1Dies ist das Buch von der Geburt Jesu Christi, der da ist ein Sohn Davids, des Sohnes Abrahams.
1The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham:
2Abraham zeugte Isaak. Isaak zeugte Jakob. Jakob zeugte Juda und seine Brüder.
2Abraham begot Isaac. And Isaac begot Jacob. And Jacob begot Judas and his brethren.
3Juda zeugte Perez und Serah von Thamar. Perez zeugte Hezron. Hezron zeugte Ram.
3And Judas begot Phares and Zara of Thamar. And Phares begot Esron. And Esron begot Aram.
4Ram zeugte Amminadab. Amminadab zeugte Nahesson. Nahesson zeugte Salma.
4And Aram begot Aminadab. And Aminadab begot Naasson. And Naasson begot Salmon.
5Salma zeugte Boas von der Rahab. Boas zeugte Obed von der Ruth. Obed zeugte Jesse.
5And Salmon begot Booz of Rahab. And Booz begot Obed of Ruth. And Obed begot Jesse.
6Jesse zeugte den König David. Der König David zeugte Salomo von dem Weib des Uria.
6And Jesse begot David the king. And David the king begot Solomon, of her that had been the wife of Urias.
7Salomo zeugte Rehabeam. Rehabeam zeugte Abia. Abia zeugte Asa.
7And Solomon begot Roboam. And Roboam begot Abia. And Abia begot Asa.
8Asa zeugte Josaphat. Josaphat zeugte Joram. Joram zeugte Usia.
8And Asa begot Josaphat. And Josaphat begot Joram. And Joram begot Ozias.
9Usia zeugte Jotham. Jotham zeugte Ahas. Ahas zeugte Hiskia.
9And Ozias begot Joatham. And Joatham begot Achaz. And Achaz begot Ezechias.
10Hiskia zeugte Manasse. Manasse zeugte Amon. Amon zeugte Josia.
10And Ezechias begot Manasses. And Manesses begot Amon. And Amon begot Josias.
11Josia zeugte Jechonja und seine Brüder um die Zeit der babylonischen Gefangenschaft.
11And Josias begot Jechonias and his brethren in the transmigration of Babylon.
12Nach der babylonischen Gefangenschaft zeugte Jechonja Sealthiel. Sealthiel zeugte Serubabel.
12And after the transmigration of Babylon, Jechonias begot Salathiel. And Salathiel begot Zorobabel.
13Serubabel zeugte Abiud. Abiud zeugte Eliakim. Eliakim zeugte Asor.
13And Zorobabel begot Abiud. And Abiud begot Eliacim. And Eliacim begot Azor.
14Asor zeugte Zadok. Zadok zeugte Achim. Achim zeugte Eliud.
14And Azor begot Sadoc. And Sadoc begot Achim. And Achim begot Eliud.
15Eliud zeugte Eleasar. Eleasar zeugte Matthan. Matthan zeugte Jakob.
15And Eliud begot Eleazar. And Eleazar begot Mathan. And Mathan begot Jacob.
16Jakob zeugte Joseph, den Mann Marias, von welcher ist geboren Jesus, der da heißt Christus.
16And Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
17Alle Glieder von Abraham bis auf David sind vierzehn Glieder. Von David bis auf die Gefangenschaft sind vierzehn Glieder. Von der babylonischen Gefangenschaft bis auf Christus sind vierzehn Glieder.
17So all the generations, from Abraham to David, are fourteen generations. And from David to the transmigration of Babylon, are fourteen generations: and from the transmigration of Babylon to Christ are fourteen generations.
18Die Geburt Christi war aber also getan. Als Maria, seine Mutter, dem Joseph vertraut war, fand sich's ehe er sie heimholte, daß sie schwanger war von dem heiligen Geist.
18Now the generation of Christ was in this wise. When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child, of the Holy Ghost.
19Joseph aber, ihr Mann, war fromm und wollte sie nicht in Schande bringen, gedachte aber, sie heimlich zu verlassen.
19Whereupon Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing publicly to expose her, was minded to put her away privately.
20Indem er aber also gedachte, siehe, da erschien ihm ein Engel des HERRN im Traum und sprach: Joseph, du Sohn Davids, fürchte dich nicht, Maria, dein Gemahl, zu dir zu nehmen; denn das in ihr geboren ist, das ist von dem heiligen Geist.
20But while he thought on these things, behold the angel of the Lord appeared to him in his sleep, saying: Joseph, son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife, for that which is conceived in her, is of the Holy Ghost.
21Und sie wird einen Sohn gebären, des Namen sollst du Jesus heißen; denn er wird sein Volk selig machen von ihren Sünden.
21And she shall bring forth a son: and thou shalt call his name JESUS. For he shall save his people from their sins.
22Das ist aber alles geschehen, auf daß erfüllt würde, was der HERR durch den Propheten gesagt hat, der da spricht:
22Now all this was done that it might be fulfilled which the Lord spoke by the prophet, saying:
23“Siehe, eine Jungfrau wird schwanger sein und einen Sohn gebären, und sie werden seinen Namen Immanuel heißen”, das ist verdolmetscht: Gott mit uns.
23Behold a virgin shall be with child, and bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
24Da nun Joseph vom Schlaf erwachte, tat er, wie ihm des HERRN Engel befohlen hatte, und nahm sein Gemahl zu sich.
24And Joseph rising up from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him, and took unto him his wife.
25Und er erkannte sie nicht, bis sie ihren ersten Sohn gebar; und hieß seinen Namen Jesus.
25And he knew her not till she brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
