1ダビデはダビデの町に自分のために家々を建てた。また、神の箱のために場所を整え、そのために天幕を張った。
1And David made him houses in the city of David; and he prepared a place for the ark of God, and pitched for it a tent.
2そのとき、ダビデは言った。「レビ人以外はだれも神の箱を担いではならない。主が神の箱を担ぎ、とこしえに主に仕えるために彼らを選ばれたからである。」
2Then David said: 'None ought to carry the ark of God but the Levites; for them hath the LORD chosen to carry the ark of the LORD, and to minister unto Him for ever.'
3ダビデは、主の箱を彼が整えたその場所に運び上るために、全イスラエルをエルサレムに集めた。
3And David assembled all Israel at Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the LORD unto its place, which he had prepared for it.
4ダビデはアロンの子らとレビ人を集めた。
4And David gathered together the sons of Aaron, and the Levites;
5ケハテの子らのうちからは、長であるウリエルと、その兄弟たち百二十人。
5of the sons of Kohath: Uriel the chief, and his brethren a hundred and twenty;
6メラリの子らのうちからは、長であるアサヤと、その兄弟たち二百二十人。
6of the sons of Merari: Asaiah the chief, and his brethren two hundred and twenty;
7ゲルショムの子らのうちからは、長であるヨエルと、その兄弟たち百三十人。
7of the sons of Gershom: Joel the chief, and his brethren a hundred and thirty;
8エリツァファンの子らのうちからは、長であるシェマヤと、その兄弟たち二百人。
8of the sons of Elizaphan: Shemaiah the chief, and his brethren two hundred;
9ヘブロンの子らのうちからは、長であるエリエルと、その兄弟たち八十人。
9of the sons of Hebron: Eliel the chief, and his brethren fourscore;
10ウジエルの子らのうちからは、長であるアミナダブと、その兄弟たち百十二人。
10of the sons of Uzziel: Amminadab the chief, and his brethren a hundred and twelve.
11ダビデは祭司ツァドクとアビアタルを呼び、またレビ人であるウリエル、アサヤ、ヨエル、シェマヤ、エリエル、アミナダブを呼んで、
11And David called for Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and for the Levites, for Uriel, Asaiah, and Joel, Shemaiah, and Eliel, and Amminadab,
12彼らに言った。「あなたがたはレビ人の父祖の家の長である。あなたがたとその兄弟たちは自らを聖別し、イスラエルの神、主の箱を、私が整えた場所に運び上りなさい。
12and said unto them: 'Ye are the heads of the fathers' houses of the Levites; sanctify yourselves, both ye and your brethren, that ye may bring up the ark of the LORD, the God of Israel, unto the place that I have prepared for it.
13初めはあなたがたがそれを担がなかったので、私たちの神、主は怒りをもって私たちを打たれた。私たちが掟に従って主に尋ね求めなかったからである。」
13For because ye bore it not at the first, the LORD our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought Him not according to the ordinance.'
14そこで祭司たちとレビ人たちは、イスラエルの神、主の箱を運び上るために自らを聖別した。
14So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of the LORD, the God of Israel.
15レビ人の子らは、主の言葉に従ってモーセが命じたとおりに、神の箱の棒を肩に載せて担いだ。
15And the children of the Levites bore the ark of God upon their shoulders with the bars thereon, as Moses commanded according to the word of the LORD.
16ダビデはレビ人の長たちに命じて、彼らの同族を歌い手として任命し、楽器、すなわち琴、竪琴、シンバルを高らかに鳴らして、喜びの声を上げさせた。
16And David spoke to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brethren the singers, with instruments of music, psalteries and harps and cymbals, sounding aloud and lifting up the voice with joy.
17そこでレビ人たちはヨエルの子ヘマンを任命した。またその兄弟たちのうちからはベレクヤの子アサフを、彼らの兄弟であるメラリの子らのうちからはクシャヤの子エタンを任命し、
17So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel; and of his brethren, Asaph the son of Berechiah; and of the sons of Merari their brethren, Ethan the son of Kushaiah;
18さらに彼らとともに、第二の組に属する同族の者たちであるゼカリヤ、ベン、ヤアジエル、シェミラモテ、エヒエル、ウニ、エリアブ、ベナヤ、マアセヤ、マティティヤ、エリフェレフ、ミクネヤ、および門衛であるオベド・エドムとエイエルを任命した。
18and with them their brethren of the second degree, Zechariah, Ben, and Jaaziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, Eliab, and Benaiah, and Maaseiah, and Mattithiah, and Eliphalehu, and Mikneiah, and Obed-edom, and Jeiel, the doorkeepers.
19歌い手ヘマン、アサフ、エタンは、青銅のシンバルを高らかに鳴らすために任命された。
19So the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were appointed, with cymbals of brass to sound aloud;
20ゼカリヤ、アジエル、シェミラモテ、エヒエル、ウニ、エリアブ、マアセヤ、ベナヤは、アラモテの調べに合わせて琴を奏でるため、
20and Zechariah, and Aziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, and Eliab, and Maaseiah, and Benaiah, with psalteries set to Alamoth;
21マティティヤ、エリフェレフ、ミクネヤ、オベド・エドム、エイエル、アザズヤは、八弦の竪琴に合わせて指揮をするために任命された。
21and Mattithiah, and Eliphalehu, and Mikneiahu, and Obed-edom, and Jeiel, and Azaziah, with harps on the Sheminith, to lead.
22レビ人の長ケナニヤは歌の指揮を執った。彼が熟練者だったからである。
22And Chenaniah, chief of the Levites, was over the song; he was master in the song, because he was skilful.
23ベレクヤとエルカナは箱の門衛であった。
23And Berechiah and Elkanah were door-keepers for the ark.
24祭司であるシェバヌヤ、ヨシャファテ、ネタンエル、アマサイ、ゼカリヤ、ベナヤ、エリエゼルは、神の箱の前でラッパを吹き鳴らした。またオベド・エドムとエヒヤは箱の門衛であった。
24And Shebaniah, and Joshaphat, and Nethanel, and Amasai, and Zechariah, and Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, did blow with the trumpets before the ark of God; and Obed-edom and Jehiah were doorkeepers for the ark.
25こうして、ダビデとイスラエルの長老たち、および千人隊の長たちは行って、主の契約の箱をオベド・エドムの家から喜びをもって運び上った。
25So David, and the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands, went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the house of Obed-edom with joy.
26神が主の契約の箱を担ぐレビ人たちを助けられたので、彼らは七頭の雄牛と七頭の雄羊をいけにえとしてささげた。
26And it came to pass, when God helped the Levites that bore the ark of the covenant of the LORD, that they sacrificed seven bullocks and seven rams.
27ダビデ、箱を担ぐすべてのレビ人、歌い手、また歌い手を指揮するケナニヤは、上質の亜麻布の衣を着ていた。ダビデはまた亜麻布のエポデを身に着けていた。
27And David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, and all the Levites that bore the ark, and the singers, and Chenaniah the master of the singers in the song; and David had upon him an ephod of linen.
28こうして、全イスラエルは喜びの叫びと、角笛の音、ラッパ、シンバルを伴い、琴と竪琴を高らかに鳴らして、主の契約の箱を運び上った。
28Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouting, and with sound of the horn, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, sounding aloud with psalteries and harps.
29主の契約の箱がダビデの町に入ったとき、サウルの娘ミカルは窓から見下ろし、ダビデ王が踊り、楽器を奏でているのを見て、心の中で彼をさげすんだ。
29And it came to pass, as the ark of the covenant of the LORD came to the city of David, that Michal the daughter of Saul looked out at the window, and saw king David dancing and making merry; and she despised him in her heart.
