1Te phoeiah Naamathi Zophar loh a doo tih,
1Then Sophar the Naamathite answered, and said:
2“Te dongah ka pomnah kai n'thuung tih kamah khuiah ka tawn uh coeng dongah ni.
2Therefore various thoughts succeed one another in me, and my mind is hurried away to different things.
3Ka thuituennah he mingthae la ka yaak dongah ka yakmingnah dongah mueihla loh kai n'doo.
3The doctrine with which thou reprovest me, I will hear, and the spirit of my understanding shall answer for me.
4Suen lamloh diklai dongah hlang a khueh parhi te na ming a?
4This I know from the beginning, since man was placed upon the earth,
5Halang kah omngaih laa tah yoei tih lailak kah kohoenah khaw mikhaptok hil mai ni.
5That the praise of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment.
6A thinlennah te vaan duela cet tih a lu loh khomai duela puet cakhaw,
6If his pride mount up even to heaven, and his head touch the clouds:
7a aek bangla a yoeyah la milh vetih anih aka hmu rhoek loh, “Anih ta?” a ti uh ni.
7In the end he shall be destroyed like a dunghill, and they that has seen him shall say: Where is he?
8Mang bangla a ding phoeiah tah anih te hmu uh pawh. Khoyin kah olphong bangla khum hmata.
8As a dream that fleeth away he shall not be found, he shall pass as a vision of the night:
9A mik loh a hmuh khaw rhaep mahpawh. Anih te amah hmuen ah mae voel mahpawh.
9The eyes that had seen him, shall see him no more, neither shall his place any more behold him.
10A ca rhoek loh tattloel rhoek te a moeithen uh tih a kut loh a thahuem te a mael uh.
10His children shall be oppressed with want, and his hands shall render him his sorrow.
11A rhuh tah a cacawn rhoek bangla hah uh dae a cacawn rhoek khaw amah neh laipi dongah ni a yalh eh.
11His bones shall be filled with the vices of his youth, and they shall sleep with him in the dust.
12A ka dongah tui mai cakhaw boethae te a lai hmui ah a thuh.
12For when evil shall be sweet in his mouth, he will hide it under his tongue.
13Te te a hnaih tih a toeng pawt dongah a ka khui la a ma-uem.
13He will spare it, and not leave it, and will hide it in his throat.
14A bung khuikah a buh te a khui ah minta sue la poeh ni.
14His bread in his belly shall be turned into the gall of asps within him.
15Khuehtawn a dolh vaengah a bung khui lamloh lok vetih anih te Pathen loh a talh ni.
15The riches which he hath swallowed; he shall vomit up, and God shall draw them out of his belly.
16Minta sue loh a khut vetih rhulthae lai loh amah a ngawn ni.
16He shall suck the head of asps, and the viper’s tongue shall kill him.
17Soklong, tuiva neh khorha kah khoitui neh suknaeng te hmuh mahpawh.
17(Let him not see the streams of the river, the brooks of honey and of butter.)
18Thatloh phu te a thuung akhaw a hnothung kah thadueng bangla a dolh pawt dongah yoka pawh.
18He shall be punished for all that he did, and yet shall not be consumed: according to the multitude of his devices so also shall he suffer.
19tattloel te a neet phoeiah amah loh a sak mueh im te a hnoo sak tih a rawth pah.
19Because he broke in and stripped the poor: he hath violently taken away a house which he did not build.
20A bungko lamkah thayoeituipan te ming pawt tih a nai nen khaw loeih pawh.
20And yet his belly was not filled: and when he hath the things he coveted, he shall not be able to possess them.
21A caak ham caknoi om pawh. Te dongah a thennah poem hae mahpawh.
21There was nothing left of his meat, and therefore nothing shall continue of his goods:
22A khuehtawn neh a hah vaengah anih te a daengdaeh vetih thakthaekung kah kut boeih te anih soah thoeng ni.
22When he shall be filled, he shall be straitened, he shall burn, and every sorrow shall fall upon him.
23Anih bung hah sak ham a taengah amah kah thintoek thinsa a tueih pah vetih a buhcak te anih soah a tlan sak.
23May his belly be filled, that God may send forth the wrath of his indignation upon him, and rain down his war upon him.
24Thicung lungpok haica lamloh yong dae anih te rhohum lii loh a kah.
24He shall flee from weapons of iron, and shall fall upon a bow of brass.
25A yueh vaengah a pumpu lamloh a pawlh pah. Te vaengah a hmuet khui lamkah mueirhih te amah soah rhaek la a caeh pah ni.
25The sword is drawn out, and cometh forth from its scabbard, and glittereth in his bitterness: the terrible ones shall go and come upon him.
26Hmaisuep cungkuem te khoem hamla a tung. A hmuh mueh hmai loh anih te a hlawp vetih a dap kah rhaengnaeng khaw a talh pah ni.
26All darkness is hid in his secret places: a fire that is not kindled shall devour him, he shall be afflicted when left in his tabernacle.
27Anih kathaesainah te vaan loh a hliphen uh vetih diklai loh amah taengah a tai pah ni.
27The heavens shall reveal his iniquity, and the earth shall rise up against him.
28A thintoeknah hnin ah tah a im kah cangpai khaw a poelyoe pah vetih a hawk pah ni.
28The offspring of his house shall be exposed, he shall be pulled down in the day of God’s wrath.
29Halang hlang loh tebang khoyo te Pathen taeng lamkah a dang tih Pathen loh a ol rho la a khueh pah,” a ti.
29This is the portion of a wicked man from God, and the inheritance of his doings from the Lord.
