1提幔 人 以利法 回答說：
1Then answered Eliphaz the Temanite, and said:
2人豈能使上帝有益呢？ 智慧人但能有益於己。
2Can a man be profitable unto God? Or can he that is wise be profitable unto Him?
3你為人公義，豈叫全能者喜悅呢？ 你行為完全，豈能使他得利呢？
3Is it any advantage to the Almighty, that thou art righteous? Or is it gain to Him, that thou makest thy ways blameless?
4豈是因你敬畏他 就責備你、審判你嗎？
4Is it for thy fear of Him that He reproveth thee, that He entereth with thee into judgment?
5你的罪惡豈不是大嗎？ 你的罪孽也沒有窮盡；
5Is not thy wickedness great? And are not thine iniquities without end?
6因你無故強取弟兄的物為當頭， 剝去貧寒人的衣服。
6For thou hast taken pledges of thy brother for nought, and stripped the naked of their clothing.
7困乏的人，你沒有給他水喝； 飢餓的人，你沒有給他食物。
7Thou hast not given water to the weary to drink, and thou hast withholden bread from the hungry.
8有能力的人就得地土； 尊貴的人也住在其中。
8And as a mighty man, who hath the earth, and as a man of rank, who dwelleth in it,
9你打發寡婦空手回去， 折斷孤兒的膀臂。
9Thou hast sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken.
10因此，有網羅環繞你， 有恐懼忽然使你驚惶；
10Therefore snares are round about thee, and sudden dread affrighted thee,
11或有黑暗蒙蔽你， 並有洪水淹沒你。
11Or darkness, that thou canst not see, and abundance of waters cover thee.
12上帝豈不是在高天嗎？ 你看星宿何其高呢！
12Is not God in the height of heaven? And behold the topmost of the stars, how high they are!
13你說：上帝知道甚麼？ 他豈能看透幽暗施行審判呢？
13And thou sayest: 'What doth God know? Can He judge through the dark cloud?
14密雲將他遮蓋，使他不能看見； 他周遊穹蒼。
14Thick clouds are a covering to Him, that He seeth not; and He walketh in the circuit of heaven.'
15你要依從上古的道嗎？ 這道是惡人所行的。
15Wilt thou keep the old way which wicked men have trodden?
16他們未到死期，忽然除滅； 根基毀壞，好像被江河沖去。
16Who were snatched away before their time, whose foundation was poured out as a stream;
17他們向上帝說：離開我們吧！ 又 說 ：全能者能把我們怎麼樣呢？
17Who said unto God: 'Depart from us'; and what could the Almighty do unto them?
18哪知上帝以美物充滿他們的房屋； 但惡人所謀定的離我好遠。
18Yet He filled their houses with good things — but the counsel of the wicked is far from me.
19義人看見他們的 結局 就歡喜； 無辜的人嗤笑他們，
19The righteous saw it, and were glad, and the innocent laugh them to scorn:
20說：那起來攻擊我們的果然被剪除， 其餘的都被火燒滅。
20'Surely their substance is cut off, and their abundance the fire hath consumed.'
21你要認識上帝，就得平安； 福氣也必臨到你。
21Acquaint now thyself with Him, and be at peace; thereby shall thine increase be good.
22你當領受他口中的教訓， 將他的言語存在心裏。
22Receive, I pray thee, instruction from His mouth, and lay up His words in thy heart.
23你若歸向全能者，從你帳棚中遠除不義， 就必得建立。
23If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up — if thou put away unrighteousness far from thy tents,
24要將 你的 珍寶丟在塵土裏， 將 俄斐 的 黃金 丟在溪河石頭之間；
24And lay thy treasure in the dust, and the gold of Ophir among the stones of the brooks;
25全能者就必為你的珍寶， 作你的寶銀。
25And the Almighty be thy treasure, and precious silver unto thee;
26你就要以全能者為喜樂， 向上帝仰起臉來。
26Then surely shalt thou have thy delight in the Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face unto God.
27你要禱告他，他就聽你； 你也要還你的願。
27Thou shalt make thy prayer unto Him, and He will hear thee, and thou shalt pay thy vows;
28你定意要做何事，必然給你成就； 亮光也必照耀你的路。
28Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee, and light shall shine upon thy ways.
29人使 你 降卑，你仍可說： 必得 高升； 謙卑的人，上帝必然拯救。
29When they cast thee down, thou shalt say: 'There is lifting up'; for the humble person He saveth.
30人非無辜，上帝且要搭救他； 他因你手中清潔，必蒙拯救。
30He delivereth him that is innocent, yea, thou shalt be delivered through the cleanness of thy hands.
