約伯記 17

1我的心靈消耗，我的日子滅盡； 墳墓為我 預備 好了。
1My spirit is consumed, my days are extinct, the grave is ready for me.
2真有戲笑我的在我這裏， 我眼常見他們惹動我。
2Surely there are mockers with me, and mine eye abideth in their provocation.
3願主拿憑據給我，自己為我作保。 在你以外 誰肯與我擊掌呢？
3Give now a pledge, be surety for me with Thyself; who else is there that will strike hands with me?
4因你使他們心不明理， 所以你必不高舉他們。
4For Thou hast hid their heart from understanding; therefore shalt Thou not exalt them.
5控告他的朋友、以朋友為可搶奪的， 連他兒女的眼睛也要失明。
5He that denounceth his friends for the sake of flattery, even the eyes of his children shall fail.
6上帝使我作了民中的笑談； 他們也吐唾沫在我臉上。
6He hath made me also a byword of the people; and I am become one in whose face they spit.
7我的眼睛因憂愁昏花； 我的百體好像影兒。
7Mine eye also is dimmed by reason of vexation, and all my members are as a shadow.
8正直人因此必驚奇； 無辜的人要興起攻擊不敬虔之輩。
8Upright men are astonished at this, and the innocent stirreth up himself against the godless.
9然而，義人要持守所行的道； 手潔的人要力上加力。
9Yet the righteous holdeth on his way, and he that hath clean hands waxeth stronger and stronger.
10至於你們眾人，可以再來 辯論 吧！ 你們中間，我找不着一個智慧人。
10But as for you all, do ye return, and come now; and I shall not find a wise man among you.
11我的日子已經過了； 我的謀算、我心所想望的已經斷絕。
11My days are past, my purposes are broken off, even the thoughts of my heart.
12他們以黑夜為白晝， 說 ：亮光近乎黑暗。
12They change the night into day; the light is short because of darkness.
13我若盼望陰間為我的房屋， 若下榻在黑暗中，
13If I look for the nether-world as my house; if I have spread my couch in the darkness;
14若對朽壞說：你是我的父； 對蟲說：你是我的母親姊妹；
14If I have said to corruption: 'Thou art my father', to the worm: 'Thou art my mother, and my sister';
15這樣，我的指望在哪裏呢？ 我所指望的誰能看見呢？
15Where then is my hope? And as for my hope, who shall see it?
16等到安息在塵土中， 這指望必下到陰間的門閂那裏了。
16They shall go down to the bars of the nether-world, when we are at rest together in the dust.
