1“มนุษย์ที่เกิดจากผู้หญิง มีชีวิตสั้นและเต็มไปด้วยความทุกข์
1“Man, who is born of woman, is short of days and full of trouble.
2เขางอกงามเหมือนดอกไม้ แล้วถูกตัด ผ่านไปเหมือนเงา ไม่ยั่งยืน
2Like a flower, he comes forth, then withers away; like a fleeting shadow, he does not endure.
3พระองค์ยังจะจับตาดูคนอย่างนี้ นำข้าพเจ้าเข้าสู่การตัดสินกับพระองค์หรือ?
3Do You open Your eyes to one like this? Will You bring him into judgment before You?
4ใครจะทำให้สิ่งสะอาดออกมาจากสิ่งไม่สะอาดได้? ไม่มีใครเลย
4Who can bring out clean from unclean? No one!
5ในเมื่อวันของเขาถูกกำหนดแล้ว จำนวนเดือนของเขาอยู่กับพระองค์ พระองค์กำหนดเขตที่เขาข้ามไม่ได้
5Since his days are determined and the number of his months is with You, and since You have set limits that he cannot exceed,
6ขอหันสายตาไปจากเขา ให้เขาได้พัก จนทำงานในวันของตนเสร็จเหมือนลูกจ้าง
6look away from him and let him rest, so he can enjoy his day as a hired hand.
7“ต้นไม้ยังมีความหวัง แม้ถูกตัด ก็จะแตกหน่ออีก กิ่งอ่อนจะงอกไม่หยุด
7For there is hope for a tree: If it is cut down, it will sprout again, and its tender shoots will not fail.
8แม้รากของมันแก่ในดิน ตอตายในพื้นดิน
8If its roots grow old in the ground and its stump dies in the soil,
9พอได้กลิ่นน้ำก็จะแตกตา แตกกิ่งเหมือนต้นอ่อน
9at the scent of water it will bud and put forth twigs like a sapling.
10แต่มนุษย์ตายและล้มลง เมื่อคนสิ้นลมหายใจ เขาอยู่ที่ไหน?
10But a man dies and is laid low; he breathes his last, and where is he?
11น้ำเหือดจากทะเล แม่น้ำแห้งขอดไปฉันใด
11As water disappears from the sea and a river becomes parched and dry,
12มนุษย์ก็นอนลงและไม่ลุกฉันนั้น จนกว่าฟ้าสวรรค์จะไม่มีอีก พวกเขาจะไม่ตื่น ไม่มีใครปลุกให้ตื่นจากหลับ
12so a man lies down and does not rise. Until the heavens are no more, he will not be awakened or roused from sleep.
13“ขอพระองค์ซ่อนข้าพเจ้าไว้ในเชโอล เก็บข้าพเจ้าไว้ลับๆ จนความโกรธของพระองค์ผ่านไป กำหนดเวลาให้ข้าพเจ้า แล้วระลึกถึงข้าพเจ้า!
13If only You would hide me in Sheol and conceal me until Your anger has passed! If only You would appoint a time for me and then remember me!
14ถ้ามนุษย์ตาย จะมีชีวิตอีกหรือ? ข้าพเจ้าจะคอยตลอดวันแห่งการต่อสู้ จนถึงเวลาที่ได้รับการปล่อยตัว
14When a man dies, will he live again? All the days of my hard service I will wait, until my renewal comes.
15พระองค์จะเรียก แล้วข้าพเจ้าจะตอบ พระองค์จะปรารถนาผลงานจากมือพระองค์
15You will call, and I will answer; You will desire the work of Your hands.
16แต่ตอนนี้พระองค์นับก้าวข้าพเจ้า พระองค์ไม่ได้เฝ้าดูบาปข้าพเจ้าหรือ?
16For then You would count my steps, but would not keep track of my sin.
17การฝ่าฝืนของข้าพเจ้าถูกผนึกไว้ในถุง พระองค์มัดความผิดข้าพเจ้าไว้แน่น
17My transgression would be sealed in a bag, and You would cover over my iniquity.
18“ภูเขาที่พังลงย่อมสูญสลาย ก้อนหินถูกเคลื่อนจากที่
18But as a mountain erodes and crumbles and a rock is dislodged from its place,
19น้ำกัดกร่อนหิน กระแสน้ำชะฝุ่นดินไป พระองค์ก็ทำลายความหวังมนุษย์เช่นนั้น
19as water wears away the stones and torrents wash away the soil, so You destroy a man’s hope.
20พระองค์ชนะเขาตลอดไป แล้วเขาก็จากไป พระองค์เปลี่ยนใบหน้าเขาและส่งเขาจากไป
20You forever overpower him, and he passes on; You change his countenance and send him away.
21ลูกชายของเขามีเกียรติ เขาก็ไม่รู้ พวกเขาตกต่ำ เขาก็ไม่รับรู้
21If his sons receive honor, he does not know it; if they are brought low, he is unaware.
22แต่เนื้อของเขาเจ็บปวด ใจภายในโศกเศร้า”
22He feels only the pain of his own body and mourns only for himself.”
