1โมอับกบฏต่ออิสราเอลหลังจากอาหับสิ้นชีวิต
1After the death of Ahab, Moab rebelled against Israel.
2อาหัสยาห์พลัดตกผ่านช่องตาข่ายในห้องชั้นบนที่สะมาเรีย และล้มป่วย เขาจึงส่งผู้นำสารไปสั่งว่า “จงไปถามบาอัลเซบูบ เทพเจ้าแห่งเอโครนว่า เราจะหายจากความเจ็บป่วยนี้หรือไม่”
2Now Ahaziah had fallen through the lattice of his upper room in Samaria and injured himself. So he sent messengers and instructed them: “Go inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron, whether I will recover from this injury.”
3แต่ทูตสวรรค์ของพระยาห์เวห์ กล่าวแก่เอลียาห์ชาวทิชบีว่า “จงไปพบผู้นำสารของกษัตริย์แห่งสะมาเรีย และบอกพวกเขาว่า ‘พวกเจ้าไปถามบาอัลเซบูบ เทพเจ้าแห่งเอโครน เพราะไม่มีพระเจ้า ในอิสราเอลหรือ?
3But the angel of the LORD said to Elijah the Tishbite, “Go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria and ask them, ‘Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are on your way to inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron?’
4เพราะฉะนั้น พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสว่า “เจ้าจะไม่ลงมาจากเตียงที่เจ้าขึ้นไปนอน แต่เจ้าจะต้องตายอย่างแน่นอน”’” แล้วเอลียาห์ก็จากไป
4Therefore this is what the LORD says: ‘You will not get up from the bed on which you are lying. You will surely die.’” So Elijah departed.
5ผู้นำสารกลับมาหากษัตริย์ เขาจึงถามพวกเขาว่า “ทำไมพวกเจ้ากลับมา?”
5When the messengers returned to the king, he asked them, “Why have you returned?”
6พวกเขาตอบว่า “มีชายคนหนึ่งมาพบพวกเราและบอกว่า ‘จงกลับไปหากษัตริย์ผู้ส่งพวกเจ้ามา และบอกเขาว่า “พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสว่า ‘เจ้าส่งคนไปถามบาอัลเซบูบ เทพเจ้าแห่งเอโครน เพราะไม่มีพระเจ้าในอิสราเอลหรือ? เพราะฉะนั้น เจ้าจะไม่ลงมาจากเตียงที่เจ้าขึ้นไปนอน แต่เจ้าจะต้องตายอย่างแน่นอน’”’”
6They replied, “A man came up to meet us and said, ‘Go back to the king who sent you and tell him that this is what the LORD says: Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are sending these men to inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron? Therefore you will not get up from the bed on which you are lying. You will surely die.’”
7กษัตริย์ถามพวกเขาว่า “ชายที่มาพบพวกเจ้าและพูดอย่างนี้มีลักษณะอย่างไร?”
7The king asked them, “What sort of man came up to meet you and spoke these words to you?”
8พวกเขาตอบว่า “เขาเป็นชายมีขนดก และคาดเข็มขัดหนังรอบเอว” กษัตริย์จึงพูดว่า “นั่นคือเอลียาห์ชาวทิชบี”
8“He was a hairy man,” they answered, “with a leather belt around his waist.” “It was Elijah the Tishbite,” said the king.
9แล้วกษัตริย์ส่งนายกองพร้อมทหารห้าสิบคนไปหาเอลียาห์ เขาขึ้นไปหาเอลียาห์ และดูสิ เอลียาห์กำลังนั่งอยู่บนยอดเนินเขา หัวหน้าทหารพูดกับเขาว่า “คนของพระเจ้า กษัตริย์สั่งว่า ‘ลงมา!’”
9Then King Ahaziah sent to Elijah a captain with his company of fifty men. So the captain went up to Elijah, who was sitting on top of a hill, and said to him, “Man of God, the king declares, ‘Come down!’”
10เอลียาห์ตอบนายกองคนนั้นว่า “ถ้าข้าพเจ้าเป็นคนของพระเจ้า ก็ขอให้ไฟลงมาจากฟ้าเผาผลาญท่านกับทหารห้าสิบคนของท่าน!” แล้วไฟก็ลงมาจากฟ้าและเผาผลาญเขากับทหารห้าสิบคน
10Elijah answered the captain, “If I am a man of God, may fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty men.” And fire came down from heaven and consumed the captain and his fifty men.
11กษัตริย์ส่งนายกองอีกคนหนึ่งพร้อมทหารห้าสิบคนไปหาเอลียาห์อีก เขาพูดกับเอลียาห์ว่า “คนของพระเจ้า กษัตริย์สั่งว่า ‘รีบลงมา!’”
11So the king sent to Elijah another captain with his fifty men. And the captain said to Elijah, “Man of God, the king declares, ‘Come down at once!’”
12เอลียาห์ตอบพวกเขาว่า “ถ้าข้าพเจ้าเป็นคนของพระเจ้า ก็ขอให้ไฟลงมาจากฟ้าเผาผลาญท่านกับทหารห้าสิบคนของท่าน!” แล้วไฟของพระเจ้าก็ลงมาจากฟ้าและเผาผลาญเขากับทหารห้าสิบคน
12Again Elijah replied, “If I am a man of God, may fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty men.” And the fire of God came down from heaven and consumed the captain and his fifty men.
13กษัตริย์ส่งนายกองคนที่สามพร้อมทหารห้าสิบคนไปอีก นายกองคนที่สามขึ้นไปคุกเข่าต่อหน้าเอลียาห์ วิงวอนเขาว่า “คนของพระเจ้า โปรดเห็นแก่ชีวิตของข้าพเจ้าและชีวิตของผู้รับใช้ของท่านห้าสิบคนนี้ด้วย
13So the king sent a third captain with his fifty men. And the third captain went up, fell on his knees before Elijah, and begged him, “Man of God, may my life and the lives of these fifty servants please be precious in your sight.
14ดูสิ ไฟลงมาจากฟ้าและเผาผลาญนายกองสองคนก่อนหน้านี้พร้อมกับทหารห้าสิบคนของพวกเขา แต่ตอนนี้โปรดเห็นแก่ชีวิตของข้าพเจ้าด้วย”
14Behold, fire has come down from heaven and consumed the first two captains of fifty, with all their men. But now may my life be precious in your sight.”
15ทูตสวรรค์ของพระยาห์เวห์กล่าวแก่เอลียาห์ว่า “ลงไปกับเขาเถิด อย่ากลัวเขา” เอลียาห์จึงลุกขึ้นลงไปกับเขาหากษัตริย์
15Then the angel of the LORD said to Elijah, “Go down with him. Do not be afraid of him.” So Elijah got up and went down with him to the king.
16เขาพูดกับกษัตริย์ว่า “พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสว่า ‘เพราะเจ้าได้ส่งผู้นำสารไปถามบาอัลเซบูบ เทพเจ้าแห่งเอโครน เป็นเพราะไม่มีพระเจ้าในอิสราเอลให้เจ้าทูลถามพระดำรัสของพระองค์หรือ? เพราะฉะนั้น เจ้าจะไม่ลงมาจากเตียงที่เจ้าขึ้นไปนอน แต่เจ้าจะต้องตายอย่างแน่นอน’”
16And Elijah said to King Ahaziah, “This is what the LORD says: Is there really no God in Israel for you to inquire of His word? Is that why you have sent messengers to inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron? Therefore you will not get up from the bed on which you are lying. You will surely die.”
17อาหัสยาห์จึงตายตามพระดำรัสของพระยาห์เวห์ที่เอลียาห์กล่าวไว้ เยโฮรัมขึ้นครองราชย์แทนเขาในปีที่สองแห่งรัชกาลเยโฮรัมบุตรเยโฮชาฟัทกษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ เพราะอาหัสยาห์ไม่มีบุตรชาย
17So Ahaziah died according to the word of the LORD that Elijah had spoken. And since he had no son, Jehoram succeeded him in the second year of the reign of Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat over Judah.
18ส่วนเหตุการณ์อื่นๆในรัชกาลอาหัสยาห์และทุกสิ่งที่เขาทำไม่ได้เขียนไว้ในหนังสือพงศาวดารของบรรดากษัตริย์แห่งอิสราเอลหรือ?
18As for the rest of the acts of Ahaziah, along with his accomplishments, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
