1ต่อไปนี้คือถ้อยคำในจดหมายที่เยเรมีย์ผู้เผยพระวจนะส่งจากเยรูซาเล็มถึงผู้อาวุโสที่เหลืออยู่ในหมู่เชลย ถึงปุโรหิต ผู้เผยพระวจนะ และประชาชนทั้งหมดที่เนบูคัดเนสซาร์กวาดต้อนจากเยรูซาเล็มไปเป็นเชลยในบาบิโลน
1Now these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem unto the residue of the elders which were carried away captives, and to the priests, and to the prophets, and to all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon;
2หลังจากกษัตริย์เยโคนิยาห์ พระราชมารดา ขันที ขุนนางของยูดาห์และเยรูซาเล็ม ช่างฝีมือและช่างโลหะออกจากเยรูซาเล็มไปแล้ว
2(After that Jeconiah the king, and the queen, and the eunuchs, the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, and the carpenters, and the smiths, were departed from Jerusalem;)
3เยเรมีย์ฝากจดหมายไปกับเอลาสาห์ บุตรชาฟาน และเกมาริยาห์ บุตรฮิลคียาห์ ซึ่งเศเดคียาห์ กษัตริย์ยูดาห์ ส่งไปบาบิโลนเพื่อเข้าเฝ้าเนบูคัดเนสซาร์ กษัตริย์บาบิโลน จดหมายกล่าวว่า
3By the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan, and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, (whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent unto Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon) saying,
4พระยาห์เวห์แห่งกองทัพ พระเจ้าของอิสราเอล กล่าวกับเชลยทั้งหมดที่เราให้ถูกกวาดต้อนจากเยรูซาเล็มไปบาบิโลนดังนี้
4Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, unto all that are carried away captives, whom I have caused to be carried away from Jerusalem unto Babylon;
5“จงสร้างบ้านและอาศัยอยู่ในบ้านเหล่านั้น ปลูกสวนและกินผลจากสวน
5Build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them;
6แต่งงานและมีลูกชายลูกสาว หาภรรยาให้ลูกชายของพวกเจ้า ยกลูกสาวของพวกเจ้าให้สามี เพื่อพวกเขาจะมีลูกชายลูกสาว จงเพิ่มจำนวนที่นั่น อย่าให้ลดลง
6Take ye wives, and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters; that ye may be increased there, and not diminished.
7จงแสวงหาความสงบสุขให้เมืองที่เราให้พวกเจ้าถูกกวาดต้อนไปอยู่ และอธิษฐานต่อพระยาห์เวห์เพื่อเมืองนั้น เพราะเมื่อเมืองนั้นมีความสงบสุข พวกเจ้าก็จะมีความสงบสุข”
7And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.
8เพราะพระยาห์เวห์แห่งกองทัพ พระเจ้าของอิสราเอล กล่าวดังนี้ “อย่าให้ผู้เผยพระวจนะที่อยู่ท่ามกลางพวกเจ้าและผู้ทำนายของพวกเจ้าหลอกลวงพวกเจ้า อย่าฟังความฝันที่พวกเจ้าทำให้ฝันกันขึ้นมา
8¶ For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Let not your prophets and your diviners, that be in the midst of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed.
9เพราะพวกเขาเผยพระวจนะเท็จแก่พวกเจ้าในนามเรา เราไม่ได้ส่งพวกเขามา” พระยาห์เวห์กล่าว
9For they prophesy falsely unto you in my name: I have not sent them, saith the LORD .
10เพราะพระยาห์เวห์กล่าวว่า “เมื่อครบเจ็ดสิบปีสำหรับบาบิโลน เราจะมาเอาใจใส่พวกเจ้า และทำให้คำสัญญาดีของเราแก่พวกเจ้าเป็นจริง โดยให้พวกเจ้ากลับมาที่นี่
10¶ For thus saith the LORD , That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.
11เพราะเรารู้ความคิดที่เรามีต่อพวกเจ้า” พระยาห์เวห์กล่าว “เป็นความคิดที่จะให้ความสงบสุข ไม่ใช่ภัยร้าย เพื่อให้พวกเจ้ามีความหวังและอนาคต
11For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD , thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
12พวกเจ้าจะร้องเรียกเรา จะไปอธิษฐานต่อเรา และเราจะฟังพวกเจ้า
12Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
13พวกเจ้าจะแสวงหาเราและพบเรา เมื่อพวกเจ้าค้นหาเราด้วยสุดใจ
13And ye shall seek me, and find me , when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
14พวกเจ้าจะพบเรา” พระยาห์เวห์กล่าว “เราจะฟื้นฟูพวกเจ้าจากการเป็นเชลย และรวบรวมพวกเจ้าจากทุกชนชาติและทุกแห่งที่เราขับไล่พวกเจ้าไป” พระยาห์เวห์กล่าว “เราจะนำพวกเจ้ากลับมาที่ที่เราให้พวกเจ้าถูกกวาดต้อนไปเป็นเชลย”
14And I will be found of you, saith the LORD : and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD ; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.
15เพราะพวกเจ้ากล่าวว่า “พระยาห์เวห์ตั้งผู้เผยพระวจนะขึ้นให้พวกเราในบาบิโลน”
15¶ Because ye have said, The LORD hath raised us up prophets in Babylon;
16พระยาห์เวห์จึงกล่าวถึงกษัตริย์ที่นั่งบนบัลลังก์ดาวิด และประชาชนทั้งหมดที่อาศัยอยู่ในเมืองนี้ คือพี่น้องของพวกเจ้าที่ไม่ได้ออกไปเป็นเชลยกับพวกเจ้า
16Know that thus saith the LORD of the king that sitteth upon the throne of David, and of all the people that dwelleth in this city, and of your brethren that are not gone forth with you into captivity;
17พระยาห์เวห์แห่งกองทัพกล่าวดังนี้ “จงฟัง เราจะส่งดาบ ความอดอยาก และโรคระบาดมาสู่พวกเขา และทำให้พวกเขาเหมือนมะเดื่อเน่า ที่เสียจนกินไม่ได้
17Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will send upon them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and will make them like vile figs, that cannot be eaten, they are so evil.
18เราจะไล่ตามพวกเขาด้วยดาบ ความอดอยาก และโรคระบาด จะปล่อยให้พวกเขาถูกโยนไปมาท่ามกลางอาณาจักรทั้งหมดบนแผ่นดิน ให้เป็นสิ่งน่าหวาดกลัว เป็นที่น่าตกตะลึง เป็นที่เย้ยหยัน และเป็นที่ดูหมิ่น ท่ามกลางทุกชนชาติที่เราขับไล่พวกเขาไป
18And I will persecute them with the sword, with the famine, and with the pestilence, and will deliver them to be removed to all the kingdoms of the earth, to be a curse, and an astonishment, and an hissing, and a reproach, among all the nations whither I have driven them:
19เพราะพวกเขาไม่ฟังถ้อยคำของเรา” พระยาห์เวห์กล่าว “เราส่งผู้เผยพระวจนะ ผู้รับใช้ของเรา ไปหาพวกเขาพร้อมถ้อยคำเหล่านั้น เราตื่นแต่เช้าและส่งพวกเขาไปครั้งแล้วครั้งเล่า แต่พวกเจ้าก็ไม่ยอมฟัง” พระยาห์เวห์กล่าว
19Because they have not hearkened to my words, saith the LORD , which I sent unto them by my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them; but ye would not hear, saith the LORD .
20ดังนั้นเชลยทั้งหมดที่เราส่งออกจากเยรูซาเล็มไปบาบิโลน จงฟังคำจากพระยาห์เวห์
20¶ Hear ye therefore the word of the LORD , all ye of the captivity, whom I have sent from Jerusalem to Babylon:
21พระยาห์เวห์แห่งกองทัพ พระเจ้าของอิสราเอล กล่าวถึงอาหับ บุตรโคลายาห์ และเศเดคียาห์ บุตรมาอาเสยาห์ ที่เผยพระวจนะเท็จแก่พวกเจ้าในนามเราว่า “จงฟัง เราจะมอบพวกเขาไว้ในมือเนบูคัดเนสซาร์ กษัตริย์บาบิโลน และเขาจะฆ่าพวกเขาต่อหน้าต่อตาพวกเจ้า
21Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, of Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and of Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, which prophesy a lie unto you in my name; Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall slay them before your eyes;
22เชลยชาวยูดาห์ทั้งหมดที่อยู่ในบาบิโลนจะยกเรื่องพวกเขามาเป็นคำสาปแช่งว่า ‘ขอให้พระยาห์เวห์ทำให้เจ้าเป็นเหมือนเศเดคียาห์และอาหับ ที่กษัตริย์บาบิโลนเผาในไฟ’
22And of them shall be taken up a curse by all the captivity of Judah which are in Babylon, saying, The LORD make thee like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire;
23เพราะพวกเขาทำสิ่งโง่เขลาในอิสราเอล มีชู้กับภรรยาของเพื่อนบ้าน และกล่าวเท็จในนามเรา ทั้งที่เราไม่ได้สั่ง เราเป็นผู้รู้และเป็นพยาน” พระยาห์เวห์กล่าว
23Because they have committed villany in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbours’ wives, and have spoken lying words in my name, which I have not commanded them; even I know, and am a witness, saith the LORD .
24จงกล่าวถึงเชไมอาห์ชาวเนเฮลามว่า
24¶ Thus shalt thou also speak to Shemaiah the Nehelamite, saying,
25“พระยาห์เวห์แห่งกองทัพ พระเจ้าของอิสราเอล กล่าวดังนี้ ‘เพราะเจ้าส่งจดหมายในนามของตัวเองถึงประชาชนทั้งหมดที่เยรูซาเล็ม ถึงเศฟันยาห์ บุตรมาอาเสยาห์ ปุโรหิต และถึงปุโรหิตทั้งหมดว่า
25Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, Because thou hast sent letters in thy name unto all the people that are at Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, and to all the priests, saying,
26“พระยาห์เวห์ตั้งท่านเป็นปุโรหิตแทนเยโฮยาดาปุโรหิต เพื่อให้มีเจ้าหน้าที่ในพระนิเวศของพระยาห์เวห์คอยดูแลทุกคนที่เสียสติและตั้งตัวเป็นผู้เผยพระวจนะ ท่านจึงต้องเอาคนเหล่านั้นใส่ขื่อขังและล่ามตรวน
26The LORD hath made thee priest in the stead of Jehoiada the priest, that ye should be officers in the house of the LORD , for every man that is mad, and maketh himself a prophet, that thou shouldest put him in prison, and in the stocks.
27ถ้าอย่างนั้นทำไมท่านจึงไม่ตำหนิเยเรมีย์แห่งอานาโธท ที่ตั้งตัวเป็นผู้เผยพระวจนะต่อท่าน
27Now therefore why hast thou not reproved Jeremiah of Anathoth, which maketh himself a prophet to you?
28เพราะเขาส่งคำมาถึงพวกเราที่บาบิโลนว่า การเป็นเชลยจะยาวนาน จงสร้างบ้านและอาศัยอยู่ในบ้านเหล่านั้น ปลูกสวนและกินผลจากสวน?”’”
28For therefore he sent unto us in Babylon, saying, This captivity is long: build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them.
29เศฟันยาห์ปุโรหิตอ่านจดหมายนี้ให้เยเรมีย์ผู้เผยพระวจนะได้ยิน
29And Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the ears of Jeremiah the prophet.
30แล้วคำจากพระยาห์เวห์มาถึงเยเรมีย์ว่า
30¶ Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, saying,
31“จงส่งคำไปถึงเชลยทั้งหมดว่า ‘พระยาห์เวห์กล่าวถึงเชไมอาห์ชาวเนเฮลามดังนี้ “เพราะเชไมอาห์เผยพระวจนะแก่พวกเจ้า ทั้งที่เราไม่ได้ส่งเขามา และเขาทำให้พวกเจ้าเชื่อคำโกหก”
31Send to all them of the captivity, saying, Thus saith the LORD concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite; Because that Shemaiah hath prophesied unto you, and I sent him not, and he caused you to trust in a lie:
32ดังนั้นพระยาห์เวห์จึงกล่าวว่า “จงฟัง เราจะลงโทษเชไมอาห์ชาวเนเฮลามและลูกหลานของเขา เขาจะไม่มีลูกหลานแม้แต่คนเดียวอาศัยอยู่ท่ามกลางประชาชนนี้ เขาจะไม่ได้เห็นสิ่งดีที่เราจะทำแก่ประชาชนของเรา” พระยาห์เวห์กล่าว “เพราะเขาพูดยุยงให้กบฏต่อพระยาห์เวห์”’”
32Therefore thus saith the LORD ; Behold, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and his seed: he shall not have a man to dwell among this people; neither shall he behold the good that I will do for my people, saith the LORD ; because he hath taught rebellion against the LORD .
