1เพราะเหตุนี้ เราจึงต้องใส่ใจสิ่งที่เราได้ยินมาให้มากยิ่งขึ้น เพื่อไม่ให้เราหลุดลอยไป
1Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
2เพราะถ้อยคำที่กล่าวผ่านเหล่าทูตสวรรค์ปรากฏว่ามั่นคง และการละเมิดกับการไม่เชื่อฟังทุกอย่างต่างได้รับโทษอย่างยุติธรรม
2For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;
3แล้วเราจะหนีพ้นได้อย่างไร หากเราละเลยความรอดอันยิ่งใหญ่เช่นนี้ องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าเป็นผู้กล่าวถึงความรอดนี้เป็นครั้งแรก แล้วคนที่ได้ยินก็ยืนยันเรื่องนี้แก่เรา
3How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him ;
4พระเจ้าก็ทรงร่วมเป็นพยานกับพวกเขาด้วย ทั้งด้วยหมายสำคัญ สิ่งอัศจรรย์ การสำแดงพลังนานาชนิด และของประทานจากพระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์ ตามพระประสงค์ของพระองค์?
4God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?
5เพราะพระองค์ไม่ได้ให้โลกที่จะมาถึง ซึ่งเรากำลังกล่าวถึง อยู่ใต้อำนาจของเหล่าทูตสวรรค์
5For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak.
6แต่มีผู้หนึ่งเป็นพยานไว้ที่แห่งหนึ่งว่า “มนุษย์เป็นอะไร พระองค์จึงนึกถึงเขา หรือบุตรของมนุษย์เป็นอะไร พระองค์จึงเอาใจใส่เขา
6But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him?
7พระองค์ทรงทำให้เขาต่ำกว่าเหล่าทูตสวรรค์เพียงเล็กน้อย พระองค์ทรงสวมมงกุฎแห่งพระสิริและเกียรติให้เขา
7Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:
8พระองค์ทรงให้ทุกสิ่งอยู่ใต้เท้าของเขา” เมื่อพระองค์ทรงให้ทุกสิ่งอยู่ใต้เขา ก็ไม่มีสิ่งใดเหลืออยู่ที่ไม่อยู่ใต้เขา แต่เวลานี้ เรายังไม่เห็นว่าทุกสิ่งอยู่ใต้เขา
8Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.
9แต่เราเห็นพระเยซู ผู้ที่ถูกทำให้ต่ำกว่าเหล่าทูตสวรรค์เพียงเล็กน้อย เพราะพระองค์ทรงทนทุกข์จนถึงความตาย จึงได้รับมงกุฎแห่งพระสิริและเกียรติ เพื่อโดยพระคุณของพระเจ้า พระองค์จะได้ลิ้มรสความตายเพื่อทุกคน
9But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
10ทุกสิ่งมีอยู่เพื่อพระเจ้าและเกิดขึ้นโดยพระองค์ เมื่อพระองค์ทรงนำบุตรมากมายไปสู่พระสิริ จึงเป็นการเหมาะสมที่พระองค์จะทรงทำให้ผู้ริเริ่มความรอดของพวกเขาสมบูรณ์ผ่านความทุกข์
10For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
11เพราะทั้งผู้ที่ชำระให้บริสุทธิ์ และคนที่ได้รับการชำระให้บริสุทธิ์ ล้วนมาจากผู้เดียวกัน ด้วยเหตุนี้ พระองค์จึงไม่อายที่จะเรียกพวกเขาว่าพี่น้อง
11For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,
12โดยกล่าวว่า “เราจะประกาศพระนามของพระองค์แก่พี่น้องของเรา ท่ามกลางที่ประชุม เราจะร้องเพลงสรรเสริญพระองค์”
12Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.
13และอีกครั้งหนึ่ง “เราจะวางใจในพระองค์” และอีกครั้ง “ดูสิ นี่คือเรา พร้อมกับบรรดาบุตรที่พระเจ้าประทานแก่เรา”
13And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me.
14ในเมื่อบรรดาบุตรมีส่วนในเนื้อและเลือด พระองค์เองก็มีส่วนในเนื้อและเลือดเช่นเดียวกัน เพื่อว่าโดยความตาย พระองค์จะทำให้ผู้ที่มีอำนาจแห่งความตาย คือมาร หมดอำนาจลง
14Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
15และจะปลดปล่อยทุกคนที่ตลอดชีวิตตกเป็นทาสเพราะความกลัวตาย
15And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
16เพราะแน่นอนว่า พระองค์ไม่ได้ช่วยเหล่าทูตสวรรค์ แต่ทรงช่วยลูกหลาน ของอับราฮัม
16For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.
17เพราะเหตุนี้ พระองค์จึงจำเป็นต้องเป็นเหมือนพี่น้องของพระองค์ทุกประการ เพื่อจะได้เป็นมหาปุโรหิตผู้มีเมตตาและซื่อสัตย์ในเรื่องที่เกี่ยวกับพระเจ้า และเพื่อทำการชดใช้บาปของประชาชน
17Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.
18เพราะพระองค์เองทรงทนทุกข์ขณะถูกทดลอง พระองค์จึงสามารถช่วยคนที่กำลังถูกทดลองได้
18For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.
