1Canticum ipsi David, quando domus ædificabatur post captivitatem. [Cantate Domino canticum novum; cantate Domino omnis terra.
1O come, let us sing unto the LORD; let us shout for joy to the Rock of our salvation.
2Cantate Domino, et benedicite nomini ejus; annuntiate de die in diem salutare ejus.
2Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, let us shout for joy unto Him with psalms.
3Annuntiate inter gentes gloriam ejus; in omnibus populis mirabilia ejus.
3For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods;
4Quoniam magnus Dominus, et laudabilis nimis: terribilis est super omnes deos.
4In whose hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are His also.
5Quoniam omnes dii gentium dæmonia; Dominus autem cælos fecit.
5The sea is His, and He made it; and His hands formed the dry land.
6Confessio et pulchritudo in conspectu ejus; sanctimonia et magnificentia in sanctificatione ejus.
6O come, let us bow down and bend the knee; let us kneel before the LORD our Maker;
7Afferte Domino, patriæ gentium, afferte Domino gloriam et honorem;
7For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the flock of His hand. To-day, if ye would but hearken to His voice!
8afferte Domino gloriam nomini ejus. Tollite hostias, et introite in atria ejus;
8'Harden not your heart, as at Meribah, as in the day of Massah in the wilderness;
9adorate Dominum in atrio sancto ejus. Commoveatur a facie ejus universa terra;
9When your fathers tried Me, proved Me, even though they saw My work.
10dicite in gentibus, quia Dominus regnavit. Etenim correxit orbem terræ, qui non commovebitur; judicabit populos in æquitate.
10For forty years was I wearied with that generation, and said: It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known My ways;
11Lætentur cæli, et exsultet terra; commoveatur mare et plenitudo ejus;
11Wherefore I swore in My wrath, that they should not enter into My rest.'
12gaudebunt campi, et omnia quæ in eis sunt. Tunc exsultabunt omnia ligna silvarum
