1Alleluja. [In exitu Israël de Ægypto, domus Jacob de populo barbaro,
1Hallelujah. Praise, O ye servants of the LORD, praise the name of the LORD.
2facta est Judæa sanctificatio ejus; Israël potestas ejus.
2Blessed be the name of the LORD from this time forth and for ever.
3Mare vidit, et fugit; Jordanis conversus est retrorsum.
3From the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof the LORD'S name is to be praised.
4Montes exsultaverunt ut arietes, et colles sicut agni ovium.
4The LORD is high above all nations, His glory is above the heavens.
5Quid est tibi, mare, quod fugisti? et tu, Jordanis, quia conversus es retrorsum?
5Who is like unto the LORD our God, that is enthroned on high,
6montes, exsultastis sicut arietes? et colles, sicut agni ovium?
6That looketh down low upon heaven and upon the earth?
7A facie Domini mota est terra, a facie Dei Jacob:
7Who raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the needy out of the dunghill;
8qui convertit petram in stagna aquarum, et rupem in fontes aquarum.
8That He may set him with princes, even with the princes of His people.
9Non nobis, Domine, non nobis, sed nomini tuo da gloriam:
9Who maketh the barren woman to dwell in her house as a joyful mother of children. Hallelujah.
10super misericordia tua et veritate tua; nequando dicant gentes: Ubi est Deus eorum?
