1What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision?
1ถ้าเช่นนั้น ชาวยิวมีข้อได้เปรียบอะไร หรือการเข้าสุหนัตมีประโยชน์อะไร
2Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God.
2มีมากในทุกด้าน! ประการแรก พวกเขาได้รับมอบหมายให้ดูแลสิ่งที่พระเจ้าทรงเปิดเผย
3For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?
3แล้วถ้าบางคนขาดความเชื่อล่ะ การขาดความเชื่อของพวกเขาจะทำให้ความซื่อสัตย์ของพระเจ้าไร้ผลหรือ
4God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.
4ไม่มีทางเป็นอย่างนั้น! ให้พระเจ้าทรงเป็นฝ่ายสัตย์จริง แม้มนุษย์ทุกคนจะเป็นคนโกหกก็ตาม ดังที่มีเขียนไว้ว่า “เพื่อพระองค์จะทรงชอบธรรมในถ้อยคำของพระองค์ และทรงชนะเมื่อพระองค์ถูกพิพากษา”
5But if our unrighteousness commend the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who taketh vengeance? (I speak as a man)
5แต่ถ้าความไม่ชอบธรรมของเราทำให้เห็นความชอบธรรมของพระเจ้า เราจะว่าอย่างไร พระเจ้าทรงไม่ชอบธรรมหรือ เมื่อพระองค์ทรงลงโทษด้วยความโกรธ ข้าพเจ้าพูดอย่างที่มนุษย์ทั่วไปพูดกัน
6God forbid: for then how shall God judge the world?
6ไม่มีทางเป็นอย่างนั้น! ถ้าเป็นเช่นนั้น พระเจ้าจะทรงพิพากษาโลกได้อย่างไร
7For if the truth of God hath more abounded through my lie unto his glory; why yet am I also judged as a sinner?
7แต่ถ้าคำโกหกของข้าพเจ้าทำให้ความจริงของพระเจ้ายิ่งปรากฏมากขึ้นเพื่อพระสิริของพระองค์ แล้วทำไมข้าพเจ้ายังถูกพิพากษาว่าเป็นคนบาปอีก
8And not rather , (as we be slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say,) Let us do evil, that good may come? whose damnation is just.
8แล้วทำไมไม่พูดว่า “ให้เราทำชั่ว เพื่อความดีจะเกิดขึ้น” อย่างที่มีคนใส่ร้ายเรา และบางคนยืนยันว่าเราพูดเช่นนั้น คนที่พูดอย่างนี้สมควรแล้วที่จะถูกพิพากษาลงโทษ
9What then? are we better than they ? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;
9ถ้าเช่นนั้นจะว่าอย่างไร? พวกเราดีกว่าพวกเขาหรือ? ไม่เลย! เพราะพวกเราได้เตือนไว้ก่อนแล้วว่า ทั้งชาวยิวและชาวกรีกล้วนอยู่ใต้อำนาจของบาป
10As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
10ดังที่มีเขียนไว้ว่า “ไม่มีใครชอบธรรม ไม่มีแม้แต่คนเดียว
11There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
11ไม่มีใครเข้าใจ ไม่มีใครแสวงหาพระเจ้า
12They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
12ทุกคนหันออกนอกทาง พวกเขากลายเป็นคนไร้ค่าไปด้วยกัน ไม่มีใครทำความดี ไม่มีแม้แต่คนเดียว”
13Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:
13“ลำคอของพวกเขาเป็นหลุมฝังศพที่เปิดอยู่ พวกเขาใช้ลิ้นหลอกลวง” “พิษของงูพิษอยู่ใต้ริมฝีปากของพวกเขา”
14Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:
14“ปากของพวกเขาเต็มไปด้วยคำสาปแช่งและความขมขื่น”
15Their feet are swift to shed blood:
15“เท้าของพวกเขารีบไปหลั่งเลือด
16Destruction and misery are in their ways:
16ความพินาศและความทุกข์ยากอยู่ในทางของพวกเขา
17And the way of peace have they not known:
17พวกเขาไม่รู้จักทางแห่งสันติสุข”
18There is no fear of God before their eyes.
18“ไม่มีความยำเกรงพระเจ้าอยู่ต่อหน้าตาของพวกเขา”
19Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
19พวกเรารู้ว่า ทุกสิ่งที่ธรรมบัญญัติกล่าว ก็กล่าวแก่ผู้ที่อยู่ใต้ธรรมบัญญัติ เพื่อทุกปากจะได้เงียบลง และทั้งโลกจะอยู่ภายใต้การพิพากษาของพระเจ้า
20Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
20เพราะไม่มีมนุษย์คนใดจะได้รับความชอบธรรมต่อหน้าพระองค์ด้วยการกระทำตามธรรมบัญญัติ เพราะธรรมบัญญัติทำให้รู้จักบาป
21But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
21แต่บัดนี้ ความชอบธรรมของพระเจ้าได้ถูกเปิดเผยโดยไม่ขึ้นกับธรรมบัญญัติ แม้ธรรมบัญญัติและเหล่าผู้เผยพระวจนะก็เป็นพยานถึงความชอบธรรมนั้น
22Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
22คือความชอบธรรมของพระเจ้าที่มาทางความเชื่อในพระเยซูคริสต์ ซึ่งมาถึงทุกคนและมีแก่ทุกคนที่เชื่อ เพราะไม่มีความแตกต่างกัน
23For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
23เพราะทุกคนทำบาป และไปไม่ถึงพระสิริของพระเจ้า
24Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
24แต่ได้รับความชอบธรรมโดยไม่ต้องแลกด้วยสิ่งใด เพราะพระคุณของพระองค์ ผ่านการไถ่ที่มีอยู่ในพระเยซูคริสต์
25Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
25พระเจ้าทรงส่งพระองค์มาเป็นเครื่องบูชาเพื่อการลบล้างบาป โดยความเชื่อในโลหิตของพระองค์ เพื่อแสดงความชอบธรรมของพระเจ้า เพราะด้วยความอดกลั้นของพระองค์ พระเจ้าทรงปล่อยผ่านบาปที่ทำไว้ก่อนหน้านั้น
26To declare, I say , at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
26เพื่อแสดงความชอบธรรมของพระองค์ในเวลานี้ เพื่อพระองค์เองจะทรงชอบธรรม และทรงเป็นผู้ให้ความชอบธรรมแก่ผู้ที่มีความเชื่อในพระเยซู
27Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
27แล้วการอวดตัวอยู่ที่ไหน การอวดตัวนั้นถูกตัดออกไปแล้ว ด้วยกฎใด กฎของการกระทำหรือ ไม่ใช่ แต่ด้วยกฎของความเชื่อ
28Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
28ดังนั้น พวกเรายืนยันว่า มนุษย์ได้รับความชอบธรรมโดยความเชื่อ โดยไม่ขึ้นกับการกระทำตามธรรมบัญญัติ
29Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also:
29หรือพระเจ้าทรงเป็นพระเจ้าของชาวยิวเท่านั้น พระองค์ไม่ทรงเป็นพระเจ้าของคนต่างชาติด้วยหรือ ใช่ พระองค์ทรงเป็นพระเจ้าของคนต่างชาติด้วย
30Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.
30เพราะมีพระเจ้าองค์เดียว ผู้จะทรงให้ความชอบธรรมแก่ผู้เข้าสุหนัตโดยความเชื่อ และแก่ผู้ไม่ได้เข้าสุหนัตโดยความเชื่อเช่นกัน
31Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.
31ถ้าเช่นนั้น เราทำให้ธรรมบัญญัติหมดความหมายเพราะความเชื่อหรือ ไม่มีทางเป็นอย่างนั้น! ตรงกันข้าม เราทำให้ธรรมบัญญัติตั้งมั่น
