1Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians which is in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
1เปาโล สิลวานัส และทิโมธี ถึงประชาคมของชาวเธสะโลนิกาที่อยู่ในพระเจ้าพระบิดาและองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าเยซูคริสต์: ขอให้พวกคุณได้รับพระคุณและสันติสุขจากพระเจ้าพระบิดาของเราและองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าเยซูคริสต์
2We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers;
2เราขอบคุณพระเจ้าเสมอสำหรับพวกคุณทุกคน และกล่าวถึงพวกคุณในคำอธิษฐานของเรา
3Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;
3เราระลึกอยู่เสมอถึงงานที่เกิดจากความเชื่อของพวกคุณ ความตรากตรำที่เกิดจากความรัก และความอดทนที่เกิดจากความหวังในองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าเยซูคริสต์ของเรา ต่อหน้าพระเจ้าพระบิดาของเรา
4Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God.
4พี่น้อง ผู้เป็นที่รักของพระเจ้า เรารู้ว่าพวกคุณเป็นผู้ที่พระองค์เลือกไว้
5For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.
5เพราะข่าวดีของเรามาถึงพวกคุณไม่ใช่ด้วยถ้อยคำเท่านั้น แต่ด้วยพลัง ด้วยพระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์ และด้วยความมั่นใจอย่างเต็มที่ พวกคุณรู้ว่าเมื่อเราอยู่ท่ามกลางพวกคุณเพื่อประโยชน์ของพวกคุณ เราประพฤติตัวอย่างไร
6And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost:
6พวกคุณได้เอาอย่างเราและองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า โดยรับถ้อยคำนั้นท่ามกลางความทุกข์ยากมากมายด้วยความยินดีที่มาจากพระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์
7So that ye were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia.
7จนพวกคุณกลายเป็นแบบอย่างแก่ผู้เชื่อทุกคนในแคว้นมาซิโดเนียและอาคายา
8For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing.
8เพราะถ้อยคำขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าได้แพร่ออกไปจากพวกคุณ ไม่ใช่เฉพาะในแคว้นมาซิโดเนียและอาคายาเท่านั้น แต่ความเชื่อที่พวกคุณมีต่อพระเจ้าก็แพร่ไปทุกแห่ง จนเราไม่จำเป็นต้องพูดอะไรอีก
9For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;
9เพราะคนเหล่านั้นเองเล่าถึงเราว่า พวกคุณต้อนรับเราอย่างไร และพวกคุณหันจากรูปเคารพมาหาพระเจ้าอย่างไร เพื่อรับใช้พระเจ้าผู้มีชีวิตอยู่และเที่ยงแท้
10And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.
10และเพื่อรอคอยพระบุตรของพระองค์จากสวรรค์ คือเยซู ผู้ที่พระเจ้าทำให้ฟื้นขึ้นจากความตาย และผู้ช่วยเราให้พ้นจากพระพิโรธที่จะมาถึง
