1Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians which is in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
1Paulo, Silvano e Timóteo, à igreja dos tessalonicenses em Deus Pai e no Senhor Jesus Cristo: Graça e paz a vocês da parte de Deus nosso Pai e do Senhor Jesus Cristo.
2We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers;
2Sempre damos graças a Deus por todos vocês, mencionando-os em nossas orações,
3Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;
3lembrando-nos sem cessar da sua obra de fé, do trabalho de amor e da perseverança da esperança em nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, diante do nosso Deus e Pai.
4Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God.
4Sabemos, irmãos amados por Deus, que vocês foram escolhidos,
5For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.
5porque o nosso Evangelho não chegou a vocês apenas em palavras, mas também em poder, no Espírito Santo e com muita convicção. Vocês sabem que tipo de homens demonstramos ser entre vocês, por amor a vocês.
6And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost:
6Vocês se tornaram imitadores nossos e do Senhor, tendo recebido a palavra em muita aflição, com a alegria do Espírito Santo,
7So that ye were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia.
7de modo que se tornaram exemplo para todos os que creem na Macedônia e na Acaia.
8For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing.
8Pois a palavra do Senhor se propagou a partir de vocês, não apenas na Macedônia e na Acaia, mas em todo lugar a fé que vocês têm em Deus se tornou conhecida, de modo que não precisamos dizer nada.
9For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;
9Pois eles mesmos relatam a nosso respeito que tipo de recepção tivemos de vocês, e como vocês se voltaram dos ídolos para Deus, para servir a um Deus vivo e verdadeiro,
10And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.
10e para esperar dos céus a seu Filho, a quem ele ressuscitou dentre os mortos: Jesus, que nos livra da ira vindoura.
