1O Lord, Almighty God of our fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and of their righteous seed;
1Ó Senhor Todo-Poderoso que estás nos céus, Deus de nossos antepassados Abraão, Isaque e Jacó, e de sua descendência justa,
2who hast made heaven and earth, with all the ornament thereof;
2tu que fizeste o céu e a terra, com toda a sua ordem,
3who hast bound the sea by the word of thy commandment; who hast shut up the deep, and sealed it by thy terrible and glorious name;
3que prendeste o mar pela palavra de teu mandamento, encerraste o abismo e o selaste com teu nome temível e glorioso,
4whom all men fear, and tremble before thy power;
4diante de quem todas as coisas temem e tremem perante teu poder,
5for the majesty of thy glory cannot be borne, and thine angry threatening toward sinners is importable:
5pois a majestade de tua glória é insuportável, e a ira de tua ameaça contra os pecadores não pode ser suportada.
6but thy merciful promise is unmeasurable and unsearchable;
6Tua promessa misericordiosa é imensurável e insondável,
7for thou art the most high Lord, of great compassion, longsuffering, very merciful, and repentest of the evils of men. Thou, O Lord, according to thy great goodness hast promised repentance and forgiveness to them that have sinned against thee: and of thine infinite mercies hast appointed repentance unto sinners, that they may be saved.
7pois tu és o Senhor Altíssimo, cheio de compaixão, paciente e abundante em misericórdia, e te compadeces do sofrimento humano.
8Thou therefore, O Lord, that art the God of the just, hast not appointed repentance to the just, as to Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, which have not sinned against thee; but thou hast appointed repentance unto me that am a sinner:
8Tu, ó Senhor, segundo tua grande bondade, prometeste arrependimento e perdão aos que pecaram contra ti. Em tuas infinitas misericórdias, estabeleceste o arrependimento para os pecadores, para que sejam salvos. Tu, portanto, ó Senhor, que és o Deus dos justos, não estabeleceste arrependimento para os justos, para Abraão, Isaque e Jacó, que não pecaram contra ti; mas estabeleceste arrependimento para mim, pecador.
9for I have sinned above the number of the sands of the sea. My transgressions, O Lord, are multiplied: my transgressions are multiplied, and I am not worthy to behold and see the height of heaven for the multitude of mine iniquities.
9Pois pequei mais do que o número dos grãos de areia do mar. Minhas transgressões se multiplicaram, ó Senhor, minhas transgressões se multiplicaram, e não sou digno de levantar os olhos e contemplar a altura do céu por causa da multidão de minhas iniquidades.
10I am bowed down with many iron bands, that I cannot lift up mine head, neither have any release: for I have provoked thy wrath, and done evil before thee: I did not thy will, neither kept I thy commandments: I have set up abominations, and have multiplied offences.
10Estou encurvado sob muitas correntes de ferro, de modo que não consigo levantar a cabeça por causa de meus pecados, e não tenho alívio algum; pois provoquei tua ira e fiz o que é mau diante de ti. Não fiz tua vontade nem guardei teus mandamentos. Levantei abominações e multipliquei coisas detestáveis.
11Now therefore I bow the knee of mine heart, beseeching thee of grace.
11Agora, portanto, dobro os joelhos de meu coração e te peço graça.
12I have sinned, O Lord, I have sinned, and I acknowledge mine iniquities:
12Pequei, ó Senhor, pequei, e reconheço minhas iniquidades.
13wherefore, I humbly beseech thee, forgive me, O Lord, forgive me, and destroy me not with mine iniquites. Be not angry with me for ever, by reserving evil for me; neither condemn me to the lower parts of the earth. For thou art the God, even the God of them that repent;
13Mas te suplico humildemente: perdoa-me, ó Senhor, perdoa-me, e não me destruas por causa de minhas iniquidades. Não permaneças irado comigo para sempre, reservando o mal para mim. Não me condenes às profundezas da terra. Pois tu, ó Senhor, és o Deus dos que se arrependem.
14and in me thou wilt shew all thy goodness: for thou wilt save me, that am unworthy, according to thy great mercy.
14Em mim mostrarás toda a tua bondade, pois me salvarás, embora eu seja indigno, segundo tua grande misericórdia.
15Therefore I will praise thee for ever all the days of my life: for all the powers of the heavens do praise thee, and thine is the glory for ever and ever. Amen.
15Então eu te louvarei para sempre, todos os dias de minha vida; pois todo o exército do céu canta teu louvor, e tua é a glória para todo o sempre. Amém.
