1But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
1Mas, quanto aos tempos e às épocas, irmãos, vocês não precisam que nada lhes seja escrito.
2For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
2Pois vocês mesmos sabem muito bem que o dia do Senhor virá como um ladrão na noite.
3For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
3Pois quando estiverem dizendo: “Paz e segurança”, então a destruição repentina virá sobre eles, como as dores de parto em uma mulher grávida; e de modo nenhum escaparão.
4But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
4Mas vocês, irmãos, não estão nas trevas, para que esse dia os surpreenda como um ladrão.
5Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
5Vocês todos são filhos da luz e filhos do dia. Nós não pertencemos à noite, nem às trevas;
6Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
6portanto, não durmamos, como fazem os demais, mas vigiemos e sejamos sóbrios.
7For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
7Pois os que dormem, dormem de noite; e os que se embriagam, embriagam-se de noite.
8But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
8Mas nós, que pertencemos ao dia, sejamos sóbrios, vestindo a couraça da fé e do amor, e tendo por capacete a esperança da salvação.
9For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
9Pois Deus não nos destinou para a ira, mas para obtermos a salvação por meio de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo,
10Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
10que morreu por nós, para que, quer vigiemos, quer durmamos, vivamos juntamente com ele.
11Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
11Portanto, exortem-se uns aos outros e edifiquem-se mutuamente, assim como vocês já o fazem.
12And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
12Mas pedimos a vocês, irmãos, que reconheçam aqueles que trabalham entre vocês, que os presidem no Senhor e os admoestam,
13And to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
13e que tenham por eles grande estima e amor, por causa do trabalho que realizam. Vivam em paz uns com os outros.
14Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men .
14Nós os exortamos, irmãos: Admoestem os desordeiros; encorajem os desanimados; amparem os fracos; sejam pacientes para com todos.
15See that none render evil for evil unto any man ; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men .
15Vejam que ninguém retribua mal por mal a ninguém, mas busquem sempre o que é bom uns para com os outros e para com todos.
16Rejoice evermore.
16Alegrem-se sempre.
17Pray without ceasing.
17Orem sem cessar.
18In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
18Em tudo deem graças, pois esta é a vontade de Deus para vocês em Cristo Jesus.
19Quench not the Spirit.
19Não apaguem o Espírito.
20Despise not prophesyings.
20Não desprezem as profecias.
21Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
21Ponham à prova todas as coisas e retenham firmemente o que é bom.
22Abstain from all appearance of evil.
22Abstenham-se de toda forma de mal.
23And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
23Que o próprio Deus de paz os santifique completamente. Que o espírito, a alma e o corpo de vocês sejam preservados por inteiro, irrepreensíveis na vinda de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.
24Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
24Aquele que os chama é fiel, e ele também o fará.
25Brethren, pray for us.
25Irmãos, orem por nós.
26Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss.
26Saúdem a todos os irmãos com um beijo santo.
27I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.
27Eu lhes ordeno solenemente pelo Senhor que esta carta seja lida a todos os santos irmãos.
28The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
28A graça de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo seja com vocês. Amém.
