1And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the South.
1อับรามออกจากอียิปต์ขึ้นไปยังดินแดนทางใต้ พร้อมกับภรรยา ทุกสิ่งที่เขามี และโลท
2And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.
2อับรามมั่งคั่งมากมีปศุสัตว์เงินและทอง
3And he went on his journeys from the South even to Beth-el, unto the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Beth-el and Ai;
3เขาเดินทางจากดินแดนทางใต้เป็นระยะ ๆ จนถึงเบเทล กลับมายังที่ซึ่งเคยกางเต็นท์ครั้งแรกระหว่างเบเทลกับอัย
4unto the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first; and Abram called there on the name of the LORD.
4คือที่ซึ่งเขาเคยสร้างแท่นบูชาไว้ในตอนแรก ที่นั่นอับรามเรียกหาพระยาห์เวห์โดยเอ่ยพระนามของพระองค์
5And Lot also, who went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents.
5โลทซึ่งเดินทางไปกับอับรามก็มีฝูงแกะฝูงโคและเต็นท์เช่นกัน
6And the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell together; for their substance was great, so that they could not dwell together.
6ดินแดนไม่กว้างพอให้ทั้งสองอาศัยอยู่ด้วยกันเพราะทรัพย์สินของพวกเขามากจนอยู่ร่วมกันไม่ได้
7And there was a strife between the herdmen of Abram's cattle and the herdmen of Lot's cattle. And the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelt then in the land.
7คนเลี้ยงสัตว์ของอับรามกับคนเลี้ยงสัตว์ของโลทจึงทะเลาะกัน เวลานั้นชาวคานาอันและชาวเปริสซีก็อาศัยอยู่ในดินแดนนั้น
8And Abram said unto Lot: 'Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we are brethren.
8อับรามพูดกับโลทว่า “เราเป็นญาติกัน อย่าให้ฉันกับเจ้าทะเลาะกัน หรือให้คนเลี้ยงสัตว์ของฉันกับคนเลี้ยงสัตว์ของเจ้าทะเลาะกัน
9Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me; if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou take the right hand, then I will go to the left.'
9ดินแดนทั้งหมดอยู่ตรงหน้าเจ้าไม่ใช่หรือ แยกจากฉันเถอะ ถ้าเจ้าไปทางซ้ายฉันจะไปทางขวา ถ้าเจ้าไปทางขวาฉันจะไปทางซ้าย”
10And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of the Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou goest unto Zoar.
10โลทมองไปก็เห็นที่ราบลุ่มแม่น้ำจอร์แดนทั้งหมดมีน้ำอุดมสมบูรณ์ไปทั่ว ตอนนั้นพระยาห์เวห์ยังไม่ได้ทำลายโสโดมและโกโมราห์ บริเวณนั้นเหมือนสวนของพระยาห์เวห์ และเหมือนดินแดนอียิปต์ไปจนถึงโซอาร์
11So Lot chose him all the plain of the Jordan; and Lot journeyed east; and they separated themselves the one from the other.
11โลทจึงเลือกที่ราบลุ่มจอร์แดนให้ตนเองแล้วเดินทางไปทางตะวันออก ทั้งสองก็แยกจากกัน
12Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelt in the cities of the Plain, and moved his tent as far as Sodom.
12อับรามอาศัยอยู่ในดินแดนคานาอัน ส่วนโลทอาศัยอยู่ตามเมืองในที่ราบ และย้ายเต็นท์ไปตั้งจนใกล้โสโดม
13Now the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners against the LORD exceedingly.
13คนเมืองโสโดมชั่วร้ายอย่างยิ่งและทำบาปต่อพระยาห์เวห์
14And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him: 'Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art, northward and southward and eastward and westward;
14หลังจากโลทแยกไปแล้ว พระยาห์เวห์กล่าวกับอับรามว่า “จากที่ซึ่งเจ้าอยู่ มองไปทางเหนือ ทางใต้ ทางตะวันออก และทางตะวันตก
15for all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.
15เพราะดินแดนทั้งหมดที่เจ้ามองเห็นเราจะมอบให้เจ้าและลูกหลานของเจ้าตลอดไป
16And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth; so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.
16เราจะทำให้ลูกหลานของเจ้ามากเหมือนฝุ่นบนแผ่นดิน ถ้าใครนับฝุ่นบนแผ่นดินได้ก็จะนับลูกหลานของเจ้าได้เช่นกัน
17Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for unto thee will I give it.'
17ลุกขึ้นเดินให้ทั่วดินแดนนี้ ทั้งตามแนวยาวและแนวกว้าง เพราะเราจะมอบดินแดนนี้ให้เจ้า”
18And Abram moved his tent, and came and dwelt by the terebinths of Mamre, which are in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the LORD.
18อับรามจึงย้ายเต็นท์มาอาศัยอยู่ใกล้ต้นโอ๊กของมัมเรซึ่งอยู่ที่เฮโบรนแล้วสร้างแท่นบูชาถวายพระยาห์เวห์ที่นั่น
