1And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the South.
1І зійшов же Аврам геть із Египту з жінкою своєю й усїм, що мав, і Лот із ним, на полуднє.
2And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.
2І був Аврам богатий вельми на скотину, на срібло й на золото.
3And he went on his journeys from the South even to Beth-el, unto the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Beth-el and Ai;
3І ходив мандрівками своїми все далїй і далїй із полуденньої землї до Бетеля, аж до того місця, де був його намет перше між Бетелем та Гаєм,
4unto the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first; and Abram called there on the name of the LORD.
4На те врочище, де спорудив жертівника вперве. І призвав там Аврам імя Господнє.
5And Lot also, who went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents.
5І в Лота, що ходив з Аврамом, були й вівцї і товар і намети.
6And the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell together; for their substance was great, so that they could not dwell together.
6І не вмішчала їх земля, щоб їм жити вкупі; бо майно їх було велике, так що не можна було жити вкупі.
7And there was a strife between the herdmen of Abram's cattle and the herdmen of Lot's cattle. And the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelt then in the land.
7І була звяга між чабанами скоту Аврамового і між чабанами скоту Лотового. Канаанеї ж і Ферезії тодї жили на землї тїй.
8And Abram said unto Lot: 'Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we are brethren.
8Рече ж Аврам Лотові: Нехай не буде звяги між мною й тобою і між чабанами моїми та чабанами твоїми: бо ми брати.
9Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me; if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou take the right hand, then I will go to the left.'
9Хиба ж не вся земля перед тобою? Відлучись від мене: коли ти налїво, я направо; коли ж ти направо, я налїво.
10And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of the Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou goest unto Zoar.
10І звівши Лот очі свої, побачив усю околицю Йорданську, що перше нїж зруйнував Господь Содому й Гоморру, вся до Сигора наповнена була водою, як сад Господень і як земля Египецька,
11So Lot chose him all the plain of the Jordan; and Lot journeyed east; and they separated themselves the one from the other.
11І вибрав собі Лот усю околицю Йорданську, і відїйшов Лот ід востоку, і розлучився кожен із братом своїм.
12Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelt in the cities of the Plain, and moved his tent as far as Sodom.
12Аврам осївся в землї Канаанській, а Лот осївся в городах околишнїх, і двинув з наметом своїм до Содому.
13Now the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners against the LORD exceedingly.
13Люде ж Содомські та були злющі й грішні перед Господом вельми.
14And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him: 'Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art, northward and southward and eastward and westward;
14Господь же рече Аврамові після того, як Лот розлучивсь із ним: Позирни очима твоїми, та поглянь од місця, де ти тепер, ід півночі, ід полудню, ід востоку, ід заходу.
15for all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.
15Бо всю землю, що ти вбачаєш, тобі оддам, і потомкам твоїм навіки.
16And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth; so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.
16І вчиню потомки твої, як пісок земляний; коли хто зможе злїчити пісок земляний, то й потомки твої злїчить.
17Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for unto thee will I give it.'
17Уставши, пройди землю в довжину і в ширину її; бо тобі оддам її.
18And Abram moved his tent, and came and dwelt by the terebinths of Mamre, which are in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the LORD.
18І відселившись Аврам, прийшов та й осївсь коло Мамрієвого дуба, що був у Гебронї, та й спорудив там жертівника Господеві.
