1And the life of Sarah was a hundred and seven and twenty years; these were the years of the life of Sarah.
1Було ж віку Сарриного сто і двайцять і сїм год. Се года живота Сарриного.
2And Sarah died in Kiriatharba — the same is Hebron — in the land of Canaan; and Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her.
2І вмерла Сарра в Кирят-Арбі. Се Геброн в Канаан землї. Прийшов же Авраам плакати по Саррі да падкувати.
3And Abraham rose up from before his dead, and spoke unto the children of Heth, saying:
3І встав Авраам од мерця свого, і рече синам Хетовим:
4'I am a stranger and a sojourner with you: give me a possession of a burying-place with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.'
4Пересельник і чужениця я в вас! Дайте ж менї в наслїддє гробовище між вами, щоб менї поховати мерця мого від мене.
5And the children of Heth answered Abraham, saying unto him:
5Відказали ж Авраамові сини Хетові говорючи:
6'Hear us, my lord: thou art a mighty prince among us; in the choice of our sepulchres bury thy dead; none of us shall withhold from thee his sepulchre, but that thou mayest bury thy dead.'
6Нї, добродію! Князь від Бога ти єси в нас; вибравши гробовище з наших, поховай мерця твого. Нїхто бо з нас не заборонить гробовища свого тобі, щоб тобі поховати мерця твого таменьки.
7And Abraham rose up, and bowed down to the people of the land, even to the children of Heth.
7Устав же Авраам і вклонився землякам, синам Хетовим.
8And he spoke with them, saying: 'If it be your mind that I should bury my dead out of my sight, hear me, and entreat for me to Ephron the son of Zohar,
8І каже до них Авраам і промовив: Коли вам по душі, щоб менї поховати мертве моє від мене, послухайте мене, і мовляйте про мене Ефронові Зогаренкові.
9that he may give me the cave of Machpelah, which he hath, which is in the end of his field; for the full price let him give it to me in the midst of you for a possession of a burying-place.'
9І нехай поступиться менї печерою Махпеловою, що конець поля його. За повну цїну нехай поступиться менї нею в наслїднє гробовище між вами.
10Now Ephron was sitting in the midst of the children of Heth; and Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the hearing of the children of Heth, even of all that went in at the gate of his city, saying:
10Ефрон же седїв посеред синів Хетових. Відказуючи ж Ефрон Хетїянин Авраамові каже так, що чули його сини Хетові і всї, що повиходили до міської царини.
11'Nay, my lord, hear me: the field give I thee, and the cave that is therein, I give it thee; in the presence of the sons of my people give I it thee; bury thy dead.'
11Нї, добродїю! Вислухай мене. Те поле оддаю тобі й печеру, що на йому, перед очима синів народу мого оддаю тобі; поховай мерця твого.
12And Abraham bowed down before the people of the land.
12І поклонивсь Авраам перед земляками,
13And he spoke unto Ephron in the hearing of the people of the land, saying: 'But if thou wilt, I pray thee, hear me: I will give the price of the field; take it of me, and I will bury my dead there.'
13І каже Ефронові в слухи перед усїма земляками: Вислухай ти мене! Гроші за ниву возьми в мене; і поховаю мертве моє таменьки.
14And Ephron answered Abraham, saying unto him:
14Відказав же Ефрон Авраамові:
15'My lord, hearken unto me: a piece of land worth four hundred shekels of silver, what is that betwixt me and thee? bury therefore thy dead.'
15Нї, добродїю! Землї тут за чотирі ста секлїв срібла; та що воно між мною й тобою? Ти ж поховай мерця твого.
16And Abraham hearkened unto Ephron; and Abraham weighed to Ephron the silver, which he had named in the hearing of the children of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, current money with the merchant.
16І послухав Авраам Ефрона, та й одважив Авраам Ефронові срібло, скільки він казав в слухи перед синами Хетовими, чотирі ста секлїв срібла ходячого в купцїв.
17So the field of Ephron, which was in Machpelah, which was before Mamre, the field, and the cave which was therein, and all the trees that were in the field, that were in all the border thereof round about, were made sure
17І стало поле Ефронове в Махпелщинї, що навпроти Мамрійщини, поле й печера на йому з усїма деревами на полї, що було в усїх межах своїх, забезпечене,
18unto Abraham for a possession in the presence of the children of Heth, before all that went in at the gate of his city.
18Авраамові в наслїдню державу перед синами Хетовими й перед усїма, що приходили до міської царини.
19And after this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah before Mamre — the same is Hebron — in the land of Canaan.
19І після того поховав Авраам Сарру, жінку свою, в печері Махпелевого поля, навпроти Мамрійщини. Се Геброн у Канаан землї.
20And the field, and the cave that is therein, were made sure unto Abraham for a possession of a burying-place by the children of Heth.
20Так дісталось Авраамові від синів Хетових поле й печера на йому в наслїдню державу на гробовище.
