1If there be a controversy between men, and they come unto judgment, and the judges judge them, by justifying the righteous, and condemning the wicked,
1ถ้ามีข้อพิพาทระหว่างชายสองคนและนำคดีขึ้นศาล ให้ผู้พิพากษาตัดสินให้ผู้ที่ทำถูกพ้นผิด และลงโทษผู้ที่ทำผิด
2then it shall be, if the wicked man deserve to be beaten, that the judge shall cause him to lie down, and to be beaten before his face, according to the measure of his wickedness, by number.
2ถ้าคนผิดสมควรถูกเฆี่ยน ผู้พิพากษาจะให้เขานอนลง แล้วเฆี่ยนต่อหน้าผู้พิพากษาตามจำนวนครั้งที่เหมาะกับความผิด
3Forty stripes he may give him, he shall not exceed; lest, if he should exceed, and beat him above these with many stripes, then thy brother should be dishonoured before thine eyes.
3จะสั่งเฆี่ยนได้ไม่เกินสี่สิบครั้ง ห้ามเกินกว่านั้น มิฉะนั้นถ้าเฆี่ยนมากกว่านี้ พี่น้องร่วมชาติของพวกคุณจะถูกทำให้อับอายต่อหน้าพวกคุณ
4Thou shalt not muzzle the ox when he treadeth out the corn.
4อย่าครอบปากวัวขณะที่มันกำลังย่ำธัญพืช
5If brethren dwell together, and one of them die, and have no child, the wife of the dead shall not be married abroad unto one not of his kin; her husband's brother shall go in unto her, and take her to him to wife, and perform the duty of a husband's brother unto her.
5ถ้าพี่น้องชายอยู่ร่วมกัน แล้วคนหนึ่งตายโดยไม่มีลูกชาย ภรรยาของผู้ตายห้ามแต่งงานกับคนนอกครอบครัว พี่หรือน้องชายของสามีต้องรับเธอเป็นภรรยาและอยู่กินกับเธอ และทำหน้าที่ของพี่หรือน้องชายของสามีต่อเธอ
6And it shall be, that the first-born that she beareth shall succeed in the name of his brother that is dead, that his name be not blotted out of Israel.
6ลูกหัวปีที่เธอคลอดจะสืบชื่อของพี่หรือน้องชายผู้ตาย เพื่อชื่อของเขาจะไม่ถูกลบออกจากอิสราเอล
7And if the man like not to take his brother's wife, then his brother's wife shall go up to the gate unto the elders, and say: 'My husband's brother refuseth to raise up unto his brother a name in Israel; he will not perform the duty of a husband's brother unto me.'
7แต่ถ้าชายคนนั้นไม่ต้องการรับหญิงม่ายเป็นภรรยา เธอจะไปหาพวกผู้ใหญ่ที่ประตูเมืองและพูดว่า “พี่หรือน้องชายของสามีฉันไม่ยอมรักษาชื่อของพี่น้องของตนไว้ในอิสราเอล และไม่ยอมทำหน้าที่ของพี่หรือน้องชายของสามีต่อฉัน”
8Then the elders of his city shall call him, and speak unto him; and if he stand, and say: 'I like not to take her';
8พวกผู้ใหญ่ของเมืองจะเรียกเขามาพูดด้วย ถ้าเขายืนยันว่า “ข้าพเจ้าไม่ต้องการรับเธอ”
9then shall his brother's wife draw nigh unto him in the presence of the elders, and loose his shoe from off his foot, and spit in his face; and she shall answer and say: 'So shall it be done unto the man that doth not build up his brother's house.'
9ภรรยาของพี่หรือน้องชายผู้ตายจะเข้าไปหาเขาต่อหน้าพวกผู้ใหญ่ ถอดรองเท้าของเขาออกจากเท้า แล้วถ่มน้ำลายใส่หน้า และพูดว่า “คนที่ไม่ยอมสร้างครอบครัวของพี่น้องตนขึ้นมา จะถูกทำเช่นนี้”
10And his name shall be called in Israel The house of him that had his shoe loosed.
10แล้วคนในอิสราเอลจะเรียกครอบครัวของเขาว่า “ครอบครัวของชายผู้ถูกถอดรองเท้า”
11When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draweth near to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, and putteth forth her hand, and taketh him by the secrets;
11ถ้าชายสองคนต่อสู้กัน และภรรยาของคนหนึ่งเข้ามาช่วยสามีให้พ้นจากมือของคนที่กำลังตีเขา แล้วเธอยื่นมือไปคว้าอวัยวะเพศของชายอีกคน
12then thou shalt cut off her hand, thine eye shall have no pity.
12จงตัดมือของเธอ อย่าสงสาร
13Thou shalt not have in thy bag diverse weights, a great and a small.
13อย่ามีลูกตุ้มน้ำหนักสองแบบในถุง คือแบบหนักกับแบบเบา
14Thou shalt not have in thy house diverse measures, a great and a small.
14อย่ามีเครื่องตวงสองแบบในบ้าน คือขนาดใหญ่กับขนาดเล็ก
15A perfect and just weight shalt thou have; a perfect and just measure shalt thou have; that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
15จงใช้ลูกตุ้มน้ำหนักที่เที่ยงตรงและยุติธรรม และใช้เครื่องตวงที่เที่ยงตรงและยุติธรรม เพื่อพวกคุณจะมีอายุยืนในแผ่นดินที่พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของพวกคุณประทานให้
16For all that do such things, even all that do unrighteously, are an abomination unto the LORD thy God.
16เพราะทุกคนที่ทำสิ่งเหล่านี้ ทุกคนที่ทำอย่างไม่ซื่อสัตย์ เป็นสิ่งน่าสะอิดสะเอียนต่อพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของพวกคุณ
17Remember what Amalek did unto thee by the way as ye came forth out of Egypt;
17จงจำสิ่งที่อามาเลขทำกับพวกคุณระหว่างทางเมื่อออกจากอียิปต์
18how he met thee by the way, and smote the hindmost of thee, all that were enfeebled in thy rear, when thou wast faint and weary; and he feared not God.
18เขาเข้าจู่โจมพวกคุณระหว่างทาง และโจมตีคนอ่อนแรงที่เดินรั้งท้าย ขณะที่พวกคุณเหนื่อยล้าและอ่อนเพลีย เขาไม่เกรงกลัวพระเจ้า
19Therefore it shall be, when the LORD thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemies round about, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not forget.
19เพราะฉะนั้น เมื่อพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของพวกคุณประทานให้ได้พักจากศัตรูรอบด้าน ในแผ่นดินที่พระองค์ประทานให้เป็นมรดกเพื่อครอบครอง จงลบความทรงจำถึงอามาเลขออกจากใต้ฟ้า อย่าลืม
