1Hear, O Israel: thou art to pass over the Jordan this day, to go in to dispossess nations greater and mightier than thyself, cities great and fortified up to heaven,
1อิสราเอล จงฟัง! วันนี้พวกคุณกำลังจะข้ามแม่น้ำจอร์แดน เข้าไปขับไล่ชนชาติที่ใหญ่และมีกำลังมากกว่า เมืองของพวกเขาใหญ่โตและมีกำแพงแข็งแรงสูงเสียดฟ้า
2a people great and tall, the sons of the Anakim, whom thou knowest, and of whom thou hast heard say: 'Who can stand before the sons of Anak?'
2ประชาชนเหล่านั้นตัวใหญ่และสูง เป็นลูกหลานของอานาค ซึ่งพวกคุณรู้จัก และเคยได้ยินคนพูดว่า ‘ใครจะยืนต้านลูกหลานของอานาคได้?’
3Know therefore this day, that the LORD thy God is He who goeth over before thee as a devouring fire; He will destroy them, and He will bring them down before thee; so shalt thou drive them out, and make them to perish quickly, as the LORD hath spoken unto thee.
3เพราะฉะนั้น วันนี้จงรู้ว่า พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของพวกคุณคือผู้ที่จะข้ามไปนำหน้าพวกคุณเหมือนไฟที่เผาผลาญ พระองค์จะทรงทำลายและทำให้พวกเขาพ่ายแพ้ต่อพวกคุณ แล้วพวกคุณจะขับไล่และทำให้พวกเขาพินาศอย่างรวดเร็ว ตามที่พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสไว้
4Speak not thou in thy heart, after that the LORD thy God hath thrust them out from before thee, saying: 'For my righteousness the LORD hath brought me in to possess this land'; whereas for the wickedness of these nations the LORD doth drive them out from before thee.
4เมื่อพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของพวกคุณทรงขับไล่พวกเขาออกไปแล้ว อย่าคิดในใจว่า ‘พระยาห์เวห์ทรงนำฉันเข้ามาครอบครองแผ่นดินนี้เพราะฉันเป็นคนชอบธรรม’ ที่จริงพระยาห์เวห์ทรงขับไล่ชนชาติเหล่านั้นเพราะความชั่วร้ายของพวกเขา
5Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thy heart, dost thou go in to possess their land; but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee, and that He may establish the word which the LORD swore unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
5ที่พวกคุณได้เข้าไปครอบครองแผ่นดินของพวกเขา ไม่ใช่เพราะพวกคุณเป็นคนชอบธรรมหรือมีใจซื่อตรง แต่เพราะความชั่วร้ายของชนชาติเหล่านั้น พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของพวกคุณจึงทรงขับไล่พวกเขาออกไป และเพื่อทรงยืนยันถ้อยคำที่พระยาห์เวห์ทรงปฏิญาณไว้กับบรรพบุรุษ คืออับราฮัม อิสอัค และยาโคบ
6Know therefore that it is not for thy righteousness that the LORD thy God giveth thee this good land to possess it; for thou art a stiffnecked people.
6เพราะฉะนั้น จงรู้ว่าที่พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของพวกคุณประทานแผ่นดินอันดีนี้ให้ครอบครอง ไม่ใช่เพราะพวกคุณเป็นคนชอบธรรม เพราะพวกคุณเป็นชนชาติหัวแข็ง
7Remember, forget thou not, how thou didst make the LORD thy God wroth in the wilderness; from the day that thou didst go forth out of the land of Egypt, until ye came unto this place, ye have been rebellious against the LORD.
7จงจำและอย่าลืมว่าพวกคุณเคยยั่วให้พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของพวกคุณทรงกริ้วในถิ่นทุรกันดารอย่างไร ตั้งแต่วันที่ออกจากแผ่นดินอียิปต์จนมาถึงที่นี่ พวกคุณกบฏต่อพระยาห์เวห์มาตลอด
8Also in Horeb ye made the LORD wroth, and the LORD was angered with you to have destroyed you.
8แม้แต่ที่โฮเรบ พวกคุณก็ยั่วให้พระยาห์เวห์ทรงกริ้ว จนพระองค์กริ้วมากและจะทำลายพวกคุณ
9When I was gone up into the mount to receive the tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant which the LORD made with you, then I abode in the mount forty days and forty nights; I did neither eat bread nor drink water.
9ตอนที่ผมขึ้นไปบนภูเขาเพื่อรับแผ่นศิลา คือแผ่นศิลาแห่งพันธสัญญาที่พระยาห์เวห์ทรงทำกับพวกคุณ ผมอยู่บนภูเขาสี่สิบวันสี่สิบคืน ไม่ได้กินขนมปังหรือดื่มน้ำเลย
10And the LORD delivered unto me the two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them was written according to all the words, which the LORD spoke with you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly.
10พระยาห์เวห์ทรงมอบแผ่นศิลาสองแผ่นที่จารึกด้วยนิ้วของพระเจ้าให้ผม บนนั้นมีถ้อยคำทั้งหมดที่พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสกับพวกคุณบนภูเขาจากกลางไฟในวันที่ประชุมกัน
11And it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, that the LORD gave me the two tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant.
11เมื่อครบสี่สิบวันสี่สิบคืน พระยาห์เวห์ทรงมอบแผ่นศิลาสองแผ่น คือแผ่นศิลาแห่งพันธสัญญาให้ผม
12And the LORD said unto me: 'Arise, get thee down quickly from hence; for thy people that thou hast brought forth out of Egypt have dealt corruptly; they are quickly turned aside out of the way which I commanded them; they have made them a molten image.'
12แล้วพระยาห์เวห์ตรัสว่า ‘ลุกขึ้น รีบลงจากที่นี่ เพราะประชาชนของเจ้าที่เจ้านำออกจากอียิปต์ได้ทำตัวเสื่อมทราม พวกเขาหันออกจากทางที่เราบัญชาอย่างรวดเร็ว และสร้างรูปหล่อขึ้นสำหรับตนเอง!’
13Furthermore the LORD spoke unto me, saying: 'I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people;
13พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสกับผมอีกว่า ‘เราเห็นประชาชนนี้แล้ว ดูสิ พวกเขาเป็นชนชาติหัวแข็ง
14let Me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under heaven; and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they.'
14อย่าห้ามเราเลย เราจะทำลายพวกเขาและลบชื่อของพวกเขาให้สูญไปจากใต้ฟ้า แล้วเราจะทำให้เจ้าเป็นชนชาติที่ใหญ่และมีกำลังมากกว่าพวกเขา’
15So I turned and came down from the mount, and the mount burned with fire; and the two tables of the covenant were in my two hands.
15ผมจึงหันและลงจากภูเขา ขณะที่ภูเขากำลังลุกเป็นไฟ แผ่นศิลาแห่งพันธสัญญาทั้งสองแผ่นอยู่ในมือทั้งสองของผม
16And I looked, and, behold, ye had sinned against the LORD your God; ye had made you a molten calf; ye had turned aside quickly out of the way which the LORD had commanded you.
16ผมมองและเห็นว่าพวกคุณทำบาปต่อพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของพวกคุณ โดยสร้างรูปลูกวัวหล่อขึ้น พวกคุณหันออกจากทางที่พระยาห์เวห์ทรงบัญชาอย่างรวดเร็ว
17And I took hold of the two tables, and cast them out of my two hands, and broke them before your eyes.
17ผมจึงคว้าแผ่นศิลาทั้งสอง โยนออกจากมือทั้งสอง และทำแตกต่อหน้าต่อตาพวกคุณ
18And I fell down before the LORD, as at the first, forty days and forty nights; I did neither eat bread nor drink water; because of all your sin which ye sinned, in doing that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke Him.
18แล้วผมหมอบลงต่อหน้าพระยาห์เวห์เหมือนครั้งแรก เป็นเวลาสี่สิบวันสี่สิบคืน ไม่ได้กินขนมปังหรือดื่มน้ำ เพราะบาปทั้งหมดที่พวกคุณทำ คือทำสิ่งชั่วร้ายในสายตาของพระยาห์เวห์จนยั่วให้พระองค์ทรงกริ้ว
19For I was in dread of the anger and hot displeasure, wherewith the LORD was wroth against you to destroy you. But the LORD hearkened unto me that time also.
19ผมกลัวว่าพระยาห์เวห์จะทรงกริ้วและเดือดดาลพวกคุณจนทำลาย แต่ครั้งนั้นพระยาห์เวห์ก็ทรงฟังผมอีก
20Moreover the LORD was very angry with Aaron to have destroyed him; and I prayed for Aaron also the same time.
20พระยาห์เวห์ทรงกริ้วอาโรนมากจนจะทำลายเขา เวลานั้นผมจึงวิงวอนเพื่ออาโรนด้วย
21And I took your sin, the calf which ye had made, and burnt it with fire, and beat it in pieces, grinding it very small, until it was as fine as dust; and I cast the dust thereof into the brook that descended out of the mount. —
21ส่วนบาปของพวกคุณ คือรูปลูกวัวที่สร้างขึ้น ผมเอาไปเผาไฟ ทุบและบดจนละเอียดเหมือนฝุ่น แล้วเทฝุ่นนั้นลงในลำธารที่ไหลลงมาจากภูเขา
22And at Taberah, and at Massah, and at Kibroth-hattaavah, ye made the LORD wroth.
22ที่ทาเบราห์ มัสสาห์ และคิบโรทฮัททาอาวาห์ พวกคุณก็ยั่วให้พระยาห์เวห์ทรงกริ้ว
23And when the LORD sent you from Kadesh-barnea, saying: 'Go up and possess the land which I have given you'; then ye rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God, and ye believed Him not, nor hearkened to His voice.
23เมื่อพระยาห์เวห์ส่งพวกคุณออกจากคาเดชบารเนียโดยตรัสว่า ‘จงขึ้นไปครอบครองแผ่นดินที่เรามอบให้’ พวกคุณกบฏต่อพระบัญชาของพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของพวกคุณ ไม่วางใจพระองค์และไม่ฟังเสียงของพระองค์
24Ye have been rebellious against the LORD from the day that I knew you. —
24พวกคุณกบฏต่อพระยาห์เวห์มาตั้งแต่วันที่ผมรู้จักพวกคุณ
25So I fell down before the LORD the forty days and forty nights that I fell down; because the LORD had said He would destroy you.
25เพราะพระยาห์เวห์ตรัสว่าจะทำลายพวกคุณ ผมจึงหมอบลงต่อหน้าพระยาห์เวห์ตลอดสี่สิบวันสี่สิบคืนนั้น
26And I prayed unto the LORD, and said: 'O Lord GOD, destroy not Thy people and Thine inheritance, that Thou hast redeemed through Thy greatness, that Thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand.
26ผมวิงวอนพระยาห์เวห์ว่า ‘องค์เจ้านายพระยาห์เวห์ ขออย่าทรงทำลายประชากรและมรดกของพระองค์ ซึ่งทรงไถ่ไว้ด้วยความยิ่งใหญ่ และทรงพาออกจากอียิปต์ด้วยมืออันทรงพลัง
27Remember Thy servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; look not unto the stubbornness of this people, nor to their wickedness, nor to their sin;
27ขอทรงระลึกถึงผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์ คืออับราฮัม อิสอัค และยาโคบ อย่าทรงมองความดื้อรั้น ความชั่วร้าย หรือบาปของประชาชนนี้
28lest the land whence Thou broughtest us out say: Because the LORD was not able to bring them into the land which He promised unto them, and because He hated them, He hath brought them out to slay them in the wilderness.
28มิฉะนั้นแผ่นดินที่พระองค์ทรงพาเราออกมาจะพูดว่า “เพราะพระยาห์เวห์ไม่สามารถนำพวกเขาเข้าไปในแผ่นดินที่ทรงสัญญาไว้ และเพราะทรงเกลียดพวกเขา จึงพาออกมาเพื่อฆ่าในถิ่นทุรกันดาร”
29Yet they are Thy people and Thine inheritance, that Thou didst bring out by Thy great power and by Thy outstretched arm.'
29แต่พวกเขาเป็นประชากรและมรดกของพระองค์ ซึ่งทรงพาออกมาด้วยฤทธานุภาพอันยิ่งใหญ่และแขนที่เหยียดออก’
