1Unto the end, for Idithun himself, a canticle of David.
1‌ʻE Sihova, ʻoua naʻa ke valokiʻi au ʻi ho houhau: pea ʻoua naʻa ke valokiʻi au ʻi ho houhau vela.
2I said: I will take heed to my ways: that I sin not with my tongue. I have set guard to my mouth, when the sinner stood against me.
2He ʻoku tau maʻu ʻiate au hoʻo ngaahi ngahau, pea ʻoku taʻomia fakamamahi au ʻe ho nima.
3I was dumb, and was humbled, and kept silence from good things: and my sorrow was renewed.
3‌ʻOku ʻikai ha haohaoa ʻi hoku kakano ko e meʻa ʻi ho houhau; pea ʻoku ʻikai ha fiemālie ʻi hoku hui ko e meʻa ʻi heʻeku angahala.
4My heart grew hot within me: and in my meditation a fire shall flame out.
4He kuo hake ʻa ʻeku ngaahi hia ʻo ʻufiʻufi hoku ʻulu: ʻo hangē ko e kavenga mamafa ʻoku taʻomia ai au.
5I spoke with my tongue: O Lord, make me know my end. And what is the number of my days: that I may know what is wanting to me.
5‌ʻOku ʻeho hoku ngaahi lavea ʻo fakalielia koeʻuhi ko ʻeku vale.
6Behold thou hast made my days measurable: and my substance is as nothing before thee. And indeed all things are vanity: every man living.
6‌ʻOku ou mamahi; ʻoku ou mapelu ki lalo ʻaupito; ʻoku ou ʻalu mamahi pe ʻi he ʻaho kotoa.
7Surely man passeth as an image: yea, and he is disquieted in vain. He storeth up: and he knoweth not for whom he shall gather these things.
7He ʻoku fonu hoku sino ʻi he mahaki kovi: pea ʻoku ʻikai ha moʻui haohaoa ʻi hoku kakano.
8And now what is my hope? is it not the Lord? and my substance is with thee.
8‌ʻOku ou vaivai mo mafesi ʻi he mamahi: naʻaku kalanga ko e meʻa ʻi he mamahi ʻo hoku loto.
9Deliver thou me from all my iniquities: thou hast made me a reproach to the fool.
9‌ʻE ʻEiki, ʻoku ʻi ho ʻao ʻeku holi kotoa pē; mo ʻeku ngaahi toʻe ʻoku ʻikai fufū ʻiate koe.
10I was dumb, and I opened not my mouth, because thou hast done it.
10‌ʻOku tatupe hoku mafu, kuo ʻosi ʻeku mālohi: pea ko e maama ʻo hoku mata kuo mole foki ia ʻiate au.
11Remove thy scourges from me. The strength of thy hand hath made me faint in rebukes:
11Ko hoku kaumeʻa ʻofa mo hoku ngaahi kāinga ʻoku nau tutuʻu ʻi he mamaʻo mei hoku teʻia; mo hoku kaungāʻapi ʻoku nau tutuʻu ʻi he mamaʻo.
12Thou hast corrected man for iniquity. And thou hast made his soul to waste away like a spider: surely in vain is any man disquieted.
12Ko kinautolu foki ʻoku kumi ki heʻeku moʻui ʻoku nau tō ʻae ngaahi tauhele kiate au: ko kinautolu ʻoku kumi ke u kovi ʻoku nau lea ʻaki ʻae ngaahi meʻa kovi, mo nau fakakaukau ki he meʻa kākā ʻi he ʻaho kotoa.
13Hear my prayer, O Lord, and my supplication: give ear to my tears. Be not silent: for I am a stranger with thee, and a sojourner as all my fathers were.
13Ka ko au, hangē ko ha tuli, ʻoku ʻikai te u ongoʻi; pea naʻaku hangē ko e tangata ʻoku noa ʻaia ʻoku ʻikai mafaʻa hono ngutu.
14O forgive me, that I may be refreshed, before I go hence, and be no more.
14Pea naʻaku hangē ko e tangata taʻeongoʻi, pea ʻoku ʻikai ha valoki ʻi hono ngutu.
