1And it came to pass, that in those days there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that the whole world should be enrolled.
1當那些日子，凱撒 奧古斯都 有旨意下來，叫天下人民都報名上冊。
2This enrolling was first made by Cyrinus, the governor of Syria.
2這是 居里扭 作 敘利亞 巡撫的時候，頭一次行報名上冊的事。
3And all went to be enrolled, every one into his own city.
3眾人各歸各城，報名上冊。
4And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem: because he was of the house and family of David,
4約瑟 也從 加利利 的 拿撒勒 城上 猶太 去，到了 大衛 的城，名叫 伯利恆 ，因他本是 大衛 一族一家的人，
5To be enrolled with Mary his espoused wife, who was with child.
5要和他所聘之妻 馬利亞 一同報名上冊。那時 馬利亞 的身孕已經重了。
6And it came to pass, that when they were there, her days were accomplished, that she should be delivered.
6他們在那裏的時候， 馬利亞 的產期到了，
7And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him up in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
7就生了頭胎的兒子，用布包起來，放在馬槽裏，因為客店裏沒有地方。
8And there were in the same country shepherds watching, and keeping the night watches over their flock.
8在 伯利恆 之野地裏有牧羊的人，夜間按着更次看守羊群。
9And behold an angel of the Lord stood by them, and the brightness of God shone round about them; and they feared with a great fear.
9有主的使者站在他們旁邊，主的榮光四面照着他們；牧羊的人就甚懼怕。
10And the angel said to them: Fear not; for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, that shall be to all the people:
10那天使對他們說：「不要懼怕！我報給你們大喜的信息，是關乎萬民的；
11For, this day, is born to you a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord, in the city of David.
11因今天在 大衛 的城裏，為你們生了救主，就是主基督。
12And this shall be a sign unto you. You shall find the infant wrapped in swaddling clothes, and laid in a manger.
12你們要看見一個嬰孩，包着布，臥在 馬 槽裏，那就是記號了。」
13And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly army, praising God, and saying:
13忽然，有一大隊天兵同那天使讚美上帝說：
14Glory to God in the highest; and on earth peace to men of good will.
14在至高之處榮耀歸與上帝！ 在地上平安歸與他所喜悅的人 ！
15And it came to pass, after the angels departed from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another: Let us go over to Bethlehem, and let us see this word that is come to pass, which the Lord hath shewed to us.
15眾天使離開他們，升天去了。牧羊的人彼此說：「我們往 伯利恆 去，看看所成的事，就是主所指示我們的。」
16And they came with haste; and they found Mary and Joseph, and the infant lying in the manger.
16他們急忙去了，就尋見 馬利亞 和 約瑟 ，又有那嬰孩臥在 馬 槽裏；
17And seeing, they understood of the word that had been spoken to them concerning this child.
17既然看見，就把天使論這孩子的話傳開了。
18And all that heard, wondered; and at those things that were told them by the shepherds.
18凡聽見的，就詫異牧羊之人對他們所說的話。
19But Mary kept all these words, pondering them in her heart.
19馬利亞 卻把這一切的事存在心裏，反覆思想。
20And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God, for all the things they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.
20牧羊的人回去了，因所聽見所看見的一切事，正如 天使 向他們所說的，就歸榮耀與上帝，讚美他。
21And after eight days were accomplished, that the child should be circumcised, his name was called JESUS, which was called by the angel, before he was conceived in the womb.
21滿了八天，就給孩子行割禮，與他起名叫耶穌；這就是沒有成胎以前，天使所起的名。
22And after the days of her purification, according to the law of Moses, were accomplished, they carried him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord:
22按 摩西 律法滿了潔淨的日子，他們帶着孩子上 耶路撒冷 去，要把他獻與主，（
23As it is written in the law of the Lord: Every male opening the womb shall be called holy to the Lord:
23正如主的律法上所記：「凡頭生的男子必稱聖歸主。」）
24And to offer a sacrifice, according as it is written in the law of the Lord, a pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons:
24又要照主的律法上所說，或用一對斑鳩，或用兩隻雛鴿獻祭。
25And behold there was a man in Jerusalem named Simeon, and this man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel; and the Holy Ghost was in him.
25在 耶路撒冷 有一個人，名叫 西面 ；這人又公義又虔誠，素常盼望 以色列 的安慰 者 來到，又有聖靈在他身上。
26And he had received an answer from the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Christ of the Lord.
26他得了聖靈的啟示，知道自己未死以前，必看見主所立的基督。
27And he came by the Spirit into the temple. And when his parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him according to the custom of the law,
27他受了 聖 靈的感動，進入聖殿，正遇見耶穌的父母抱着孩子進來，要照律法的規矩辦理。
28He also took him into his arms, and blessed God, and said:
28西面 就用手接過他來，稱頌上帝說：
29Now thou dost dismiss thy servant, O Lord, according to thy word in peace;
29主啊！如今可以照你的話， 釋放僕人安然去世；
30Because my eyes have seen thy salvation,
30因為我的眼睛已經看見你的救恩－
31Which thou hast prepared before the face of all peoples:
31就是你在萬民面前所預備的：
32A light to the revelation of the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.
32是照亮外邦人的光， 又是你民 以色列 的榮耀。
33And his father and mother were wondering at those things which were spoken concerning him.
33孩子的父母因這論耶穌的話就希奇。
34And Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary his mother: Behold this child is set for the fall, and for the resurrection of many in Israel, and for a sign which shall be contradicted;
34西面 給他們祝福，又對孩子的母親 馬利亞 說：「這 孩子 被立，是要叫 以色列 中許多人跌倒，許多人興起；又要作毀謗的話柄，叫許多人心裏的意念顯露出來；你自己的心也要被刀刺透。」
35And thy own soul a sword shall pierce, that, out of many hearts, thoughts may be revealed.

36And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser; she was far advanced in years, and had lived with her husband seven years from her virginity.
36又有女先知，名叫 亞拿 ，是 亞設 支派 法內力 的女兒，年紀已經老邁，從作童女出嫁的時候，同丈夫住了七年就寡居了，
37And she was a widow until fourscore and four years; who departed not from the temple, by fastings and prayers serving night and day.
37現在已經八十四歲，並不離開聖殿，禁食祈求，晝夜事奉上帝。
38Now she, at the same hour, coming in, confessed to the Lord; and spoke of him to all that looked for the redemption of Israel.
38正當那時，她進前來稱謝上帝，將孩子的事對一切盼望 耶路撒冷 得救贖的人講說。
39And after they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their city Nazareth.
39約瑟 和 馬利亞 照主的律法辦完了一切的事，就回 加利利 ，到自己的城 拿撒勒 去了。
40And the child grew, and waxed strong, full of wisdom; and the grace of God was in him.
40孩子漸漸長大，強健起來，充滿智慧，又有上帝的恩在他身上。
41And his parents went every year to Jerusalem, at the solemn day of the pasch,
41每年到逾越節，他父母就上 耶路撒冷 去。
42And when he was twelve years old, they going up into Jerusalem, according to the custom of the feast,
42當他十二歲的時候，他們按着節期的規矩上去。
43And having fulfilled the days, when they returned, the child Jesus remained in Jerusalem; and his parents knew it not.
43守滿了節期，他們回去，孩童耶穌仍舊在 耶路撒冷 。他的父母並不知道，
44And thinking that he was in the company, they came a day’s journey, and sought him among their kinsfolks and acquaintance.
44以為他在同行的人中間，走了一天的路程，就在親族和熟識的人中找他，
45And not finding him, they returned into Jerusalem, seeking him.
45既找不着，就回 耶路撒冷 去找他。
46And it came to pass, that, after three days, they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, hearing them, and asking them questions.
46過了三天，就遇見他在殿裏，坐在教師中間，一面聽，一面問。
47And all that heard him were astonished at his wisdom and his answers.
47凡聽見他的，都希奇他的聰明和他的應對。
48And seeing him, they wondered. And his mother said to him: Son, why hast thou done so to us? behold thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.
48他父母看見就很希奇。他母親對他說：「我兒！為甚麼向我們這樣行呢？看哪，你父親和我傷心來找你！」
49And he said to them: How is it that you sought me? did you not know, that I must be about my father’s business?
49耶穌說：「為甚麼找我呢？豈不知我應當以我父的事為念嗎 ？」
50And they understood not the word that he spoke unto them.
50他所說的這話，他們不明白。
51And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them. And his mother kept all these words in her heart.
51他就同他們下去，回到 拿撒勒 ，並且順從他們。他母親把這一切的事都存在心裏。
52And Jesus advanced in wisdom, and age, and grace with God and men.
52耶穌的智慧和身量，並上帝和人喜愛他的心，都一齊增長。
