1Paul and Sylvanus and Timothy: to the church of the Thessalonians, in God the Father, and in the Lord Jesus Christ.
1保羅 、 西拉 、 提摩太 寫信給 帖撒羅尼迦 在父上帝和主耶穌基督裏的教會。願恩惠、平安歸與你們！
2Grace be to you and peace. We give thanks to God always for you all; making a remembrance of you in our prayers without ceasing,
2我們為你們眾人常常感謝上帝，禱告的時候提到你們，
3Being mindful of the work of your faith, and labour, and charity, and of the enduring of the hope of our Lord Jesus Christ before God and our Father:
3在上帝－我們的父面前，不住地記念你們因信心所做的工夫，因愛心所受的勞苦，因盼望我們主耶穌基督所存的忍耐。
4Knowing, brethren beloved of God, your election:
4被上帝所愛的弟兄啊，我知道你們是蒙揀選的；
5For our gospel hath not been unto you in word only, but in power also, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much fulness, as you know what manner of men we have been among you for your sakes.
5因為我們的福音傳到你們那裏，不獨在乎言語，也在乎權能和聖靈，並充足的信心。正如你們知道，我們在你們那裏，為你們的緣故是怎樣為人。
6And you became followers of us, and of the Lord; receiving the word in much tribulation, with joy of the Holy Ghost:
6並且你們在大難之中，蒙了聖靈所賜的喜樂，領受真道就效法我們，也效法了主；
7So that you were made a pattern to all that believe in Macedonia and in Achaia.
7甚至你們作了 馬其頓 和 亞該亞 所有信 主 之人的榜樣。
8For from you was spread abroad the word of the Lord, not only in Macedonia, and in Achaia, but also in every place, your faith which is towards God, is gone forth, so that we need not to speak any thing.
8因為主的道從你們那裏已經傳揚出來。你們向上帝的信心不但在 馬其頓 和 亞該亞 ，就是在各處也都傳開了，所以不用我們說甚麼話。
9For they themselves relate of us, what manner of entering in we had unto you; and how you turned to God from idols, to serve the living and true God.
9因為他們自己已經報明我們是怎樣進到你們那裏，你們是怎樣離棄偶像，歸向上帝，要服事那又真又活的上帝，
10And to wait for his Son from heaven (whom he raised up from the dead,) Jesus, who hath delivered us from the wrath to come.
10等候他兒子從天降臨，就是他從死裏復活的－那位救我們脫離將來忿怒的耶穌。
