1ในเวลานั้น เมโรดัค-บาลาดัน บุตรบาลาดัน กษัตริย์แห่งบาบิโลน ส่งจดหมายและของขวัญให้เฮเซคียาห์ เพราะได้ยินว่าพระองค์ป่วยแล้วหาย
1At that time Merodach-baladan the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent a letter and a present to Hezekiah; for he heard that he had been sick, and was recovered.
2เฮเซคียาห์ยินดีกับพวกเขา ให้ดูคลังของมีค่า เงิน ทอง เครื่องเทศ น้ำมันล้ำค่า คลังอาวุธทั้งหมด และทุกสิ่งในทรัพย์สมบัติ ไม่มีสิ่งใดในวังหรือทั่วอาณาจักรที่ไม่ให้พวกเขาดู
2And Hezekiah was glad of them, and showed them his treasure-house, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious oil, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures; there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah showed them not.
3อิสยาห์ผู้เผยพระวจนะมาถามกษัตริย์เฮเซคียาห์ว่า “คนเหล่านี้พูดอะไร? มาจากไหน?” เฮเซคียาห์ตอบว่า “มาจากแผ่นดินไกลจากข้าพเจ้า คือบาบิโลน”
3Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him: 'What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee?' And Hezekiah said: 'They are come from a far country unto me, even from Babylon.'
4อิสยาห์ถามว่า “พวกเขาเห็นอะไรในวังของท่าน?” เฮเซคียาห์ตอบว่า “เห็นทุกสิ่งในวัง ไม่มีสิ่งใดในสมบัติที่ข้าพเจ้าไม่ให้ดู”
4Then said he: 'What have they seen in thy house?' And Hezekiah answered: 'All that is in my house have they seen; there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shown them.'
5อิสยาห์บอกเฮเซคียาห์ว่า “จงฟังคำพระยาห์เวห์แห่งกองทัพ
5Then said Isaiah to Hezekiah: 'Hear the word of the LORD of hosts:
6‘ดูเถิด วันจะมาถึง เมื่อทุกสิ่งในวัง สิ่งที่บรรพบุรุษสะสมจนวันนี้ จะถูกขนไปบาบิโลน ไม่เหลืออะไร’ พระยาห์เวห์กล่าว
6Behold, the days come, that all that is in thy house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon; nothing shall be left, saith the LORD.
7‘พวกเขาจะพาบุตรชายที่เกิดจากเจ้า ที่เจ้าจะเป็นบิดา ไปเป็นขันทีในวังกษัตริย์แห่งบาบิโลน’”
7And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, whom thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be officers in the palace of the king of Babylon.'
8เฮเซคียาห์บอกอิสยาห์ว่า “คำพระยาห์เวห์ที่ท่านกล่าวนั้นดี” และกล่าวอีกว่า “เพราะในสมัยข้าพเจ้าจะมีสันติสุขและความจริง”
8Then said Hezekiah unto Isaiah: 'Good is the word of the LORD which thou hast spoken.' He said moreover: 'If but there shall be peace and truth in my days.'
