1หลังจากเหตุการณ์เหล่านี้พระเจ้าทดสอบอับราฮัมและเรียกว่า“อับราฮัม!” อับราฮัมตอบว่า“ผมอยู่นี่”
1And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am .
2พระเจ้ากล่าวว่า“พาลูกชายของเจ้าลูกคนเดียวของเจ้าคืออิสอัคที่เจ้ารักไปยังดินแดนโมริยาห์แล้วถวายเขาเป็นเครื่องบูชาเผาบนภูเขาลูกหนึ่งที่เราจะบอกเจ้า”
2And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.
3เช้าตรู่อับราฮัมลุกขึ้นใส่อานลาพาคนหนุ่มสองคนกับอิสอัคลูกชายไปด้วย เขาผ่าฟืนสำหรับเครื่องบูชาเผาแล้วออกเดินทางไปยังที่ซึ่งพระเจ้าบอก
3¶ And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.
4วันที่ 3 อับราฮัมมองขึ้นไปและเห็นสถานที่นั้นอยู่ไกลๆ
4Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.
5อับราฮัมพูดกับคนหนุ่มสองคนว่า“พวกเจ้าอยู่ที่นี่กับลา ฉันกับลูกจะไปที่โน่นเพื่อนมัสการแล้วจะกลับมาหาพวกเจ้า”
5And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.
6อับราฮัมเอาฟืนสำหรับเครื่องบูชาเผาวางบนอิสอัคลูกชายส่วนตัวเขาถือไฟกับมีด แล้วทั้งสองเดินไปด้วยกัน
6And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.
7อิสอัคพูดกับอับราฮัมพ่อว่า“พ่อครับ” อับราฮัมตอบว่า“พ่ออยู่นี่ลูก” อิสอัคถามว่า“ไฟกับฟืนก็อยู่นี่แล้วแต่ลูกแกะสำหรับเครื่องบูชาเผาอยู่ไหน”
7And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?
8อับราฮัมตอบว่า“ลูกเอ๋ยพระเจ้าจะจัดหาลูกแกะสำหรับเครื่องบูชาเผาเอง” แล้วทั้งสองก็เดินไปด้วยกัน
8And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.
9เมื่อมาถึงที่ซึ่งพระเจ้าบอกอับราฮัมก็สร้างแท่นบูชาจัดฟืนให้เป็นระเบียบมัดอิสอัคลูกชายแล้ววางเขาบนแท่นเหนือฟืน
9And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.
10อับราฮัมยื่นมือไปหยิบมีดเพื่อจะฆ่าลูกชาย
10And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.
11แต่ทูตของพระยาห์เวห์เรียกเขาจากท้องฟ้าว่า“อับราฮัมอับราฮัม!” อับราฮัมตอบว่า“ผมอยู่นี่”
11And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.
12ทูตกล่าวว่า“อย่าลงมือกับเด็กและอย่าทำอะไรเขาตอนนี้เรารู้แล้วว่าเจ้ายำเกรงพระเจ้าเพราะเจ้าไม่หวงแม้แต่ลูกชายลูกคนเดียวของเจ้าแต่ยอมมอบเขาให้เรา”
12And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.
13อับราฮัมมองขึ้นไปก็เห็นแกะตัวผู้ตัวหนึ่งอยู่ข้างหลังเขาของมันติดอยู่ในพุ่มไม้อับราฮัมจึงไปจับแกะตัวนั้นมาถวายเป็นเครื่องบูชาเผาแทนลูกชาย
13And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
14อับราฮัมตั้งชื่อสถานที่นั้นว่า“พระยาห์เวห์จะจัดหา” จนถึงทุกวันนี้จึงมีคำพูดว่า“บนภูเขาของพระยาห์เวห์พระองค์จะจัดหาให้”
14And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.
15ทูตของพระยาห์เวห์เรียกอับราฮัมจากท้องฟ้าเป็นครั้งที่ 2
15¶ And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,
16ทูตกล่าวต่อว่า“พระยาห์เวห์กล่าวว่า‘เราสาบานด้วยตัวเราเองว่าเพราะเจ้าทำสิ่งนี้และไม่หวงลูกชายลูกคนเดียวของเจ้า
16And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD , for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:
17เราจะอวยพรเจ้าอย่างมากและจะทำให้ลูกหลานของเจ้าเพิ่มมากเหมือนดาวบนท้องฟ้าและเหมือนเม็ดทรายริมทะเล ลูกหลานของเจ้าจะยึดประตูเมืองของศัตรู
17That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;
18ทุกชนชาติบนแผ่นดินจะได้รับพรผ่านลูกหลานของเจ้าเพราะเจ้าเชื่อฟังเสียงของเรา’”
18And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.
19อับราฮัมกลับมาหาคนหนุ่มของเขาแล้วพวกเขาก็ลุกเดินทางไปเบเออร์เชบาด้วยกัน อับราฮัมอาศัยอยู่ที่เบเออร์เชบา
19So Abraham returned unto his young men, and they rose up and went together to Beer-sheba; and Abraham dwelt at Beer-sheba.
20หลังจากเหตุการณ์เหล่านี้มีคนมาบอกอับราฮัมว่า“มิลคาห์ก็มีลูกให้นาโฮร์ซึ่งเป็นพี่น้องกับท่านแล้ว
20¶ And it came to pass after these things, that it was told Abraham, saying, Behold, Milcah, she hath also born children unto thy brother Nahor;
21คืออูสลูกหัวปี บูสซึ่งเป็นพี่น้องกับอูส และเคมูเอลพ่อของอารัม
21Huz his firstborn, and Buz his brother, and Kemuel the father of Aram,
22เคเสด ฮาโซ ปิลดาช ยิดลาฟและเบธูเอล”
22And Chesed, and Hazo, and Pildash, and Jidlaph, and Bethuel.
23เบธูเอลเป็นพ่อของเรเบคาห์ มิลคาห์คลอดลูกทั้ง 8 คนนี้ให้นาโฮร์ซึ่งเป็นพี่น้องกับอับราฮัม
23And Bethuel begat Rebekah: these eight Milcah did bear to Nahor, Abraham’s brother.
24เรอูมาห์อนุภรรยาของนาโฮร์ก็คลอดเทบาห์ กาฮัม ทาฮาชและมาอาคาห์ให้เขา
24And his concubine, whose name was Reumah, she bare also Tebah, and Gaham, and Thahash, and Maachah.
