1ฮีราม กษัตริย์เมืองไทระ ส่งทูตมาหาดาวิด พร้อมไม้สนซีดาร์ ช่างก่อหิน และช่างไม้ เพื่อสร้างวังให้ดาวิด
1And Huram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar-trees, and masons, and carpenters, to build him a house.
2ดาวิดตระหนักว่าพระยาห์เวห์ทรงตั้งเขาเป็นกษัตริย์เหนืออิสราเอล และทรงยกอาณาจักรของเขาขึ้นอย่างสูงเพื่อประโยชน์แก่ชาวอิสราเอลซึ่งเป็นประชาชนของพระองค์
2And David perceived that the LORD had established him king over Israel, for his kingdom was exalted exceedingly, for His people Israel's sake.
3ดาวิดรับภรรยาเพิ่มในเยรูซาเล็ม และมีบุตรชายหญิงเพิ่มขึ้น
3And David took more wives at Jerusalem; and David begot more sons and daughters.
4บุตรที่เกิดแก่เขาในเยรูซาเล็มมีชื่อดังนี้ ชัมมูอา โชบับ นาธาน โซโลมอน
4And these are the names of the children whom he had in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon;
5อิบฮาร์ เอลีชูอา เอลเปเลท
5and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpelet;
6โนกาห์ เนเฟก ยาเฟีย
6and Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia;
7เอลีชามา เบเอลียาดา และเอลีเฟเลท
7and Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphelet.
8เมื่อชาวฟีลิสเตียได้ข่าวเรื่องการเจิมดาวิดเป็นกษัตริย์เหนืออิสราเอลทั้งหมด พวกเขาก็ยกทัพออกตามหาดาวิด ดาวิดรู้ข่าวจึงออกไปรับศึก
8And when the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went out to meet them.

9Now the Philistines had come and made a raid in the valley of Rephaim.
10ดาวิดทูลถามพระเจ้าว่า “ข้าควรยกทัพไปสู้ชาวฟีลิสเตียหรือไม่ พระองค์จะทรงให้ข้าชนะพวกเขาหรือ” พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสกับเขาว่า “จงยกไป เราจะให้เจ้าชนะพวกเขา”
10And David inquired of God, saying: 'Shall I go up against the Philistines? and wilt Thou deliver them into my hand?' And the LORD said unto him: 'Go up; for I will deliver them into thy hand.'
11ดาวิดกับพวกขึ้นไปยังบาอัลเปราซิมและเอาชนะชาวฟีลิสเตียที่นั่น ดาวิดกล่าวว่า “พระเจ้าทรงให้ข้าตีข้าศึกจนแตกกระจาย เหมือนน้ำที่ทะลักออกมา” คนจึงเรียกที่นั่นว่าบาอัลเปราซิม
11So they came up to Baal-perazim, and David smote them there; and David said: 'God hath broken mine enemies by my hand, like the breach of waters.' Therefore they called the name of that place Baal-perazim.
12ชาวฟีลิสเตียทิ้งบรรดาพระของตนไว้ที่นั่น ดาวิดสั่งให้เผาพระเหล่านั้น
12And they left their gods there; and David gave commandment, and they were burned with fire.
13ชาวฟีลิสเตียกลับมาบุกปล้นในหุบเขาอีกครั้ง
13And the Philistines yet again made a raid in the valley.
14ดาวิดทูลถามพระเจ้าอีก พระองค์ตรัสว่า “อย่ายกทัพตามหลังพวกเขา จงอ้อมไปและเข้าตีจากด้านตรงข้ามต้นหม่อน
14And David inquired again of God; and God said unto him: 'Thou shalt not go up after them; turn away from them, and come upon them over against the mulberry-trees.
15เมื่อเจ้าได้ยินเสียงเหมือนกองทัพเดินอยู่บนยอดต้นหม่อน จงออกไปรบ เพราะพระเจ้าทรงออกไปก่อนหน้าเจ้าเพื่อโจมตีกองทัพฟีลิสเตีย”
15And it shall be, when thou hearest the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry-trees, that then thou shalt go out to battle; for God is gone out before thee to smite the host of the Philistines.'
16ดาวิดทำตามที่พระเจ้าทรงบัญชา เขากับพวกโจมตีกองทัพฟีลิสเตียตั้งแต่กิเบโอนไปจนถึงเกเซอร์
16And David did as God commanded him; and they smote the host of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gezer.
17ชื่อเสียงของดาวิดแพร่ไปทั่วทุกดินแดน และพระยาห์เวห์ทรงทำให้ทุกชนชาติเกรงกลัวเขา
17And the fame of David went out into all lands; and the LORD brought the fear of him upon all nations.
