1ดาวิดจึงกล่าวว่า “ที่นี่คือพระวิหารของพระยาห์เวห์องค์พระเจ้า และที่นี่คือแท่นเครื่องบูชาเผาทั้งตัวสำหรับอิสราเอล”
1Then David said: 'This is the house of the LORD God, and this is the altar of burnt-offering for Israel.'
2ดาวิดสั่งให้รวบรวมชาวต่างชาติที่อยู่ในแผ่นดินอิสราเอล แล้วตั้งช่างสกัดหินให้ตัดแต่งก้อนหินสำหรับสร้างพระวิหารของพระเจ้า
2And David commanded to gather together the strangers that were in the land of Israel; and he set masons to hew wrought stones to build the house of God.
3เขาจัดเตรียมเหล็กจำนวนมากไว้ทำตะปูสำหรับบานประตูใหญ่และชิ้นส่วนยึดต่าง ๆ เตรียมทองสัมฤทธิ์ไว้มากจนชั่งน้ำหนักไม่ไหว
3And David prepared iron in abundance for the nails for the doors of the gates, and for the couplings; and brass in abundance without weight;
4และเตรียมไม้ซีดาร์นับไม่ถ้วน เพราะชาวไซดอนกับชาวไทระนำไม้ซีดาร์จำนวนมากมาให้ดาวิด
4and cedar-trees without number; for the Zidonians and they of Tyre brought cedar-trees in abundance to David.
5ดาวิดกล่าวว่า “โซโลมอนลูกชายของข้ายังอายุน้อยและไม่มีประสบการณ์ ส่วนพระวิหารที่จะสร้างถวายพระยาห์เวห์ต้องงดงามยิ่งใหญ่จนมีชื่อเสียงและเป็นที่ยกย่องไปทั่วทุกแผ่นดิน ข้าจะเตรียมการไว้ให้เขา” ดาวิดจึงเตรียมสิ่งของไว้มากมายก่อนสิ้นชีวิต
5And David said: 'Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be builded for the LORD must be exceeding magnificent, of fame and of glory throughout all countries; I will therefore make preparation for him.' So David prepared abundantly before his death.
6แล้วดาวิดเรียกโซโลมอนบุตรชายมา กำชับให้สร้างพระวิหารถวายพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอล
6Then He called for Solomon his son, and charged him to build a house for the LORD, the God of Israel.
7ดาวิดกล่าวกับโซโลมอนว่า “ลูกเอ๋ย พ่อเคยตั้งใจจะสร้างพระวิหารเพื่อพระนามของพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของพ่อ
7And David said to Solomon: 'My son, as for me, it was in my heart to build a house unto the name of the LORD my God.
8แต่พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสกับพ่อว่า ‘เจ้าทำให้โลหิตไหลนองและก่อสงครามใหญ่หลายครั้ง เจ้าไม่ได้เป็นผู้สร้างพระวิหารเพื่อพระนามของเรา เพราะเจ้าทำให้โลหิตไหลนองมากมายบนแผ่นดินต่อหน้าเรา
8But the word of the LORD came to me, saying: Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars; thou shalt not build a house unto My name, because thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in My sight.
9ต่อไปเจ้าจะมีลูกชายคนหนึ่ง เขาจะเป็นคนรักสงบ เราจะให้เขาพ้นจากศัตรูรอบด้าน ชื่อของเขาคือโซโลมอน และในสมัยของเขาเราจะให้อิสราเอลอยู่อย่างสงบสุข
9Behold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about; for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days.
10เขาจะสร้างพระวิหารเพื่อพระนามของเรา เขาจะเป็นลูกของเรา และเราจะเป็นพ่อของเขา เราจะตั้งบัลลังก์แห่งอาณาจักรของเขาเหนืออิสราเอลให้มั่นคงตลอดไป’
10He shall build a house for My name; and he shall be to Me for a son, and I will be to him for a father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever.
11บัดนี้ลูกเอ๋ย ขอพระยาห์เวห์อยู่กับลูกและให้ลูกทำสำเร็จ ขอให้ลูกสร้างพระวิหารถวายพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของลูก ตามที่พระองค์ตรัสไว้เกี่ยวกับลูก
11Now, my son, the LORD be with thee; and prosper thou, and build the house of the LORD thy God, as He hath spoken concerning thee.
12ขอพระยาห์เวห์ประทานวิจารณญาณและความเข้าใจแก่ลูก ให้ลูกปกครองอิสราเอลและรักษาพระบัญญัติของพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของลูก
12Only the LORD give thee discretion and understanding, and give thee charge concerning Israel; that so thou mayest keep the law of the LORD thy God.
13ถ้าลูกปฏิบัติตามข้อกำหนดและกฎเกณฑ์ที่พระยาห์เวห์ประทานแก่โมเสสสำหรับอิสราเอล ลูกจะทำสำเร็จ จงเข้มแข็งและกล้าหาญ อย่ากลัวหรือท้อใจ
13Then shalt thou prosper, if thou observe to do the statutes and the ordinances which the LORD charged Moses with concerning Israel; be strong, and of good courage; fear not, neither be dismayed.
14ท่ามกลางความยากลำบาก พ่อเตรียมทองคำไว้สำหรับพระวิหารของพระยาห์เวห์ 100,000 ตะลันต์ เงิน 1,000,000 ตะลันต์ ส่วนทองสัมฤทธิ์และเหล็กมีมากจนชั่งน้ำหนักไม่ไหว พ่อเตรียมไม้กับหินไว้ด้วย ลูกหาเพิ่มได้อีก
14Now, behold, in my straits I have prepared for the house of the LORD a hundred thousand talents of gold, and a thousand thousand talents of silver; and of brass and iron without weight, for it is in abundance; timber also and stone have I prepared; and thou mayest add thereto.
15ลูกมีช่างมากมาย ทั้งช่างสกัดหิน ช่างก่อหิน ช่างไม้ และช่างฝีมือทุกประเภท
15Moreover there are workmen with thee in abundance, hewers and workers of stone and timber, and all men that are skilful in any manner of work;
16ทองคำ เงิน ทองสัมฤทธิ์ และเหล็กก็มีมากจนนับไม่ถ้วน จงลงมือทำเถิด และขอพระยาห์เวห์อยู่กับลูก”
16of the gold, the silver, and the brass, and the iron, there is no number. Arise and be doing, and the LORD be with thee.'
17ดาวิดยังสั่งผู้นำทั้งหมดของอิสราเอลให้ช่วยโซโลมอนบุตรชาย โดยกล่าวว่า
17David also commanded all the princes of Israel to help Solomon his son:
18“พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของพวกท่านทรงอยู่กับพวกท่านและให้พวกท่านสงบจากศัตรูรอบด้านไม่ใช่หรือ? พระองค์ทรงมอบชาวแผ่นดินนี้ให้เราปราบแล้ว แผ่นดินจึงอยู่ใต้อำนาจพระยาห์เวห์และประชาชนของพระองค์
18'Is not the LORD your God with you? and hath He not given you rest on every side? for He hath delivered the inhabitants of the land into my hand; and the land is subdued before the LORD, and before His people.
19บัดนี้จงตั้งใจหันมาหาพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของพวกท่านอย่างสุดหัวใจ จงลงมือสร้างสถานนมัสการของพระยาห์เวห์องค์พระเจ้า เพื่อจะนำหีบพันธสัญญาของพระยาห์เวห์และเครื่องใช้ศักดิ์สิทธิ์ของพระเจ้าไปไว้ในพระวิหารที่จะสร้างเพื่อพระนามของพระยาห์เวห์”
19Now set your heart and your soul to seek after the LORD your God; arise therefore, and build ye the sanctuary of the LORD God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is to be built to the name of the LORD.'
