1I am the man that hath seen affliction by the rod of his wrath.
1من آن مرد هستم که از عصای غضب وی مذلت دیده‌ام.
2He hath led me, and brought me into darkness, but not into light.
2او مرا رهبری نموده، به تاریکی در‌آورده است و نه به روشنایی.
3Surely against me is he turned; he turneth his hand against me all the day.
3به درستی که دست خویش را تمامی روز به ضد من بارها برگردانیده است.
4My flesh and my skin hath he made old; he hath broken my bones.
4گوشت و پوست مرا مندرس ساخته واستخوانهایم را خرد کرده است.
5He hath builded against me, and compassed me with gall and travail.
5به ضد من بنا نموده، مرا به تلخی و مشقت احاطه کرده است.
6He hath set me in dark places, as they that be dead of old.
6مرا مثل آنانی که از قدیم مرده‌اند در تاریکی نشانیده است.
7He hath hedged me about, that I cannot get out: he hath made my chain heavy.
7گرد من حصار کشیده که نتوانم بیرون آمد وزنجیر مرا سنگین ساخته است.
8Also when I cry and shout, he shutteth out my prayer.
8و نیز چون فریاد و استغاثه می‌نمایم دعای مرا منع می‌کند.
9He hath inclosed my ways with hewn stone, he hath made my paths crooked.
9راههای مرا با سنگهای تراشیده سد کرده است و طریقهایم را کج نموده است.
10He was unto me as a bear lying in wait, and as a lion in secret places.
10او برای من خرسی است در کمین نشسته وشیری که در بیشه خود می‌باشد.
11He hath turned aside my ways, and pulled me in pieces: he hath made me desolate.
11راه مرا منحرف ساخته، مرا دریده است ومرا مبهوت گردانیده است.
12He hath bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.
12کمان خود را زه کرده، مرا برای تیرهای خویش، هدف ساخته است.
13He hath caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my reins.
13و تیرهای ترکش خود را به گرده های من فرو برده است.
14I was a derision to all my people; and their song all the day.
14من به جهت تمامی قوم خود مضحکه وتمامی روز سرود ایشان شده‌ام.
15He hath filled me with bitterness, he hath made me drunken with wormwood.
15مرا به تلخیها سیر کرده و مرا به افسنتین مست گردانیده است.
16He hath also broken my teeth with gravel stones, he hath covered me with ashes.
16دندانهایم را به سنگ ریزها شکسته و مرا به خاکستر پوشانیده است.
17And thou hast removed my soul far off from peace: I forgat prosperity.
17تو جان مرا از سلامتی دور انداختی و من سعادتمندی را فراموش کردم،
18And I said, My strength and my hope is perished from the LORD :
18و گفتم که قوت و امید من از یهوه تلف شده است.
19Remembering mine affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall.
19مذلت و شقاوت مرا افسنتین و تلخی به یادآور.
20My soul hath them still in remembrance, and is humbled in me.
20تو البته به یاد خواهی آورد زیرا که جان من در من منحنی شده است.
21This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.
21و من آن را در دل خود خواهم گذرانید و ازاین سبب امیدوار خواهم بود.
22¶ It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
22از رافت های خداوند است که تلف نشدیم زیرا که رحمت های او بی‌زوال است.
23They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
23آنها هر صبح تازه می‌شود و امانت تو بسیاراست.
24The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.
24و جان من می‌گوید که خداوند نصیب من است، بنابراین بر او امیدوارم.
25The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.
25خداوند به جهت کسانی که بر او توکل دارند و برای آنانی که او را می‌طلبند نیکو است.
26It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD .
26خوب است که انسان امیدوار باشد و باسکوت انتظار نجات خداوند را بکشد.
27It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.
27برای انسان نیکو است که یوغ را در جوانی خود بردارد.
28He sitteth alone and keepeth silence, because he hath borne it upon him.
28به تنهایی بنشیند و ساکت باشد زیرا که اوآن را بر وی نهاده است.
29He putteth his mouth in the dust; if so be there may be hope.
29دهان خود را بر خاک بگذارد که شاید امیدباشد.
30He giveth his cheek to him that smiteth him: he is filled full with reproach.
30رخسار خود را به زنندگان بسپارد و ازخجالت سیر شود.
31For the Lord will not cast off for ever:
31زیرا خداوند تا به ابد او را ترک نخواهدنمود.
32But though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies.
32زیرا اگر‌چه کسی را محزون سازد لیکن برحسب کثرت رافت خود رحمت خواهد فرمود.
33For he doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.
33چونکه بنی آدم را از دل خود نمی رنجاند ومحزون نمی سازد.
34To crush under his feet all the prisoners of the earth,
34تمامی اسیران زمین را زیر پا پایمال کردن،
35To turn aside the right of a man before the face of the most High,
35و منحرف ساختن حق انسان به حضورحضرت اعلی،
36To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord approveth not.
36و منقلب نمودن آدمی در دعویش منظورخداوند نیست.
37¶ Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?
37کیست که بگوید و واقع شود اگر خداوندامر نفرموده باشد.
38Out of the mouth of the most High proceedeth not evil and good?
38آیا از فرمان حضرت اعلی هم بدی و هم نیکویی صادر نمی شود؟
39Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?
39پس چرا انسان تا زنده است و آدمی به‌سبب سزای گناهان خویش شکایت کند؟
40Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the LORD .
40راههای خود را تجسس و تفحص بنماییم و بسوی خداوند بازگشت کنیم.
41Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens.
41دلها و دستهای خویش را بسوی خدایی که در آسمان است برافرازیم،
42We have transgressed and have rebelled: thou hast not pardoned.
42(و بگوییم ): «ما گناه کردیم و عصیان ورزیدیم و تو عفو نفرمودی.
43Thou hast covered with anger, and persecuted us: thou hast slain, thou hast not pitied.
43خویشتن را به غضب پوشانیده، ما را تعاقب نمودی و به قتل رسانیده، شفقت نفرمودی.
44Thou hast covered thyself with a cloud, that our prayer should not pass through.
44خویشتن را به ابر غلیظ مستور ساختی، تادعای ما نگذرد.
45Thou hast made us as the offscouring and refuse in the midst of the people.
45ما را در میان امت‌ها فضله و خاکروبه گردانیده‌ای.»
46All our enemies have opened their mouths against us.
46تمامی دشمنان ما بر ما دهان خود رامی گشایند.
47Fear and a snare is come upon us, desolation and destruction.
47خوف و دام و هلاکت و خرابی بر ما عارض گردیده است.
48Mine eye runneth down with rivers of water for the destruction of the daughter of my people.
48به‌سبب هلاکت دختر قوم من، نهرهای آب از چشمانم می‌ریزد.
49Mine eye trickleth down, and ceaseth not, without any intermission,
49چشم من بلا انقطاع جاری است و بازنمی ایستد.
50Till the LORD look down, and behold from heaven.
50تا خداوند از آسمان ملاحظه نماید و ببیند.
51Mine eye affecteth mine heart because of all the daughters of my city.
51چشمانم به جهت جمیع دختران شهرم، جان مرا می‌رنجاند.
52Mine enemies chased me sore, like a bird, without cause.
52آنانی که بی‌سبب دشمن منند مرا مثل مرغ بشدت تعاقب می‌نمایند.
53They have cut off my life in the dungeon, and cast a stone upon me.
53جان مرا در سیاه چال منقطع ساختند وسنگها بر من‌انداختند.
54Waters flowed over mine head; then I said, I am cut off.
54آبها از سر من گذشت پس گفتم: منقطع شدم.
55¶ I called upon thy name, O LORD , out of the low dungeon.
55آنگاه‌ای خداوند، از عمق های سیاه چال اسم تو را خواندم.
56Thou hast heard my voice: hide not thine ear at my breathing, at my cry.
56آواز مرا شنیدی، پس گوش خود را از آه واستغاثه من مپوشان!
57Thou drewest near in the day that I called upon thee: thou saidst, Fear not.
57در روزی که تو را خواندم نزدیک شده، فرمودی که نترس.
58O Lord, thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul; thou hast redeemed my life.
58ای خداوند دعوی جان مرا انجام داده و حیات مرا فدیه نموده‌ای!
59O LORD , thou hast seen my wrong: judge thou my cause.
59ای خداوند ظلمی را که به من نموده انددیده‌ای پس مرا دادرسی فرما!
60Thou hast seen all their vengeance and all their imaginations against me.
60تمامی کینه ایشان و همه تدبیرهایی را که به ضد من کردند دیده‌ای.
61Thou hast heard their reproach, O LORD , and all their imaginations against me;
61ای خداوند مذمت ایشان را و همه تدبیرهایی را که به ضد من کردند شنیده‌ای!
62The lips of those that rose up against me, and their device against me all the day.
62سخنان مقاومت کنندگانم را و فکرهایی راکه تمامی روز به ضد من دارند (دانسته‌ای ).
63Behold their sitting down, and their rising up; I am their musick.
63نشستن و برخاستن ایشان را ملاحظه فرمازیرا که من سرود ایشان شده‌ام.
64¶ Render unto them a recompence, O LORD , according to the work of their hands.
64ای خداوند موافق اعمال دستهای ایشان مکافات به ایشان برسان.
65Give them sorrow of heart, thy curse unto them.
65غشاوه قلب به ایشان بده و لعنت تو برایشان باد!
66Persecute and destroy them in anger from under the heavens of the LORD .
66ایشان را به غضب تعاقب نموده، از زیرآسمانهای خداوند هلاک کن.
