1Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
1แม้ข้าพเจ้าจะพูดภาษาของมนุษย์และของทูตสวรรค์ได้ แต่ถ้าไม่มีความรัก ข้าพเจ้าก็เป็นเหมือนทองเหลืองที่ดังก้อง หรือฉาบที่ดังลั่น
2And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
2แม้ข้าพเจ้ามีของประทานแห่งการเผยพระวจนะ รู้ความลับทุกอย่างและมีความรู้ทั้งหมด และแม้ข้าพเจ้ามีความเชื่อครบถ้วนจนย้ายภูเขาได้ แต่ถ้าไม่มีความรัก ข้าพเจ้าก็ไม่มีค่าอะไร
3And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor , and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
3แม้ข้าพเจ้าแจกจ่ายทรัพย์สินทั้งหมดของตนเพื่อเลี้ยงคนจน และแม้ยอมมอบร่างกายของตนให้ถูกเผา แต่ถ้าไม่มีความรัก ข้าพเจ้าก็ไม่ได้ประโยชน์อะไร
4Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
4ความรักอดทนและมีเมตตา ความรักไม่ริษยา ไม่โอ้อวด และไม่หยิ่งผยอง
5Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
5ไม่ประพฤติไม่เหมาะสม ไม่แสวงหาประโยชน์ของตนเอง ไม่ฉุนเฉียว และไม่จดจำความผิด
6Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
6ไม่ยินดีกับความไม่ชอบธรรม แต่ยินดีร่วมกับความจริง
7Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
7ความรักทนรับทุกสิ่ง เชื่อทุกสิ่ง หวังทุกสิ่ง และอดทนทุกสิ่ง
8Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
8ความรักไม่มีวันสิ้นสุด แต่คำเผยพระวจนะจะหมดไป ภาษาแบบต่าง ๆ จะหยุด และความรู้จะหมดไป
9For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
9เพราะเรารู้เพียงบางส่วน และเผยพระวจนะเพียงบางส่วน
10But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
10แต่เมื่อสิ่งที่สมบูรณ์มาถึง สิ่งที่เป็นเพียงบางส่วนก็จะหมดไป
11When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
11เมื่อข้าพเจ้ายังเป็นเด็ก ข้าพเจ้าพูดอย่างเด็ก รู้สึกอย่างเด็ก และคิดอย่างเด็ก แต่เมื่อเป็นผู้ใหญ่ ข้าพเจ้าก็ละสิ่งแบบเด็ก ๆ ไว้เบื้องหลัง
12For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
12ตอนนี้เรามองเห็นเหมือนมองในกระจกอย่างมัว ๆ แต่เมื่อถึงเวลานั้น เราจะได้เห็นตรงหน้าอย่างชัดเจน ตอนนี้ข้าพเจ้ารู้เพียงบางส่วน แต่เมื่อถึงเวลานั้น ข้าพเจ้าจะรู้อย่างเต็มที่ เช่นเดียวกับที่ข้าพเจ้าเป็นที่รู้จักอย่างเต็มที่แล้ว
13And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
13ตอนนี้ยังมีสามสิ่งที่คงอยู่ คือความเชื่อ ความหวัง และความรัก แต่สิ่งที่ยิ่งใหญ่ที่สุดในสามสิ่งนี้คือความรัก
