1Then Job answered, and said:
1約伯 回答說：
2I have often heard such things as these: you are all troublesome comforters.
2這樣的話我聽了許多； 你們安慰人，反叫人愁煩。
3Shall windy words have no end? or is it any trouble to thee to speak?
3虛空的言語有窮盡嗎？ 有甚麼話惹動你回答呢？
4I also could speak like you: and would God your soul were for my soul.
4我也能說你們那樣的話； 你們若處在我的境遇， 我也會聯絡言語攻擊你們， 又能向你們搖頭。
5I would comfort you also with words, and would wag my head over you.
5但我必用口堅固你們， 用嘴消解 你們的憂愁 。
6I would strengthen you with my mouth, and would move my lips, as sparing you.
6我雖說話，憂愁仍不得消解； 我雖停住不說，憂愁就離開我嗎？
7But what shall I do? If I speak, my pain will not rest: and if I hold my peace, it will not depart from me.
7但現在上帝使我困倦， 使親友遠離我，
8But now my sorrow hath oppressed me, and all my limbs are brought to nothing.
8又抓住我，作見證 攻擊我 ； 我身體的枯瘦也當面見證我的不是。
9My wrinkles bear witness against me, and a false speaker riseth up against my face, contradicting me.
9主發怒撕裂我，逼迫我， 向我切齒； 我的敵人怒目看我。
10He hath gathered together his fury against me, and threatening me he hath gnashed with his teeth upon me: my enemy hath beheld me with terrible eyes.
10他們向我開口， 打我的臉羞辱我， 聚會攻擊我。
11They have opened their mouths upon me, and reproaching me they have struck me on the cheek, they are filled with my pains.
11上帝把我交給不敬虔的人， 把我扔到惡人的手中。
12God hath shut me up with the unjust man, and hath delivered me into the hands of the wicked.
12我素來安逸，他折斷我， 掐住我的頸項，把我摔碎， 又立我為他的箭靶子。
13I that was formerly so wealthy, am all on a sudden broken to pieces: he hath taken me by my neck, he hath broken me, and hath set me up to be his mark.
13他的弓箭手四面圍繞我； 他破裂我的肺腑，並不留情， 把我的膽傾倒在地上，
14He hath compassed me round about with his lances, he hath wounded my loins, he hath not spared, and hath poured out my bowels on the earth.
14將我破裂又破裂， 如同勇士向我直闖。
15He hath torn me with wound upon wound, he hath rushed in upon me like a giant.
15我縫麻布在我皮膚上， 把我的角放在塵土中。
16I have sowed sackcloth upon my skin, and have covered my flesh with ashes.
16我的臉因哭泣發紫， 在我的眼皮上有死蔭。
17My face is swollen with weeping, and my eyelids are dim.
17我的手中卻無強暴； 我的祈禱也是清潔。
18These things have I suffered without the iniquity of my hand, when I offered pure prayers to God.
18地啊，不要遮蓋我的血！ 不要 阻擋 我的哀求！
19O earth, cover not thou my blood, neither let my cry find a hiding place in thee.
19現今，在天有我的見證， 在上有我的中保。
20For behold my witness is in heaven, and he that knoweth my conscience is on high.
20我的朋友譏誚我， 我卻向上帝眼淚汪汪。
21My friends are full of words: my eye poureth out tears to God.
21願人得與上帝辯白， 如同人與朋友辯白一樣；
22And O that a man might so be judged with God, as the son of man is judged with his companion!
22因為再過幾年， 我必走那往而不返之路。
23For behold short years pass away and I am walking in a path by which I shall not return.
