1After these things Jesus walked in Galilee; for he would not walk in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill him.
1這事以後，耶穌在 加利利 遊行，不願在 猶太 遊行，因為 猶太 人想要殺他。
2Now the Jews’ feast of tabernacles was at hand.
2當時 猶太 人的住棚節近了。
3And his brethren said to him: Pass from hence, and go into Judea; that thy disciples also may see thy works which thou dost.
3耶穌的弟兄就對他說：「你離開這裏上 猶太 去吧，叫你的門徒也看見你所行的事。
4For there is no man that doth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou do these things, manifest thyself to the world.
4人要顯揚名聲，沒有在暗處行事的；你如果行這些事，就當將自己顯明給世人看。」
5For neither did his brethren believe in him.
5因為連他的弟兄 說這話 ，是因為不信他。
6Then Jesus said to them: My time is not yet come; but your time is always ready.
6耶穌就對他們說：「我的時候還沒有到；你們的時候常是方便的。
7The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth: because I give testimony of it, that the works thereof are evil.
7世人不能恨你們，卻是恨我，因為我指證他們所做的事是惡的。
8Go you up to this festival day, but I go not up to this festival day: because my time is not accomplished.
8你們上去過節吧，我現在不上去過這節，因為我的時候還沒有滿。」
9When he had said these things, he himself stayed in Galilee.
9耶穌說了這話，仍舊住在 加利利 。
10But after his brethren were gone up, then he also went up to the feast, not openly, but, as it were, in secret.
10但他弟兄上去以後，他也上去過節，不是明去，似乎是暗去的。
11The Jews therefore sought him on the festival day, and said: Where is he?
11正在節期， 猶太 人尋找耶穌，說：「他在哪裏？」
12And there was much murmuring among the multitude concerning him. For some said: He is a good man. And others said: No, but he seduceth the people.
12眾人為他紛紛議論，有的說：「他是好人。」有的說：「不然，他是迷惑眾人的。」
13Yet no man spoke openly of him, for fear of the Jews.
13只是沒有人明明地講論他，因為怕 猶太 人。
14Now about the midst of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple, and taught.
14到了節期，耶穌上殿裏去教訓人。
15And the Jews wondered, saying: How doth this man know letters, having never learned?
15猶太 人就希奇，說：「這個人沒有學過，怎麼明白書呢？」
16Jesus answered them, and said: My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
16耶穌說：「我的教訓不是我自己的，乃是那差我來者的。
17If any man do the will of him; he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.
17人若立志遵着他的旨意行，就必曉得這教訓或是出於上帝，或是我憑着自己說的。
18He that speaketh of himself, seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh the glory of him that sent him, he is true, and there is no injustice in him.
18人憑着自己說，是求自己的榮耀；惟有求那差他來者的榮耀，這人是真的，在他心裏沒有不義。
19Did Moses not give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law?
19摩西 豈不是傳律法給你們嗎？你們卻沒有一個人守律法。為甚麼想要殺我呢？」
20Why seek you to kill me? The multitude answered, and said: Thou hast a devil; who seeketh to kill thee?
20眾人回答說：「你是被鬼附着了！誰想要殺你？」
21Jesus answered, and said to them: One work I have done; and you all wonder:
21耶穌說：「我做了一件事，你們都以為希奇。
22Therefore, Moses gave you circumcision (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers;) and on the sabbath day you circumcise a man.
22摩西 傳割禮給你們（其實不是從 摩西 起的，乃是從祖先起的），因此你們也在安息日給人行割禮。
23If a man receive circumcision on the sabbath day, that the law of Moses may not be broken; are you angry at me because I have healed the whole man on the sabbath day?
23人若在安息日受割禮，免得違背 摩西 的律法，我在安息日叫一個人全然好了，你們就向我生氣嗎？
24Judge not according to the appearance, but judge just judgment.
24不可按外貌斷定是非，總要按公平斷定是非。」
25Some therefore of Jerusalem said: Is not this he whom they seek to kill?
25耶路撒冷 人中有的說：「這不是他們想要殺的人嗎？
26And behold, he speaketh openly, and they say nothing to him. Have the rulers known for a truth, that this is the Christ?
26你看他還明明地講道，他們也不向他說甚麼，難道官長真知道這是基督嗎？
27But we know this man, whence he is: but when the Christ cometh, no man knoweth whence he is.
27然而，我們知道這個人從哪裏來；只是基督來的時候，沒有人知道他從哪裏來。」
28Jesus therefore cried out in the temple, teaching, and saying: You both know me, and you know whence I am: and I am not come of myself; but he that sent me, is true, whom you know not.
28那時，耶穌在殿裏教訓人，大聲說：「你們也知道我，也知道我從哪裏來；我來並不是由於自己。但那差我來的是真的。你們不認識他，
29I know him, because I am from him, and he hath sent me.
29我卻認識他；因為我是從他來的，他也是差了我來。」
30They sought therefore to apprehend him: and no man laid hands on him, because his hour was not yet come.
30他們就想要捉拿耶穌；只是沒有人下手，因為他的時候還沒有到。
31But of the people many believed in him, and said: When the Christ cometh, shall he do more miracles, than these which this man doth?
31但眾人中間有好些信他的，說：「基督來的時候，他所行的神蹟豈能比這人所行的更多嗎？」
32The Pharisees heard the people murmuring these things concerning him: and the rulers and Pharisees sent ministers to apprehend him.
32法利賽人聽見眾人為耶穌這樣紛紛議論，祭司長和法利賽人就打發差役去捉拿他。
33Jesus therefore said to them: Yet a little while I am with you: and then I go to him that sent me.
33於是耶穌說：「我還有不多的時候和你們同在，以後就回到差我來的那裏去。
34You shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither you cannot come.
34你們要找我，卻找不着；我所在的地方你們不能到。」
35The Jews therefore said among themselves: Whither will he go, that we shall not find him? will he go unto the dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles?
35猶太 人就彼此對問說：「這人要往哪裏去，叫我們找不着呢？難道他要往散住 希臘 中的 猶太 人那裏去教訓 希臘 人嗎？
36What is this saying that he hath said: You shall seek me, and shall not find me; and where I am, you cannot come?
36他說：『你們要找我，卻找不着；我所在的地方，你們不能到』，這話是甚麼意思呢？」
37And on the last, and great day of the festivity, Jesus stood and cried, saying: If any man thirst, let him come to me, and drink.
37節期的末日，就是最大之日，耶穌站着高聲說：「人若渴了，可以到我這裏來喝。
38He that believeth in me, as the scripture saith, Out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
38信我的人就如經上所說：『從他腹中要流出活水的江河來。』」
39Now this he said of the Spirit which they should receive, who believed in him: for as yet the Spirit was not given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
39耶穌這話是指着信他之人要受 聖 靈說的。那時還沒有 賜下聖 靈 來 ，因為耶穌尚未得着榮耀。
40Of that multitude therefore, when they had heard these words of his, some said: This is the prophet indeed.
40眾人聽見這話，有的說：「這真是那先知。」
41Others said: This is the Christ. But some said: Doth the Christ come out of Galilee?
41有的說：「這是基督。」但也有的說：「基督豈是從 加利利 出來的嗎？
42Doth not the scripture say: That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and from Bethlehem the town where David was?
42經上豈不是說『基督是 大衛 的後裔，從 大衛 本鄉 伯利恆 出來的』嗎？」
43So there arose a dissension among the people because of him.
43於是眾人因着耶穌起了紛爭。
44And some of them would have apprehended him: but no man laid hands on him.
44其中有人要捉拿他，只是無人下手。
45The ministers therefore came to the chief priests and the Pharisees. And they said to them: Why have you not brought him?
45差役回到祭司長和法利賽人那裏。他們對差役說：「你們為甚麼沒有帶他來呢？」
46The ministers answered: Never did man speak like this man.
46差役回答說：「從來沒有像他這樣說話的！」
47The Pharisees therefore answered them: Are you also seduced?
47法利賽人說：「你們也受了迷惑嗎？
48Hath any one of the rulers believed in him, or of the Pharisees?
48官長或是法利賽人豈有信他的呢？
49But this multitude, that knoweth not the law, are accursed.
49但這些不明白律法的百姓是被咒詛的！」
50Nicodemus said to them, (he that came to him by night, who was one of them:)
50內中有 尼哥德慕 ，就是從前去見耶穌的，對他們說：
51Doth our law judge any man, unless it first hear him, and know what he doth?
51「不先聽本人的口供，不知道他所做的事，難道我們的律法還定他的罪嗎？」
52They answered, and said to him: Art thou also a Galilean? Search the scriptures, and see, that out of Galilee a prophet riseth not.
52他們回答說：「你也是出於 加利利 嗎？你且去查考，就可知道 加利利 沒有出過先知。」
53And every man returned to his own house.
