1And Jesus went unto mount Olivet.
1於是各人都回家去了；耶穌卻往 橄欖山 去，
2And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came to him, and sitting down he taught them.
2清早又回到殿裏。眾百姓都到他那裏去，他就坐下，教訓他們。
3And the scribes and the Pharisees bring unto him a woman taken in adultery: and they set her in the midst,
3文士和法利賽人帶着一個行淫時被拿的婦人來，叫她站在當中，
4And said to him: Master, this woman was even now taken in adultery.
4就對耶穌說：「夫子，這婦人是正行淫之時被拿的。
5Now Moses in the law commanded us to stone such a one. But what sayest thou?
5摩西 在律法上吩咐我們把這樣的婦人用石頭打死。你說該把她怎麼樣呢？」
6And this they said tempting him, that they might accuse him. But Jesus bowing himself down, wrote with his finger on the ground.
6他們說這話，乃試探耶穌，要得着告他的把柄。耶穌卻彎着腰，用指頭在地上畫字。
7When therefore they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said to them: He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
7他們還是不住地問他，耶穌就直起腰來，對他們說：「你們中間誰是沒有罪的，誰就可以先拿石頭打她。」
8And again stooping down, he wrote on the ground.
8於是又彎着腰，用指頭在地上畫字。
9But they hearing this, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest. And Jesus alone remained, and the woman standing in the midst.
9他們聽見這話，就從老到少，一個一個地都出去了，只剩下耶穌一人，還有那婦人仍然站在當中。
10Then Jesus lifting up himself, said to her: Woman, where are they that accused thee? Hath no man condemned thee?
10耶穌就直起腰來，對她說：「婦人，那些人在哪裏呢？沒有人定你的罪嗎？」
11Who said: No man, Lord. And Jesus said: Neither will I condemn thee. Go, and now sin no more.
11她說：「主啊，沒有。」耶穌說：「我也不定你的罪。去吧，從此不要再犯罪了！」
12Again therefore, Jesus spoke to them, saying: I am the light of the world: he that followeth me, walketh not in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
12耶穌又對眾人說：「我是世界的光。跟從我的，就不在黑暗裏走，必要得着生命的光。」
13The Pharisees therefore said to him: Thou givest testimony of thyself: thy testimony is not true.
13法利賽人對他說：「你是為自己作見證，你的見證不真。」
14Jesus answered, and said to them: Although I give testimony of myself, my testimony is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go: but you know not whence I come, or whither I go.
14耶穌說：「我雖然為自己作見證，我的見證還是真的；因我知道我從哪裏來，往哪裏去；你們卻不知道我從哪裏來，往哪裏去。
15You judge according to the flesh: I judge not any man.
15你們是以外貌判斷人，我卻不判斷人。
16And if I do judge, my judgment is true: because I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.
16就是判斷人，我的判斷也是真的；因為不是我獨自在這裏，還有差我來的父與我同在。
17And in your law it is written, that the testimony of two men is true.
17你們的律法上也記着說：『兩個人的見證是真的。』
18I am one that give testimony of myself: and the Father that sent me giveth testimony of me.
18我是為自己作見證，還有差我來的父也是為我作見證。」
19They said therefore to him: Where is thy Father? Jesus answered: Neither me do you know, nor my Father: if you did know me, perhaps you would know my Father also.
19他們就問他說：「你的父在哪裏？」耶穌回答說：「你們不認識我，也不認識我的父；若是認識我，也就認識我的父。」
20These words Jesus spoke in the treasury, teaching in the temple: and no man laid hands on him, because his hour was not yet come.
20這些話是耶穌在殿裏的庫房、教訓人時所說的，也沒有人拿他，因為他的時候還沒有到。
21Again therefore Jesus said to them: I go, and you shall seek me, and you shall die in your sin. Whither I go, you cannot come.
21耶穌又對他們說：「我要去了，你們要找我，並且你們要死在罪中。我所去的地方，你們不能到。」
22The Jews therefore said: Will he kill himself, because he said: Whither I go, you cannot come?
22猶太 人說：「他說『我所去的地方，你們不能到』，難道他要自盡嗎？」
23And he said to them: You are from beneath, I am from above. You are of this world, I am not of this world.
23耶穌對他們說：「你們是從下頭來的，我是從上頭來的；你們是屬這世界的，我不是屬這世界的。
24Therefore I said to you, that you shall die in your sins. For if you believe not that I am he, you shall die in your sin.
24所以我對你們說，你們要死在罪中。你們若不信我是 基督 ，必要死在罪中。」
25They said therefore to him: Who art thou? Jesus said to them: The beginning, who also speak unto you.
25他們就問他說：「你是誰？」耶穌對他們說：「就是我從起初所告訴你們的。
26Many things I have to speak and to judge of you. But he that sent me, is true: and the things I have heard of him, these same I speak in the world.
26我有許多事講論你們，判斷你們；但那差我來的是真的，我在他那裏所聽見的，我就傳給世人。」
27And they understood not, that he called God his Father.
27他們不明白耶穌是指着父說的。
28Jesus therefore said to them: When you shall have lifted up the Son of man, then shall you know, that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself, but as the Father hath taught me, these things I speak:
28所以耶穌說：「你們舉起人子以後，必知道我是 基督 ，並且知道我沒有一件事是憑着自己做的。我說這些話乃是照着父所教訓我的。
29And he that sent me, is with me, and he hath not left me alone: for I do always the things that please him.
29那差我來的是與我同在；他沒有撇下我獨自在這裏，因為我常做他所喜悅的事。」
30When he spoke these things, many believed in him.
30耶穌說這話的時候，就有許多人信他。
31Then Jesus said to those Jews, who believed him: If you continue in my word, you shall be my disciples indeed.
31耶穌對信他的 猶太 人說：「你們若常常遵守我的道，就真是我的門徒；
32And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
32你們必曉得真理，真理必叫你們得以自由。」
33They answered him: We are the seed of Abraham, and we have never been slaves to any man: how sayest thou: you shall be free?
33他們回答說：「我們是 亞伯拉罕 的後裔，從來沒有作過誰的奴僕。你怎麼說『你們必得以自由』呢？」
34Jesus answered them: Amen, amen I say unto you: that whosoever committeth sin, is the servant of sin.
34耶穌回答說：「我實實在在地告訴你們，所有犯罪的就是罪的奴僕。
35Now the servant abideth not in the house for ever; but the son abideth for ever.
35奴僕不能永遠住在家裏；兒子是永遠住在家裏。
36If therefore the son shall make you free, you shall be free indeed.
36所以 天父的 兒子若叫你們自由，你們就真自由了。
37I know that you are the children of Abraham: but you seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you.
37我知道你們是 亞伯拉罕 的子孫，你們卻想要殺我，因為你們心裏容不下我的道。
38I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and you do the things that you have seen with your father.
38我所說的是在我父那裏看見的；你們所行的是在你們的父那裏聽見的。」
39They answered, and said to him: Abraham is our father. Jesus saith to them: If you be the children of Abraham, do the works of Abraham.
39他們說：「我們的父就是 亞伯拉罕 。」耶穌說：「你們若是 亞伯拉罕 的兒子，就必行 亞伯拉罕 所行的事。
40But now you seek to kill me, a man who have spoken the truth to you, which I have heard of God. This Abraham did not.
40我將在上帝那裏所聽見的真理告訴了你們，現在你們卻想要殺我，這不是 亞伯拉罕 所行的事。
41You do the works of your father. They said therefore to him: We are not born of fornication: we have one Father, even God.
41你們是行你們父所行的事。」他們說：「我們不是從淫亂生的；我們只有一位父，就是上帝。」
42Jesus therefore said to them: If God were your Father, you would indeed love me. For from God I proceeded, and came; for I came not of myself, but he sent me:
42耶穌說：「倘若上帝是你們的父，你們就必愛我；因為我本是出於上帝，也是從上帝而來，並不是由着自己來，乃是他差我來。
43Why do you not know my speech? Because you cannot hear my word.
43你們為甚麼不明白我的話呢？無非是因你們不能聽我的道。
44You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and he stood not in the truth; because truth is not in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father thereof.
44你們是出於你們的父魔鬼，你們父的私慾你們偏要行。他從起初是殺人的，不守真理，因他心裏沒有真理。他說謊是出於自己；因他本來是說謊的，也是說謊之人的父。
45But if I say the truth, you believe me not.
45我將真理告訴你們，你們就因此不信我。
46Which of you shall convince me of sin? If I say the truth to you, why do you not believe me?
46你們中間誰能指證我有罪呢？我既然將真理告訴你們，為甚麼不信我呢？
47He that is of God, heareth the words of God. Therefore you hear them not, because you are not of God.
47出於上帝的，必聽上帝的話；你們不聽，因為你們不是出於上帝。」
48The Jews therefore answered, and said to him: Do not we say well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil?
48猶太 人回答說：「我們說你是 撒馬利亞 人，並且是鬼附着的，這話豈不正對嗎？」
49Jesus answered: I have not a devil: but I honour my Father, and you have dishonoured me.
49耶穌說：「我不是鬼附着的；我尊敬我的父，你們倒輕慢我。
50But I seek not my own glory: there is one that seeketh and judgeth.
50我不求自己的榮耀，有一位 為我 求 榮耀 、定是非的。
51Amen, amen I say to you: If any man keep my word, he shall not see death for ever.
51我實實在在地告訴你們，人若遵守我的道，就永遠不見死。」
52The Jews therefore said: Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest: If any man keep my word, he shall not taste death for ever.
52猶太 人對他說：「現在我們知道你是鬼附着的。 亞伯拉罕 死了，眾先知也死了，你還說：『人若遵守我的道，就永遠不嘗死味。』
53Art thou greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? and the prophets are dead. Whom dost thou make thyself?
53難道你比我們的祖宗 亞伯拉罕 還大嗎？他死了，眾先知也死了，你將自己當作甚麼人呢？」
54Jesus answered: If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father that glorifieth me, of whom you say that he is your God.
54耶穌回答說：「我若榮耀自己，我的榮耀就算不得甚麼；榮耀我的乃是我的父，就是你們所說是你們的上帝。
55And you have not known him, but I know him. And if I shall say that I know him not, I shall be like to you, a liar. But I do know him, and do keep his word.
55你們未曾認識他；我卻認識他。我若說不認識他，我就是說謊的，像你們一樣；但我認識他，也遵守他的道。
56Abraham your father rejoiced that he might see my day: he saw it, and was glad.
56你們的祖宗 亞伯拉罕 歡歡喜喜地仰望我的日子，既看見了就快樂。」
57The Jews therefore said to him: Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?
57猶太 人說：「你還沒有五十歲，豈見過 亞伯拉罕 呢？」
58Jesus said to them: Amen, amen I say to you, before Abraham was made, I am.
58耶穌說：「我實實在在地告訴你們，還沒有 亞伯拉罕 就有了我。」
59They took up stones therefore to cast at him. But Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple.
59於是他們拿石頭要打他；耶穌卻躲藏，從殿裏出去了。
