1พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสกับโมเสสว่า “ไปหาฟาโรห์ เพราะเราได้ทำให้ใจเขาและใจข้ารับใช้ของเขาแข็งกระด้าง เพื่อเราจะได้สำแดงหมายสำคัญเหล่านี้ของเราท่ามกลางพวกเขา
1And the LORD said unto Moses: 'Go in unto Pharaoh; for I have hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants, that I might show these My signs in the midst of them;
2และเพื่อเจ้าจะได้เล่าให้ลูกกับหลานฟังว่าเราได้ทำอะไรกับอียิปต์ และเล่าถึงหมายสำคัญที่เราทำท่ามกลางพวกเขา เพื่อพวกเจ้าจะได้รู้ว่าเราคือพระยาห์เวห์”
2and that thou mayest tell in the ears of thy son, and of thy son's son, what I have wrought upon Egypt, and My signs which I have done among them; that ye may know that I am the LORD.'
3โมเสสกับอาโรนจึงเข้าไปหาฟาโรห์และพูดว่า “พระยาห์เวห์ พระเจ้าของชาวฮีบรู ตรัสดังนี้ว่า ‘เจ้าจะไม่ยอมถ่อมตัวต่อหน้าเราไปอีกนานเท่าไร? ปล่อยประชาชนของเราไป เพื่อพวกเขาจะรับใช้เรา
3And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and said unto him: 'Thus saith the LORD, the God of the Hebrews: How long wilt thou refuse to humble thyself before Me? let My people go, that they may serve Me.
4ถ้าเจ้ายังไม่ยอมปล่อยประชาชนของเราไป พรุ่งนี้เราจะนำฝูงตั๊กแตนเข้ามาในดินแดนของเจ้า
4Else, if thou refuse to let My people go, behold, to-morrow will I bring locusts into thy border;
5มันจะปกคลุมพื้นแผ่นดินจนมองไม่เห็นพื้นดิน และจะกินสิ่งที่เหลือรอดจากลูกเห็บ รวมทั้งต้นไม้ทุกต้นที่งอกอยู่ในทุ่งของเจ้า
5and they shall cover the face of the earth, that one shall not be able to see the earth; and they shall eat the residue of that which is escaped, which remaineth unto you from the hail, and shall eat every tree which groweth for you out of the field;
6บ้านของเจ้า บ้านของข้ารับใช้ทั้งหมดของเจ้า และบ้านของชาวอียิปต์ทุกคนจะเต็มไปด้วยตั๊กแตน อย่างที่บรรพบุรุษของเจ้า ทั้งรุ่นพ่อและรุ่นก่อนหน้านั้น ไม่เคยเห็นมาตั้งแต่พวกเขาอยู่บนแผ่นดินจนถึงวันนี้’” แล้วโมเสสก็หันหลังออกจากฟาโรห์
6and thy houses shall be filled, and the houses of all thy servants, and the houses of all the Egyptians; as neither thy fathers nor thy fathers' fathers have seen, since the day that they were upon the earth unto this day.' And he turned, and went out from Pharaoh.
7ข้ารับใช้ของฟาโรห์พูดกับเขาว่า “ชายคนนี้จะเป็นบ่วงดักพวกเราไปถึงเมื่อไร? ปล่อยพวกผู้ชายไปเถอะ ให้พวกเขารับใช้พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของตน ท่านยังไม่รู้หรือว่าอียิปต์พินาศหมดแล้ว?”
7And Pharaoh's servants said unto him: 'How long shall this man be a snare unto us? let the men go, that they may serve the LORD their God, knowest thou not yet that Egypt is destroyed?'
8โมเสสกับอาโรนจึงถูกนำกลับมาหาฟาโรห์อีกครั้ง ฟาโรห์พูดกับพวกเขาว่า “ไปเถอะ ไปรับใช้พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของพวกเจ้า แต่ใครบ้างจะไป?”
8And Moses and Aaron were brought again unto Pharaoh; and he said unto them: 'Go, serve the LORD your God; but who are they that shall go?'
9โมเสสตอบว่า “เราจะไปทั้งคนหนุ่มคนแก่ ทั้งลูกชายลูกสาว รวมทั้งฝูงแพะแกะและฝูงวัวของเรา เพราะเราต้องฉลองเทศกาลแด่พระยาห์เวห์”
9And Moses said: 'We will go with our young and with our old, with our sons and with our daughters, with our flocks and with our herds we will go; for we must hold a feast unto the LORD.'
10ฟาโรห์พูดว่า “ขอให้พระยาห์เวห์อยู่กับพวกเจ้าเถอะ—ถ้าเราจะยอมปล่อยพวกเจ้าไปพร้อมกับเด็ก ๆ! ดูสิ ความชั่วร้ายอยู่ตรงหน้าพวกเจ้าอย่างเห็นได้ชัด
10And he said unto them: 'So be the LORD with you, as I will let you go, and your little ones; see ye that evil is before your face.
11ไม่ได้! พวกผู้ชายเท่านั้นไปได้ ไปรับใช้พระยาห์เวห์เสีย เพราะนั่นคือสิ่งที่พวกเจ้าต้องการ!” แล้วพวกเขาก็ถูกไล่ออกไปจากฟาโรห์
11Not so; go now ye that are men, and serve the LORD; for that is what ye desire.' And they were driven out from Pharaoh's presence.
12พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสกับโมเสสว่า “เหยียดมือออกเหนือแผ่นดินอียิปต์เรียกฝูงตั๊กแตน ให้มันขึ้นมาทั่วแผ่นดินอียิปต์และกินพืชทุกชนิดในแผ่นดิน รวมทั้งทุกอย่างที่ลูกเห็บเหลือไว้”
12And the LORD said unto Moses: 'Stretch out thy hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, that they may come up upon the land of Egypt, and eat every herb of the land, even all that the hail hath left.'
13โมเสสจึงเหยียดไม้เท้าออกเหนือแผ่นดินอียิปต์ พระยาห์เวห์ให้ลมตะวันออกพัดเหนือแผ่นดินตลอดวันและตลอดคืน พอรุ่งเช้า ลมตะวันออกก็พาฝูงตั๊กแตนมา
13And Moses stretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt, and the LORD brought an east wind upon the land all that day, and all the night; and when it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts.
14ฝูงตั๊กแตนขึ้นมาปกคลุมทั่วแผ่นดินอียิปต์และเกาะอยู่ทั่วเขตแดนอียิปต์ เป็นฝูงใหญ่รุนแรงอย่างยิ่ง ไม่เคยมีฝูงตั๊กแตนอย่างนี้มาก่อน และจะไม่มีอีกเลย
14And the locusts went up over all the land of Egypt, and rested in all the borders of Egypt; very grievous were they; before them there were no such locusts as they, neither after them shall be such.
15มันปกคลุมผิวพื้นดินจนแผ่นดินมืดไป และกินพืชทุกชนิดกับผลไม้ทุกอย่างที่ลูกเห็บเหลือไว้ ทั่วแผ่นดินอียิปต์ไม่เหลืออะไรเขียวอยู่เลย ไม่ว่าบนต้นไม้หรือในทุ่ง
15For they covered the face of the whole earth, so that the land was darkened; and they did eat every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left; and there remained not any green thing, either tree or herb of the field, through all the land of Egypt.
16ฟาโรห์รีบเรียกโมเสสกับอาโรนมาแล้วพูดว่า “เราทำบาปต่อพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของพวกเจ้าและต่อพวกเจ้าแล้ว
16Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron in haste; and he said: 'I have sinned against the LORD your God, and against you.
17ตอนนี้โปรดยกโทษบาปของเราอีกสักครั้ง และช่วยอธิษฐานต่อพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของพวกเจ้าให้เอาความตายนี้ไปจากเราด้วย”
17Now therefore forgive, I pray thee, my sin only this once, and entreat the LORD your God, that He may take away from me this death only.'
18โมเสสออกจากฟาโรห์แล้วอธิษฐานต่อพระยาห์เวห์
18And he went out from Pharaoh, and entreated the LORD.
19พระยาห์เวห์ให้ลมตะวันตกที่แรงจัดพัดมา ลมนั้นพัดฝูงตั๊กแตนไปลงในทะเลแดง จนไม่เหลือตั๊กแตนแม้แต่ตัวเดียวในเขตแดนอียิปต์
19And the LORD turned an exceeding strong west wind, which took up the locusts, and drove them into the Red Sea; there remained not one locust in all the border of Egypt.
20แต่พระยาห์เวห์ทำให้ใจฟาโรห์แข็งกระด้าง เขาจึงไม่ยอมปล่อยชาวอิสราเอลไป
20But the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he did not let the children of Israel go.
21พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสกับโมเสสว่า “เหยียดมือขึ้นไปทางท้องฟ้า ให้ความมืดปกคลุมแผ่นดินอียิปต์ เป็นความมืดทึบจนแทบสัมผัสได้”
21And the LORD said unto Moses: 'Stretch out thy hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt.'
22โมเสสเหยียดมือขึ้นไปทางท้องฟ้า ความมืดทึบก็ปกคลุมทั่วแผ่นดินอียิปต์เป็นเวลา 3 วัน
22And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days;
23ตลอด 3 วันนั้น ไม่มีใครมองเห็นกัน และไม่มีใครลุกไปไหนจากที่ของตน แต่ชาวอิสราเอลทุกคนมีแสงสว่างในที่อยู่อาศัยของตน
23they saw not one another, neither rose any from his place for three days; but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.
24ฟาโรห์เรียกโมเสสมาแล้วพูดว่า “ไปเถอะ ไปรับใช้พระยาห์เวห์ ฝูงแพะแกะกับฝูงวัวของพวกเจ้าเท่านั้นต้องอยู่ที่นี่ แต่พาเด็ก ๆ ไปด้วยได้”
24And Pharaoh called unto Moses, and said: 'Go ye, serve the LORD; only let your flocks and your herds be stayed; let your little ones also go with you.'
25โมเสสตอบว่า “ท่านต้องมอบเครื่องบูชาและเครื่องบูชาเผาทั้งตัวให้เราด้วย เพื่อเราจะถวายแด่พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของเรา
25And Moses said: 'Thou must also give into our hand sacrifices and burnt-offerings, that we may sacrifice unto the LORD our God.
26ฝูงสัตว์ของเราก็ต้องไปกับเราด้วย จะไม่เหลือแม้แต่กีบเดียว เพราะเราต้องนำสัตว์บางส่วนไปใช้ในการรับใช้พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของเรา และจนกว่าจะไปถึงที่นั่น เราก็ยังไม่รู้ว่าจะใช้อะไรรับใช้พระยาห์เวห์”
26Our cattle also shall go with us; there shall not a hoof be left behind; for thereof must we take to serve the LORD our God; and we know not with what we must serve the LORD, until we come thither.'
27แต่พระยาห์เวห์ทำให้ใจฟาโรห์แข็งกระด้าง เขาจึงไม่ยอมปล่อยพวกเขาไป
27But the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he would not let them go.
28ฟาโรห์พูดกับโมเสสว่า “ไปให้พ้นหน้าเรา! ระวังอย่ามาให้เราเห็นหน้าอีก เพราะวันที่เจ้าเห็นหน้าเรา เจ้าจะต้องตาย!”
28And Pharaoh said unto him: 'Get thee from me, take heed to thyself, see my face no more; for in the day thou seest my face thou shalt die.'
29โมเสสตอบว่า “ท่านพูดถูกแล้ว ผมจะไม่มาเห็นหน้าท่านอีก”
29And Moses said: 'Thou hast spoken well; I will see thy face again no more.'
