1จากนั้นชนเผ่าทั้งหมดของอิสราเอลมาหาดาวิดที่เฮโบรน และกล่าวว่า “พวกเราเป็นเลือดเนื้อเดียวกับท่าน
1Then came all the tribes of Israel to David unto Hebron, and spake, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh.
2ในอดีต แม้ซาอูลเป็นกษัตริย์เหนือเรา ท่านก็เป็นผู้นำอิสราเอลออกไปและกลับมา พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสกับท่านว่า ‘เจ้าจะเป็นผู้เลี้ยงแกะให้ประชาชนอิสราเอลของเรา และเจ้าจะเป็นผู้นำเหนืออิสราเอล’”
2Also in time past, when Saul was king over us, thou wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the LORD said to thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be a captain over Israel.
3ผู้อาวุโสทั้งหมดของอิสราเอลจึงมาพบกษัตริย์ที่เฮโบรน กษัตริย์ดาวิดทำพันธสัญญากับพวกเขาที่นั่นต่อพระพักตร์พระยาห์เวห์ แล้วพวกเขาเจิมดาวิดเป็นกษัตริย์เหนืออิสราเอล
3So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a league with them in Hebron before the LORD : and they anointed David king over Israel.
4ดาวิดมีอายุสามสิบปีเมื่อเริ่มครองราชย์ และครองราชย์สี่สิบปี
4¶ David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.
5ท่านครองราชย์เหนือยูดาห์ที่เฮโบรนเจ็ดปีกับหกเดือน และครองราชย์เหนืออิสราเอลกับยูดาห์ทั้งหมดที่เยรูซาเล็มสามสิบสามปี
5In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months: and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel and Judah.
6กษัตริย์กับคนของท่านไปยังเยรูซาเล็มเพื่อสู้กับชาวเยบุสที่อาศัยอยู่ในแผ่นดินนั้น ชาวเยบุสพูดกับดาวิดว่า “แม้แต่คนตาบอดกับคนขาพิการก็กันเจ้าไม่ให้เข้ามาได้” เพราะคิดว่าดาวิดไม่มีทางเข้าไปได้
6¶ And the king and his men went to Jerusalem unto the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land: which spake unto David, saying, Except thou take away the blind and the lame, thou shalt not come in hither: thinking, David cannot come in hither.
7แต่ดาวิดยึดป้อมปราการศิโยนได้ ที่นั่นคือเมืองของดาวิด
7Nevertheless David took the strong hold of Zion: the same is the city of David.
8วันนั้นดาวิดกล่าวว่า “ใครจะโจมตีชาวเยบุส ให้ขึ้นไปทางรางน้ำแล้วโจมตีคนขาพิการและคนตาบอดเหล่านั้นที่ดาวิดเกลียดชัง” ด้วยเหตุนี้จึงมีคำกล่าวว่า “คนตาบอดกับคนขาพิการเข้าไปในบ้านไม่ได้”
8And David said on that day, Whosoever getteth up to the gutter, and smiteth the Jebusites, and the lame and the blind, that are hated of David’s soul, he shall be chief and captain . Wherefore they said, The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.
9ดาวิดอาศัยอยู่ในป้อมปราการและเรียกที่นั่นว่าเมืองของดาวิด ท่านสร้างสิ่งก่อสร้างโดยรอบ จากมิลโลเข้าไปด้านใน
9So David dwelt in the fort, and called it the city of David. And David built round about from Millo and inward.
10ดาวิดยิ่งใหญ่ขึ้นเรื่อย ๆ เพราะพระยาห์เวห์ พระเจ้าแห่งกองทัพสถิตกับท่าน
10And David went on, and grew great, and the LORD God of hosts was with him.
11ฮีรามกษัตริย์เมืองไทระส่งทูตมาหาดาวิด พร้อมไม้สนซีดาร์ ช่างไม้ และช่างก่อหิน พวกเขาสร้างบ้านให้ดาวิด
11¶ And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and carpenters, and masons: and they built David an house.
12ดาวิดตระหนักว่าพระยาห์เวห์ทรงตั้งท่านเป็นกษัตริย์เหนืออิสราเอล และทรงยกอาณาจักรของท่านให้สูงขึ้นเพื่อประโยชน์ของประชาชนอิสราเอลของพระองค์
12And David perceived that the LORD had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel’s sake.
13หลังจากดาวิดย้ายจากเฮโบรนมาเยรูซาเล็ม ท่านรับนางสนมและภรรยาเพิ่มอีกจากเยรูซาเล็ม และท่านมีบุตรชายและบุตรสาวเพิ่มอีก
13¶ And David took him more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he was come from Hebron: and there were yet sons and daughters born to David.
14บุตรของท่านที่เกิดในเยรูซาเล็มมีชื่อดังนี้ ชัมมูอา โชบับ นาธัน โซโลมอน
14And these be the names of those that were born unto him in Jerusalem; Shammua, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon,
15อิบฮาร์ เอลีชูอา เนเฟก ยาเฟีย
15Ibhar also, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia,
16เอลีชามา เอลียาดา และเอลีเฟเลท
16And Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphalet.
17เมื่อชาวฟีลิสเตียได้ยินว่าดาวิดได้รับการเจิมเป็นกษัตริย์เหนืออิสราเอล พวกเขาทั้งหมดก็ยกทัพขึ้นไปตามหาดาวิด ดาวิดทราบข่าวจึงลงไปยังป้อมปราการ
17¶ But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard of it , and went down to the hold.
18ชาวฟีลิสเตียมาถึงและกระจายกำลังอยู่ในหุบเขาเรฟาอิม
18The Philistines also came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
19ดาวิดทูลถามพระยาห์เวห์ว่า “ข้าพระองค์ควรยกทัพขึ้นไปสู้กับชาวฟีลิสเตียหรือไม่? พระองค์จะทรงมอบพวกเขาไว้ในมือข้าพระองค์หรือ?” พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสกับดาวิดว่า “จงขึ้นไป เราจะมอบชาวฟีลิสเตียไว้ในมือเจ้าแน่นอน”
19And David enquired of the LORD , saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto David, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thine hand.
20ดาวิดไปถึงบาอัลเปราซิมและโจมตีพวกเขาที่นั่น ท่านกล่าวว่า “พระยาห์เวห์ทรงทะลวงศัตรูของข้าต่อหน้าข้า ราวกับน้ำที่ทะลักผ่านช่องแตก” ท่านจึงเรียกที่นั่นว่าบาอัลเปราซิม
20And David came to Baal-perazim, and David smote them there, and said, The LORD hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baal-perazim.

21And there they left their images, and David and his men burned them.

22¶ And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
23เมื่อดาวิดทูลถามพระยาห์เวห์ พระองค์ตรัสว่า “อย่าขึ้นไป จงอ้อมไปด้านหลังพวกเขา แล้วเข้าโจมตีทางด้านหน้าต้นหม่อน
23And when David enquired of the LORD , he said, Thou shalt not go up; but fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.
24เมื่อเจ้าได้ยินเสียงย่างเท้าบนยอดต้นหม่อน จงรีบลงมือ เพราะเมื่อนั้นพระยาห์เวห์ได้ออกไปนำหน้าเจ้าแล้วเพื่อโจมตีกองทัพชาวฟีลิสเตีย”
24And let it be, when thou hearest the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself: for then shall the LORD go out before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines.
25ดาวิดทำตามที่พระยาห์เวห์ทรงบัญชา และโจมตีชาวฟีลิสเตียตั้งแต่เกบาไปจนถึงเกเซอร์
25And David did so, as the LORD had commanded him; and smote the Philistines from Geba until thou come to Gazer.
