1The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven.
1พวกฟาริสีและสะดูสีมาหาพระองค์ และเพื่อทดสอบพระองค์ จึงขอให้พระองค์แสดงหมายสำคัญจากสวรรค์ให้พวกเขาเห็น
2He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.
2แต่พระองค์ตอบพวกเขาว่า “เมื่อถึงเวลาเย็น พวกคุณพูดว่า ‘อากาศจะดี เพราะท้องฟ้าเป็นสีแดง’
3And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?
3และในตอนเช้า พวกคุณพูดว่า ‘วันนี้อากาศจะไม่ดี เพราะท้องฟ้าแดงและมืดครึ้ม’ คนหน้าซื่อใจคด! พวกคุณรู้จักแยกแยะลักษณะของท้องฟ้า แต่กลับแยกแยะหมายสำคัญแห่งกาลเวลาไม่ได้!
4A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.
4คนรุ่นที่ชั่วร้ายและล่วงประเวณีแสวงหาหมายสำคัญ แต่จะไม่มีหมายสำคัญใดให้แก่คนรุ่นนี้ นอกจากหมายสำคัญของโยนาห์ผู้เผยพระวจนะ” แล้วพระองค์ละพวกเขาไว้และจากไป
5And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.
5เมื่อสาวกมาถึงอีกฝั่ง พวกเขาลืมเอาขนมปังมา
6¶ Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
6พระเยซูกล่าวกับพวกเขาว่า “จงระวังเชื้อแป้งของพวกฟาริสีและสะดูสีให้ดี”
7And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.
7พวกเขาจึงพูดกันว่า “เป็นเพราะพวกเราไม่ได้เอาขนมปังมา”
8Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?
8พระเยซูรู้ว่าพวกเขากำลังพูดกัน จึงกล่าวว่า “คนมีความเชื่อน้อย ทำไมพวกคุณจึงพูดกันว่า เป็นเพราะพวกคุณไม่ได้เอาขนมปังมา?
9Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
9พวกคุณยังไม่เข้าใจหรือ? จำขนมปังห้าก้อนสำหรับคนห้าพันคนไม่ได้หรือ และจำได้ไหมว่าพวกคุณเก็บได้กี่ตะกร้า?
10Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
10หรือขนมปังเจ็ดก้อนสำหรับคนสี่พันคน และพวกคุณเก็บได้กี่ตะกร้า?
11How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?
11ทำไมพวกคุณจึงไม่เข้าใจว่า เราไม่ได้พูดกับพวกคุณเรื่องขนมปัง? แต่จงระวังเชื้อแป้งของพวกฟาริสีและสะดูสี”
12Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
12เมื่อนั้น พวกเขาจึงเข้าใจว่า พระองค์ไม่ได้บอกให้ระวังเชื้อแป้งที่ใช้ทำขนมปัง แต่ให้ระวังคำสอนของพวกฟาริสีและสะดูสี
13¶ When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
13เมื่อพระเยซูมาถึงเขตซีซารียาฟีลิปปี พระองค์ถามสาวกว่า “ผู้คนพูดว่า เรา ผู้เป็นบุตรมนุษย์ เป็นใคร?”
14And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
14พวกเขาตอบว่า “บางคนว่าเป็นยอห์นผู้ทำพิธีบัพติศมา บางคนว่าเป็นเอลียาห์ และคนอื่นว่าเป็นเยเรมีย์ หรือผู้เผยพระวจนะคนหนึ่ง”
15He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
15พระองค์ถามพวกเขาว่า “แล้วพวกคุณล่ะ พูดว่าเราเป็นใคร?”
16And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
16ซีโมนเปโตรตอบว่า “ท่านคือพระคริสต์ พระบุตรของพระเจ้าผู้ทรงพระชนม์”
17And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
17พระเยซูตอบเขาว่า “ซีโมน บาร์โยนาห์ เจ้าย่อมเป็นสุข เพราะเนื้อและเลือดไม่ได้เปิดเผยเรื่องนี้แก่เจ้า แต่พระบิดาของเราผู้อยู่ในสวรรค์ต่างหาก
18And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
18เราบอกเจ้าด้วยว่า เจ้าคือเปโตร และบนศิลานี้ เราจะสร้างประชาคมของเรา และประตูแห่งฮาเดส จะเอาชนะประชาคมนั้นไม่ได้
19And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
19เราจะมอบกุญแจของอาณาจักรแห่งสวรรค์ให้เจ้า สิ่งใดที่เจ้าผูกไว้บนแผ่นดินโลก ก็จะเป็นสิ่งที่ผูกไว้แล้วในสวรรค์ และสิ่งใดที่เจ้าปลดไว้บนแผ่นดินโลก ก็จะเป็นสิ่งที่ปลดไว้แล้วในสวรรค์”
20Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.
20แล้วพระองค์กำชับสาวกไม่ให้บอกใครว่า พระองค์คือพระเยซูผู้เป็นพระคริสต์
21¶ From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
21ตั้งแต่เวลานั้น พระเยซูเริ่มบอกสาวกให้รู้ว่า พระองค์ต้องไปเยรูซาเล็ม ต้องทนทุกข์หลายอย่างจากพวกผู้อาวุโส หัวหน้าปุโรหิต และอาลักษณ์ ต้องถูกฆ่า และในวันที่สามจะฟื้นขึ้นจากความตาย
22Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.
22เปโตรพาพระองค์แยกออกไป และเริ่มตำหนิพระองค์ว่า “ขออย่าให้เกิดเรื่องนี้กับท่านเลย องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า! เรื่องนี้จะไม่มีวันเกิดขึ้นกับท่าน”
23But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
23แต่พระองค์หันมาและกล่าวกับเปโตรว่า “ถอยไปอยู่ข้างหลังเรา ซาตาน! เจ้าเป็นสิ่งที่ทำให้เราสะดุด เพราะสิ่งที่เจ้าใส่ใจไม่ใช่เรื่องของพระเจ้า แต่เป็นเรื่องของมนุษย์”
24¶ Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
24แล้วพระเยซูกล่าวกับสาวกว่า “ถ้าใครต้องการตามเรามา ให้เขาปฏิเสธตนเอง แบกกางเขนของตน และตามเรามา
25For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
25เพราะผู้ใดต้องการรักษาชีวิตของตนไว้ จะสูญเสียชีวิตนั้น แต่ผู้ใดสูญเสียชีวิตของตนเพราะเรา จะพบชีวิตนั้น
26For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
26คนหนึ่งจะได้ประโยชน์อะไร ถ้าได้ทั้งโลก แต่ต้องสูญเสียชีวิตของตน? หรือคนหนึ่งจะเอาอะไรมาแลกกับชีวิตของตน?
27For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
27เพราะบุตรมนุษย์จะมาในพระสิริของพระบิดาของพระองค์ พร้อมกับเหล่าทูตสวรรค์ของพระองค์ แล้วพระองค์จะตอบแทนแต่ละคนตามการกระทำของเขา
28Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
28เราบอกความจริงแก่พวกคุณว่า บางคนที่ยืนอยู่ที่นี่จะไม่ลิ้มรสความตาย จนกว่าจะได้เห็นบุตรมนุษย์มาในอาณาจักรของตน”
