1Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
1ที่รักทั้งหลาย อย่าเชื่อไปทุกวิญญาณ แต่จงทดสอบวิญญาณเหล่านั้นว่ามาจากพระเจ้าหรือไม่ เพราะมีผู้พยากรณ์เท็จจำนวนมากออกไปในโลกแล้ว
2Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
2พวกคุณรู้จักพระวิญญาณของพระเจ้าได้อย่างนี้: ทุกวิญญาณที่ยอมรับว่าพระเยซูคริสต์มาเป็นมนุษย์นั้นมาจากพระเจ้า
3And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
3และทุกวิญญาณที่ไม่ยอมรับว่าพระเยซูคริสต์มาเป็นมนุษย์นั้นไม่ได้มาจากพระเจ้า นี่คือวิญญาณของผู้ต่อต้านพระคริสต์ ซึ่งพวกคุณได้ยินว่ากำลังมา และตอนนี้ก็อยู่ในโลกแล้ว
4Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
4ลูก ๆ พวกคุณมาจากพระเจ้า และชนะพวกเขาแล้ว เพราะผู้ที่อยู่ในพวกคุณยิ่งใหญ่กว่าผู้ที่อยู่ในโลก
5They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.
5พวกเขามาจากโลก จึงพูดเรื่องของโลก และโลกก็ฟังพวกเขา
6We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
6เรามาจากพระเจ้า คนที่รู้จักพระเจ้าก็ฟังเรา คนที่ไม่ได้มาจากพระเจ้าก็ไม่ฟังเรา เรารู้จักวิญญาณแห่งความจริงและวิญญาณแห่งความหลงผิดได้อย่างนี้
7Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
7ที่รักทั้งหลาย ให้เรารักกันและกัน เพราะความรักมาจากพระเจ้า และทุกคนที่รักก็เกิดจากพระเจ้าและรู้จักพระเจ้า
8He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
8คนที่ไม่รักก็ไม่รู้จักพระเจ้า เพราะพระเจ้าคือความรัก
9In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
9ความรักของพระเจ้าปรากฏให้เห็นในเราอย่างนี้: พระเจ้าส่งพระบุตรผู้ถือกำเนิดเพียงองค์เดียว ของพระองค์เข้ามาในโลก เพื่อให้เรามีชีวิตโดยอาศัยพระบุตร
10Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
10นี่คือความรัก: ไม่ใช่การที่เรารักพระเจ้า แต่คือการที่พระองค์รักเรา และส่งพระบุตรของพระองค์มาเป็นเครื่องบูชาชดใช้บาป ของเรา
11Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
11ที่รักทั้งหลาย ถ้าพระเจ้ารักเราอย่างนี้ เราก็ควรรักกันและกัน
12No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
12ไม่มีใครเคยเห็นพระเจ้าเลย ถ้าเรารักกันและกัน พระเจ้าก็คงอยู่ในเรา และความรักของพระองค์ก็สมบูรณ์ในเรา
13Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
13เรารู้ว่าเราคงอยู่ในพระองค์ และพระองค์คงอยู่ในเรา เพราะพระองค์ประทานแก่เราจากพระวิญญาณของพระองค์
14And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
14เราได้เห็น และเป็นพยานว่าพระบิดาส่งพระบุตรมาเป็นพระผู้ช่วยให้รอดของโลก
15Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.
15ทุกคนที่ยอมรับว่าพระเยซูเป็นพระบุตรของพระเจ้า พระเจ้าก็คงอยู่ในคนนั้น และคนนั้นคงอยู่ในพระเจ้า
16And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
16เราได้รู้ และเชื่อในความรักที่พระเจ้ามีต่อเรา พระเจ้าคือความรัก และคนที่คงอยู่ในความรักก็คงอยู่ในพระเจ้า และพระเจ้าคงอยู่ในเขา
17Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
17ความรักสมบูรณ์ในหมู่เราอย่างนี้ เพื่อให้เรามีความมั่นใจในวันพิพากษา เพราะพระองค์เป็นอย่างไร เราก็เป็นอย่างนั้นในโลกนี้
18There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
18ในความรักไม่มีความกลัว แต่ความรักที่สมบูรณ์ขับไล่ความกลัวออกไป เพราะความกลัวมาพร้อมกับการลงโทษ คนที่กลัวจึงยังไม่สมบูรณ์ในความรัก
19We love him, because he first loved us.
19เรารักพระองค์ เพราะพระองค์รักเราก่อน
20If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
20ถ้าใครพูดว่า “ข้าพเจ้ารักพระเจ้า” แต่เกลียดพี่น้องของตน คนนั้นเป็นคนโกหก เพราะคนที่ไม่รักพี่น้องซึ่งตนมองเห็น จะรักพระเจ้าซึ่งตนมองไม่เห็นได้อย่างไร?
21And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.
21พระบัญชาที่เราได้รับจากพระองค์คือ คนที่รักพระเจ้าควรรักพี่น้องของตนด้วย
