1My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
1ลูก ๆ ของข้าพเจ้า ข้าพเจ้าเขียนสิ่งเหล่านี้ถึงพวกคุณ เพื่อไม่ให้ทำบาป แต่ถ้าใครทำบาป เราก็มีผู้แก้ต่าง อยู่กับพระบิดา คือพระเยซูคริสต์ ผู้ชอบธรรม
2And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
2พระองค์เองเป็นเครื่องบูชาชดใช้บาป ของเรา และไม่ใช่ของเราเท่านั้น แต่ของทั้งโลกด้วย
3And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
3เรารู้ว่าเรารู้จักพระองค์ได้อย่างนี้: ถ้าเราปฏิบัติตามพระบัญชาของพระองค์
4He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
4คนที่พูดว่า “ข้าพเจ้ารู้จักพระองค์” แต่ไม่ปฏิบัติตามพระบัญชาของพระองค์ เป็นคนโกหก และความจริงไม่ได้อยู่ในเขา
5But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
5แต่ความรักของพระเจ้าสมบูรณ์อย่างแท้จริงในทุกคนที่ปฏิบัติตามถ้อยคำของพระองค์ เรารู้ว่าเราอยู่ในพระองค์ได้อย่างนี้:
6He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
6คนที่พูดว่าตนคงอยู่ในพระองค์ ก็ควรดำเนินชีวิตเช่นเดียวกับที่พระองค์ดำเนินชีวิต
7Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.
7พี่น้อง ข้าพเจ้าไม่ได้เขียนพระบัญชาใหม่ถึงพวกคุณ แต่เขียนพระบัญชาเก่าที่พวกคุณมีมาตั้งแต่แรกเริ่ม พระบัญชาเก่านั้นคือถ้อยคำที่พวกคุณได้ยินตั้งแต่แรกเริ่ม
8Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.
8อีกครั้ง ข้าพเจ้ากำลังเขียนพระบัญชาใหม่ถึงพวกคุณ ซึ่งเป็นจริงทั้งในพระองค์และในพวกคุณ เพราะความมืดกำลังผ่านพ้นไป และความสว่างแท้กำลังส่องอยู่แล้ว
9He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.
9คนที่พูดว่าตนอยู่ในความสว่าง แต่เกลียดพี่น้องของตน ก็ยังอยู่ในความมืดจนถึงตอนนี้
10He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.
10คนที่รักพี่น้องของตนคงอยู่ในความสว่าง และในเขาก็ไม่มีเหตุให้สะดุด
11But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.
11แต่คนที่เกลียดพี่น้องของตนอยู่ในความมืด และดำเนินชีวิตในความมืด เขาไม่รู้ว่ากำลังไปที่ไหน เพราะความมืดทำให้ตาของเขามืดบอด
12I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake.
12ลูก ๆ ข้าพเจ้าเขียนถึงพวกคุณ เพราะบาปของพวกคุณได้รับการยกโทษแล้วด้วยพระนามของพระองค์
13I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father.
13ผู้เป็นพ่อทั้งหลาย ข้าพเจ้าเขียนถึงพวกคุณ เพราะรู้จักพระองค์ผู้มีมาตั้งแต่แรกเริ่ม คนหนุ่มทั้งหลาย ข้าพเจ้าเขียนถึงพวกคุณ เพราะชนะผู้ชั่วร้ายแล้ว ลูก ๆ ข้าพเจ้าเขียนถึงพวกคุณ เพราะรู้จักพระบิดา
14I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.
14ผู้เป็นพ่อทั้งหลาย ข้าพเจ้าได้เขียนถึงพวกคุณ เพราะรู้จักพระองค์ผู้มีมาตั้งแต่แรกเริ่ม คนหนุ่มทั้งหลาย ข้าพเจ้าได้เขียนถึงพวกคุณ เพราะเข้มแข็ง ถ้อยคำของพระเจ้าคงอยู่ในพวกคุณ และชนะผู้ชั่วร้ายแล้ว
15Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
15อย่ารักโลก หรือสิ่งต่าง ๆ ที่อยู่ในโลก ถ้าใครรักโลก ความรักของพระบิดาก็ไม่ได้อยู่ในคนนั้น
16For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
16เพราะทุกสิ่งที่อยู่ในโลก คือความปรารถนาของเนื้อหนัง ความอยากได้สิ่งที่ตาเห็น และความทะนงตนในชีวิตนี้ ไม่ได้มาจากพระบิดา แต่มาจากโลก
17And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
17โลกกำลังผ่านพ้นไป พร้อมกับความปรารถนาต่าง ๆ ของโลก แต่คนที่ทำตามสิ่งที่พระเจ้าประสงค์จะคงอยู่ตลอดไป
18Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
18ลูก ๆ ตอนนี้เป็นช่วงเวลาสุดท้ายแล้ว และตามที่พวกคุณได้ยินว่าผู้ต่อต้านพระคริสต์กำลังมา ตอนนี้ก็มีผู้ต่อต้านพระคริสต์หลายคนเกิดขึ้นแล้ว จากเรื่องนี้ เราจึงรู้ว่านี่คือวาระสุดท้าย
19They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out , that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
19พวกเขาออกไปจากเรา แต่ไม่ได้เป็นพวกเดียวกับเรา เพราะถ้าเป็นพวกเดียวกับเรา พวกเขาก็คงอยู่กับเรา แต่ที่พวกเขาออกไป ก็เพื่อให้เห็นชัดว่าไม่มีใครในพวกเขาเป็นพวกเดียวกับเรา
20But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.
20แต่พวกคุณมีการเจิมจากพระองค์ผู้บริสุทธิ์ และทุกคนมีความรู้
21I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
21ข้าพเจ้าไม่ได้เขียนถึงพวกคุณเพราะพวกคุณไม่รู้ความจริง แต่เพราะพวกคุณรู้ความจริง และรู้ว่าไม่มีคำโกหกใดมาจากความจริง
22Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
22ใครเป็นคนโกหก ถ้าไม่ใช่คนที่ปฏิเสธว่าพระเยซูคือพระคริสต์? คนนี้แหละคือผู้ต่อต้านพระคริสต์ คือคนที่ปฏิเสธทั้งพระบิดาและพระบุตร
23Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: [but] he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also .
23ทุกคนที่ปฏิเสธพระบุตรก็ไม่มีพระบิดา คนที่ยอมรับพระบุตรก็มีพระบิดาด้วย
24Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.
24ส่วนพวกคุณ จงให้สิ่งที่ได้ยินตั้งแต่แรกเริ่มคงอยู่ในพวกคุณ ถ้าสิ่งนั้นคงอยู่ในพวกคุณ พวกคุณก็จะคงอยู่ในพระบุตรและในพระบิดาด้วย
25And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.
25นี่คือพระสัญญาที่พระองค์สัญญาไว้กับเรา คือชีวิตนิรันดร์
26These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.
26ข้าพเจ้าเขียนสิ่งเหล่านี้ถึงพวกคุณ เกี่ยวกับคนที่พยายามชักนำพวกคุณให้หลงผิด
27But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
27ส่วนพวกคุณ การเจิมที่ได้รับจากพระองค์คงอยู่ในพวกคุณ จึงไม่จำเป็นต้องให้ใครมาสอน แต่การเจิมของพระองค์สอนพวกคุณเกี่ยวกับทุกสิ่ง และเป็นความจริง ไม่ใช่คำโกหก ตามที่การเจิมนั้นได้สอน พวกคุณก็จะคงอยู่ในพระองค์
28And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
28บัดนี้ ลูก ๆ จงคงอยู่ในพระองค์ เพื่อเมื่อพระองค์ปรากฏ เราจะมีความมั่นใจ และไม่ต้องอับอายต่อหน้าพระองค์เมื่อพระองค์มา
29If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.
29ถ้าพวกคุณรู้ว่าพระองค์ชอบธรรม ก็รู้ด้วยว่าทุกคนที่ทำสิ่งที่ชอบธรรมเกิดจากพระองค์
