1アロンの子ナダブとアビフは、それぞれ香炉を取り、火を入れ、その上に香を置き、主が命じられなかった火を主の前にささげた。
1And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took each of them his censer, and put fire therein, and laid incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which He had not commanded them.
2すると、主の前から火が出て彼らを焼き尽くし、彼らは主の前で死んだ。
2And there came forth fire from before the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD.
3そこでモーセはアロンに言った。「主が語られたのはこのことである。 『わたしに近づく者たちの間で、わたしは聖なる者とされ、 すべての民の前で、わたしは栄光を現す。』」 アロンは黙っていた。
3Then Moses said unto Aaron: 'This is it that the LORD spoke, saying: Through them that are nigh unto Me I will be sanctified, and before all the people I will be glorified.' And Aaron held his peace.
4モーセはアロンの叔父ウジエルの子ら、ミシャエルとエルツァファンを呼び寄せ、彼らに言った。「近づきなさい。そしてあなたがたの兄弟たちを聖所の前から宿営の外へ運び出しなさい。」
4And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said unto them: 'Draw near, carry your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the camp.'
5彼らは近づき、モーセが言ったように、長服を着せたまま彼らを宿営の外へ運び出した。
5So they drew near, and carried them in their tunics out of the camp, as Moses had said.
6モーセはアロンと、その子エルアザル、イタマルに言った。「頭髪を乱してはならず、衣を引き裂いてはならない。あなたがたが死なず、また主の怒りが全会衆に及ばないためである。しかし、あなたがたの兄弟であるイスラエルの全家は、主が燃え上がらせたこの火を嘆き悲しむがよい。
6And Moses said unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons: 'Let not the hair of your heads go loose, neither tend your clothes, that ye die not, and that He be not wroth with all the congregation; but let your brethren, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which the LORD hath kindled.
7あなたがたが死なないために、会見の天幕の入り口から出てはならない。主の注ぎ油があなたがたの上にあるからである。」彼らはモーセの言葉の通りにした。
7And ye shall not go out from the door of the tent of meeting, lest ye die; for the anointing oil of the LORD is upon you.' And they did according to the word of Moses.
8そして主はアロンに言われた。
8And the LORD spoke unto Aaron, saying:
9「あなたも、あなたの子らも、会見の天幕に入るときには、ぶどう酒や強い酒を飲んではならない。死なないためである。これは代々にわたる永遠の掟である。
9'Drink no wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tent of meeting, that ye die not; it shall be a statute forever throughout your generations.
10あなたがたは聖なるものと俗なるもの、汚れたものと清いものを区別する。
10And that ye may put difference between the holy and the common, and between the unclean and the clean;
11また、あなたがたは、主がモーセを通してイスラエルの子らに語られたすべての掟を、彼らに教える。」
11and that ye may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the LORD hath spoken unto them by the hand of Moses.'
12モーセはアロンと、残された子であるエルアザルとイタマルに言った。「主への火によるささげ物のうち、残っている穀物のささげ物を取り、祭壇のそばでパン種を入れずに食べなさい。それは最も聖なるものだからである。
12And Moses spoke unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons that were left: 'Take the meal-offering that remaineth of the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and eat it without leaven beside the altar; for it is most holy.
13あなたがたはそれを聖なる場所で食べる。それは主への火によるささげ物の中からの、あなたとあなたの子らの分だからである。私はそのように命じられている。
13And ye shall eat it in a holy place, because it is thy due, and thy sons' due, of the offerings of the LORD made by fire; for so I am commanded.
14また揺り動かされた胸と持ち上げられたももは、清い場所で食べる。あなたと、あなたと共にいる息子たちと娘たちも食べることができる。これらは、イスラエルの子らの和解のいけにえから、あなたとあなたの子らの分として与えられているからである。
14And the breast of waving and the thigh of heaving shall ye eat in a clean place; thou, and thy sons, and thy daughters with thee; for they are given as thy due, and thy sons' due, out of the sacrifices of the peace-offerings of the children of Israel.
15彼らは、火によるささげ物である脂肪とともに、持ち上げられたももと揺り動かされた胸を持って来て、主の前で揺り動かすささげ物として揺り動かす。主が命じられた通り、それはあなたとあなたの子らの永遠の分となる。」
15The thigh of heaving and the breast of waving shall they bring with the offerings of the fat made by fire, to wave it for a wave-offering before the LORD; and it shall be thine, and thy sons' with thee, as a due for ever; as the LORD hath commanded.'
16モーセは贖罪のささげ物の山羊について念入りに尋ねたが、それはすでに焼かれていた。彼はアロンの残された子エルアザルとイタマルに怒って言った。
16And Moses diligently inquired for the goat of the sin-offering, and, behold, it was burnt; and he was angry with Eleazar and with Ithamar, the sons of Aaron that were left, saying:
17「なぜあなたがたは聖所の場所で、贖罪のささげ物を食べなかったのか。それは最も聖なるものであり、会衆の咎を負うため、また主の前で彼らのために贖いを行うために、あなたがたに与えられたものではないか。
17'Wherefore have ye not eaten the sin-offering in the place of the sanctuary, seeing it is most holy, and He hath given it you to bear the iniquity of the congregation, to make atonement for them before the LORD?
18その血は聖所の内側に持ち込まれなかった。私が命じた通りに、あなたがたは必ずそれを聖所で食べるべきであった。」
18Behold, the blood of it was not brought into the sanctuary within; ye should certainly have eaten it in the sanctuary, as I commanded.'
19アロンはモーセに言った。「今日、彼らは主の前に贖罪のささげ物と全焼のささげ物をささげた。しかし、このようなことが私の身に起こった。もし今日、私が贖罪のささげ物を食べていたなら、主の目にかなっただろうか。」
19And Aaron spoke unto Moses: 'Behold, this day have they offered their sin-offering and their burnt-offering before the LORD, and there have befallen me such things as these; and if I had eaten the sin-offering to-day, would it have been well-pleasing in the sight of the LORD?
20モーセはそれを聞いて、それをよしとした。
20And when Moses heard that, it was well-pleasing in his sight.
