1主はモーセに告げられた。
1And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying:
2「イスラエルの子らに告げなさい。『もし女が身ごもり、男の子を産んだなら、彼女は七日間汚れる。月経の期間と同じように汚れる。
2Speak unto the children of Israel, saying: If a woman be delivered, and bear a man-child, then she shall be unclean seven days; as in the days of the impurity of her sickness shall she be unclean.
3八日目に、その子の包皮の肉に割礼を施す。
3And in the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.
4彼女は血の清めの期間を三十三日過ごす。清めの期間が満ちるまで、聖なるものにいっさい触れてはならず、聖所に入ってもならない。
4And she shall continue in the blood of purification three and thirty days; she shall touch no hallowed thing, nor come into the sanctuary, until the days of her purification be fulfilled.
5女の子を産んだなら、月経のときと同じように二週間汚れる。その後、血の清めの期間を六十六日過ごす。
5But if she bear a maid-child, then she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her impurity; and she shall continue in the blood of purification threescore and six days.
6『息子あるいは娘のための清めの期間が満ちたとき、彼女は全焼のささげ物として一歳の子羊と、贖罪のささげ物として家鳩の雛あるいは山鳩を、会見の天幕の入り口にいる祭司のところに持って来る。
6And when the days of her purification are fulfilled, for a son, or for a daughter, she shall bring a lamb of the first year for a burnt-offering, and a young pigeon, or a turtle-dove, for a sin-offering, unto the door of the tent of meeting, unto the priest.
7祭司はそれを主の前にささげ、彼女のために贖いを行う。こうして彼女は出血から清められる。 これが、男の子であれ女の子であれ、子を産んだ女についての律法である。
7And he shall offer it before the LORD, and make atonement for her; and she shall be cleansed from the fountain of her blood. This is the law for her that beareth, whether a male or a female.
8もし子羊をささげる余裕がないなら、二羽の山鳩か二羽の家鳩の雛を取りなさい。一羽は全焼のささげ物、もう一羽は贖罪のささげ物とする。祭司は彼女のために贖いを行う。そうすれば彼女は清くなる。』」
8And if her means suffice not for a lamb, then she shall take two turtle-doves, or two young pigeons: the one for a burnt-offering, and the other for a sin-offering; and the priest shall make atonement for her, and she shall be clean.
