1シオンで安逸に暮らす者たちに災いあれ。 サマリアの山で安心しきっている者たちにも。 諸国の第一とされる国の名高い者たち、 イスラエルの家が頼って行く者たちよ。
1Woe to them that are at ease in Zion, and to them that are secure in the mountain of Samaria, the notable men of the first of the nations, to whom the house of Israel come!
2カルネへ行って見よ。 そこから大ハマトへ行け。 さらにペリシテ人のガトへ下れ。 それらは、あなたがたの王国より優れているか。 その領土は、あなたがたの領土より広いか。
2Pass ye unto Calneh, and see, and from thence go ye to Hamath the great; then go down to Gath of the Philistines; are they better than these kingdoms? or is their border greater than your border?
3災いの日を遠ざけながら、 暴虐の座を引き寄せる者たちに災いあれ。
3Ye that put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near;
4彼らは象牙の寝台に横たわり、 長椅子の上で手足を伸ばし、 羊の群れから子羊を、 牛舎の中から子牛を取って食べる。
4That lie upon beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of the stall;
5竪琴の弦をかき鳴らし、 ダビデのように自分たちのために楽器を考え出す。
5That thrum on the psaltery, that devise for themselves instruments of music, like David;
6鉢からぶどう酒を飲み、 最上の香油を身に塗る。 しかし、ヨセフの破滅を痛まない。
6That drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the chief ointments; but they are not grieved for the hurt of Joseph.
7それゆえ今、彼らは捕囚となる者たちの先頭に立って行く。 寝そべって騒ぐ宴は終わる。
7Therefore now shall they go captive at the head of them that go captive, and the revelry of them that stretched themselves shall pass away.
8「主なる神はご自身にかけて誓われた」 と万軍の神、主は言われる。 「私はヤコブの誇りを忌み嫌い、 その要塞を憎む。 それゆえ、町とその中のすべてのものを引き渡す。
8The Lord GOD hath sworn by Himself, saith the LORD, the God of hosts: I abhor the pride of Jacob, and hate his palaces; and I will deliver up the city with all that is therein.
9一軒の家に十人が残っていても、 彼らは死ぬ。」
9And it shall come to pass, if there remain ten men in one house, that they shall die.
10人の親族、すなわち遺体を焼く者が、家から遺体を運び出す。彼が家の奥にいる者に、「まだ誰か一緒にいるか」と尋ね、その者が「いない」と答えると、彼は言う。「黙れ。主の御名を口にしてはならない。」
10And when a man's uncle shall take him up, even he that burneth him, to bring out the bones out of the house, and shall say unto him that is in the innermost parts of the house: 'Is there yet any with thee?' and he shall say: 'No'; then shall he say: 'Hold thy peace; for we must not make mention of the name of the LORD.'
11見よ、主が命じられると、 大きな家は粉々に砕かれ、 小さな家も砕け散る。
11For, behold, the LORD commandeth, and the great house shall be smitten into splinters, and the little house into chips.
12馬が岩山を駆けるだろうか。 そこで牛を使って耕すだろうか。 しかし、あなたがたは公正を毒に変え、 義の実を苦味に変えた。
12Do horses run upon the rocks? Doth one plow there with oxen? that ye have turned justice into gall, and the fruit of righteousness into wormwood;
13あなたがたは何にもならないものを喜び、 「われわれは自分たちの力で角を得たではないか」と言う。
13Ye that rejoice in a thing of nought, that say: 'Have we not taken to us horns by our own strength?'
14「見よ、イスラエルの家よ、 私はあなたがたに立ち向かう一つの国を起こす」 と万軍の神、主は言われる。 「彼らはハマトの入口からアラバの谷川まで、 あなたがたを苦しめる。」
14For, behold, I will raise up against you a nation, O house of Israel, saith the LORD, the God of hosts; and they shall afflict you from the entrance of Hamath unto the Brook of the Arabah.
