1サマリアの山にいるバシャンの雌牛たちよ、この言葉を聞け。あなたがたは弱い者を虐げ、貧しい者を踏みにじり、自分の夫たちに「飲み物を持って来なさい」と言う。
1Hear this word, ye kine of Bashan, that are in the mountain of Samaria, that oppress the poor, that crush the needy, that say unto their lords: 'Bring, that we may feast.'
2主なる神はご自分の聖さにかけて誓われた。 「見よ、あなたがたにその日が来る。 人々はあなたがたを鉤で引いて行き、 最後の者まで釣り針で引いて行く。
2The Lord GOD hath sworn by His holiness: Lo, surely the days shall come upon you, that ye shall be taken away with hooks, and your residue with fish-hooks.
3あなたがたは城壁の裂け目から、 それぞれ真っすぐ前へ出て行き、 ハルモンへ投げ捨てられる」 と主は言われる。
3And ye shall go out at the breaches, every one straight before her; and ye shall be cast into Harmon, saith the LORD.
4「ベテルへ行って罪を犯せ。 ギルガルへ行って、さらに罪を重ねよ。 毎朝いけにえを、 三日ごとに十分の一を携えて来い。
4Come to Beth-el, and transgress, to Gilgal, and multiply transgression; and bring your sacrifices in the morning, and your tithes after three days;
5パン種を入れたものを感謝のいけにえとしてささげ、 自発のささげ物を宣言し、言いふらせ。 イスラエルの民よ、これこそあなたがたの好むことだ」 と主なる神は言われる。
5And offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving of that which is leavened, and proclaim freewill-offerings and publish them; for so ye love to do, O ye children of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.
6「私はあなたがたのどの町でも歯をきれいなままにし、 すべての場所でパンを欠乏させた。 それでも、あなたがたは私のもとに帰らなかった」 と主は言われる。
6And I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places; yet have ye not returned unto Me, saith the LORD.
7「また、収穫までなお三か月ある時に、 私はあなたがたから雨を差し止めた。 ある町には雨を降らせ、 別の町には雨を降らせなかった。 ある畑には雨が降り、 雨の降らなかった畑は枯れた。
7And I also have withholden the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest; and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city; one piece was rained upon, and the piece whereupon it rained not withered.
8二つ、三つの町が水を飲むために、 一つの町へよろめきながら行ったが、 満たされなかった。 それでも、あなたがたは私のもとに帰らなかった」 と主は言われる。
8So two or three cities wandered unto one city to drink water, and were not satisfied; yet have ye not returned unto Me, saith the LORD.
9「私は立ち枯れと白かびで、 あなたがたの園とぶどう畑を幾度も打った。 群がるいなごは、いちじくの木とオリーブの木を食い尽くした。 それでも、あなたがたは私のもとに帰らなかった」 と主は言われる。
9I have smitten you with blasting and mildew; the multitude of your gardens and your vineyards and your fig-trees and your olive-trees hath the palmer-worm devoured; yet have ye not returned unto Me, saith the LORD.
10「私はエジプトにしたように、 あなたがたの間に疫病を送った。 あなたがたの若者を剣で殺し、 馬を奪い去った。 あなたがたの陣営の悪臭を、 あなたがたの鼻に立ち上らせた。 それでも、あなたがたは私のもとに帰らなかった」 と主は言われる。
10I have sent among you the pestilence in the way of Egypt; your young men have I slain with the sword, and have carried away your horses; and I have made the stench of your camp to come up even into your nostrils; yet have ye not returned unto Me, saith the LORD.
11「神がソドムとゴモラを覆された時のように、 私はあなたがたの一部を覆した。 あなたがたは火の中から取り出された燃えさしのようであった。 それでも、あなたがたは私のもとに帰らなかった」 と主は言われる。
11I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as a brand plucked out of the burning; yet have ye not returned unto Me, saith the LORD.
12「それゆえ、イスラエルよ、私はあなたにこうする。 だから、イスラエルよ、 あなたの神に会う備えをせよ。
12Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel; because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel.
13見よ、山々を形造り、風を創造し、 人にご自分の思いを告げ、 朝を暗闇に変え、 地の高き所を踏み歩かれる方。 その名は主、万軍の神である。」
13For, lo, He that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth; the LORD, the God of hosts, is His name.
