1主はこう言われる。 「モアブの三つの背きのため、いや、四つの背きのために、 私はその罰を取り消さない。 彼がエドムの王の骨を焼いて石灰にしたからだ。
1Thus saith the LORD: For three transgressions of Moab, yea, for four, I will not reverse it: because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime.
2私はモアブに火を送り、 それはケリヨトの宮殿を焼き尽くす。 モアブは騒乱の中で、 叫び声と角笛の音の中で死ぬ。
2So will I send a fire upon Moab, and it shall devour the palaces of Kerioth; and Moab shall die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the horn;
3私はその中から裁き人を断ち滅ぼし、 そのすべての首長を、裁き人とともに殺す」 と主は言われる。
3And I will cut off the judge from the midst thereof, and will slay all the princes thereof with him, saith the LORD.
4主はこう言われる。 「ユダの三つの背きのため、いや、四つの背きのために、 私はその罰を取り消さない。 彼らが主の律法を退け、 その定めを守らず、 父祖たちが従った偽りに、 彼らも惑わされたからだ。
4Thus saith the LORD: For three transgressions of Judah, yea, for four, I will not reverse it: because they have rejected the law of the LORD, and have not kept His statutes, and their lies have caused them to err, after which their fathers did walk.
5私はユダに火を送り、 それはエルサレムの宮殿を焼き尽くす。」
5So will I send a fire upon Judah, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem.
6主はこう言われる。 「イスラエルの三つの背きのため、いや、四つの背きのために、 私はその罰を取り消さない。 彼らが義人を銀で売り、 貧しい者を一足の履物のために売ったからだ。
6Thus saith the LORD: For three transgressions of Israel, yea, for four, I will not reverse it: because they sell the righteous for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes;
7彼らは貧しい者の頭を地のちりに踏みつけ、 虐げられた者に正しい裁きを与えない。 父とその息子が同じ女のもとへ行き、 私の聖なる名を汚している。
7That pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the humble; and a man and his father go unto the same maid, to profane My holy name;
8彼らはどの祭壇のそばでも、 質に取った衣の上に横たわる。 自分たちの神 の家で、 罰金として取り立てたぶどう酒を飲む。
8And they lay themselves down beside every altar upon clothes taken in pledge, and in the house of their God they drink the wine of them that have been fined.
9しかし、彼らの前からアモリ人を滅ぼしたのは私である。 その背丈は杉の木のように高く、 樫の木のように強かった。 しかし私は、その上の実も、 下の根も滅ぼした。
9Yet destroyed I the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.
10また、私はあなたがたをエジプトの地から導き上げ、 四十年の間、荒野を導いて、 アモリ人の地を所有させた。
10Also I brought you up out of the land of Egypt, and led you forty years in the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorites.
11私はあなたがたの息子たちの中から預言者を、 若者の中からナジル人を起こした。 イスラエルの民よ、 これは事実ではないか」と主は言われる。
11And I raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for Nazirites. Is it not even thus, O ye children of Israel? saith the LORD.
12「しかし、あなたがたはナジル人にぶどう酒を飲ませ、 預言者たちに『預言するな』と命じた。
12But ye gave the Nazirites wine to drink; and commanded the prophets, saying: 'Prophesy not.'
13見よ、 私はあなたがたをその場で押しつぶす。 穀物を満載した荷車が地を押しつぶすように。
13Behold, I will make it creak under you, as a cart creaketh that is full of sheaves.
14足の速い者も逃げ場を失い、 強い者も自分の力を発揮できず、 勇士も自分の命を救えない。
14And flight shall fail the swift, and the strong shall not exert his strength, neither shall the mighty deliver himself;
15弓を取る者も持ちこたえられず、 足の速い者も逃げられず、 馬に乗る者も自分の命を救えない。
15Neither shall he stand that handleth the bow; and he that is swift of foot shall not deliver himself; neither shall he that rideth the horse deliver himself;
16勇士の中で最も心の強い者も、 その日には裸で逃げる」 と主は言われる。
16And he that is courageous among the mighty shall flee away naked in that day, saith the LORD.
