1E HOOKANI olioli oukou i ke Akua, i ko kakou ikaika: E hooho hauoli i ke Akua o Iakoba.
1For the Leader; upon the Gittith. A Psalm of Asaph. (81-2) Sing aloud unto God our strength; shout unto the God of Jacob.
2E hookiekie i ke mele ana, a e ho mai hoi i ka pahu kani, A me ka lira oluolu, a me ka violaumi.
2(81-3) Take up the melody, and sound the timbrel, the sweet harp with the psaltery.
3E puhi oukou i ka pu i ka mahina hou, A i ka mahina poepoe hoi no ka la ahaaina.
3(81-4) Blow the horn at the new moon, at the full moon for our feast-day.
4No ka mea, he olelo paa keia no ka Iseraela, O ke kanawai hoi o ke Akua o ka Iakoba.
4(81-5) For it is a statute for Israel, an ordinance of the God of Jacob.
5Kau no oia i keia i kanawai no ka Iosepa, Ia ia i hele aku ai iwaena o Aigupita; A lohe no hoi au i ka olelo maopopo ole ia'u.
5(81-6) He appointed it in Joseph for a testimony, when He went forth against the land of Egypt. The speech of one that I knew not did I hear:
6Hoopakele ae la au i kona poohiwi i ke kaumaha; Hoopakeleia no hoi kona mau lima i na ipu.
6(81-7) 'I removed his shoulder from the burden; His hands were freed from the basket.
7I ka popilikia, kahea mai oe, a hoopakele aku ai ia oe; A pane aku la au ma kahi malu o ka hekili: Hoao aku au ia oe ma na wai o Meriba.
7(81-8) Thou didst call in trouble, and I rescued thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder; I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah
8E hoolohe mai, e ko'u poe kanaka, a e ao aku au ia oe; Ina e hoolohe mai oe ia'u, e ka Iseraela;
8(81-9) Hear, O My people, and I will admonish thee: O Israel, if thou wouldest hearken unto Me!
9Mai noho ke akua e ae me oe, Mai kulou hoi imua o ke akua e ae.
9(81-10) There shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any foreign god.
10Owau no o Iehova, kou Akua, Nana oe i lawe mai nei mai ka aina o Aigupita mai; E hoohamama i kou waha, a na'u ia e hoopiha ai.
10(81-11) I am the LORD thy God, who brought thee up out of the land of Egypt; open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.
11Aole nae i hoolohe ko'u poe kanaka i ko'u leo; Aole hoi i makemake mai o ka Iseraela ia'u.
11(81-12) But My people hearkened not to My voice; and Israel would none of Me.
12Alaila, haawi aku la au ia lakou i ka paakiki o ko lakou naau; A hele hoi lakou ma ko lakou manao iho.
12(81-13) So I let them go after the stubbornness of their heart, that they might walk in their own counsels.
13Ina i hoolohe ko'u poe kanaka ia'u, Ina i hele o ka Iseraela ma ko'u aoao!
13(81-14) Oh that My people would hearken unto Me, that Israel would walk in My ways!
14Ina ua hoohaahaa koke aku au i ko lakou poe enemi, A ua huli ku e hoi kou lima i ka poe i huhu mai ia lakou:
14(81-15) I would soon subdue their enemies, and turn My hand against their adversaries.
15Ina ua huli mai hoi ka poe i huhu ia Iehova, A ua mau loa no ko lakou manawa.
15(81-16) The haters of the LORD should dwindle away before Him; and their punishment should endure for ever.
16Ina ua hanai aku oia ia lakou i ka palaoa maikai; A ua hoomaona hoi au ia oe i ka meli mailoko mai o ka pohaku.
16(81-17) They should also be fed with the fat of wheat; and with honey out of the rock would I satisfy thee.'
