1It is the part of man to prepare the soul: and of the Lord to govern the tongue.
1Hlang taengah lungbuei kah rhoekbahnah om dae olka hlatnah he BOEIPA lamkah ni.
2All the ways of a man are open to his eyes: the Lord is the weigher of spirits.
2Hlang kah a longpuei boeih he amah mikhmuh ah khui dae, BOEIPA long tah a mueihla ni a khiinglang pah.
3Lay open thy works to the Lord: and thy thoughts shall be directed.
3Na bibi te BOEIPA taengah hal lamtah, na kopoek cikngae bitni.
4The Lord hath made all things for himself: the wicked also for the evil day.
4Soeprhaep boeih he amah kah a hlatnah ham BOEIPA loh a saii. Te dongah halang pataeng yoethae hnin kah ham a hlun.
5Every proud man is an abomination to the Lord: though hand should be joined to hand, he is not innocent. The beginning of a good way is to do justice; and this is more acceptable with God, than to offer sacrifices.
5Kut neh kut hlaengtang tih lungbuei aka oek boeih BOEIPA kah a tueilaehkoi la a om dongah hmil mahpawh.
6By mercy and truth iniquity is redeemed: and by the fear of the Lord men depart from evil.
6Sitlohnah neh oltak loh thaesainah a dawth tih, BOEIPA hinyahnah loh boethae lamkah a nong sak.
7When the ways of man shall please the Lord, he will convert even his enemies to peace.
7Hlang kah khosing te BOEIPA loh a moeithen vaengah a thunkha rhoek pataeng amah taengah a rhong sak.
8Better is a little with justice, than great revenues with iniquity.
8Duengnah neh yol mai cakhaw, a tiktam mueh canghum cangpai lakah then.
9The heart of man disposeth his way: but the Lord must direct his steps.
9Hlang kah lungbuei loh amah longpuei te a moeh tih, BOEIPA loh a khokan a cikngae sak.
10Divination is in the lips of the king, his mouth shall not err in judgment.
10Manghai ka dongkah bihma tah laitloeknah ham ni, te dongah a ka vikvawk boel saeh.
11Weight and balance are judgments of the Lord: and his work all the weights of the bag.
11Tiktamnah cooi neh coilung tah BOEIPA taeng lamkah ni, sungsa coilung boeih khaw amah kah a bibi ni.
12They that act wickedly are abominable to the king: for the throne is established by justice.
12Duengnah loh ngolkhoel a cikngae sak dongah, manghai rhoek loh halangnah a saii ham tah tueilaehkoi la om.
13Just lips are the delight of kings: he that speaketh right things shall be loved.
13Duengnah hmuilai tah manghai rhoek kah kolonah om tih, a thuem aka thui te a lungnah.
14The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: and the wise man will pacify it.
14Manghai kah kosi tah dueknah puencawn ni. Te dongah hlang cueih long ni kosi a daeh sak thai eh.
15In the cheerfulness of the king’s countenance is life: and his clemency is like the latter rain.
15Manghai kah maelhmai khosae dongah hingnah tih, a kolonah tah tlankhol vaengkah khomai banghui ni.
16Get wisdom, because it is better than gold: and purchase prudence, for it is more precious than silver.
16Cueihnah lai he sui lakah bahoeng then tih, yakmingnah lai he khaw tangka n'tuek lakah then.
17The path of the just departeth from evils: he that keepeth his soul keepeth his way.
17Boethae lamloh aka nong hamla a thuem longpuei om tih, a hinglu aka ngaithuen loh a longpuei a kueinah.
18Pride goeth before destruction: and the spirit is lifted up before a fall.
18Pocinah kah a hmaiah hoemdamnah om tih, cungkunah kah a hmaiah ah mueihla oeknah a lamhma pah.
19It is better to be humbled with the meek, than to divide spoils with the proud.
19Thinthah neh kutbuem n'tael lakah kodo mangdaeng neh mueihla kunyun te then.
20The learned in word shall find good things: and he that trusteth in the Lord is blessed.
20Olka neh aka cangbam long tah hnothen a dang tih, BOEIPA dongah aka pangtung tah a yoethen pai.
21The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and he that is sweet in words shall attain to greater things.
21Lungbuei aka cueih te aka yakming la a khue uh tih, hmuilai dongkah olding loh rhingtuknah a thap.
22Knowledge is a fountain of life to him that possesseth it: the instruction of fools is foolishness.
22Lungmingnah te a kungmah la aka khueh long tah hingnah thunsih la om tih, aka ang rhoek kah thuituennah tah anglat la poeh.
23The heart of the wise shall instruct his mouth: and shall add grace to his lips.
23Aka cueih kah lungbuei tah a ka a cangbam tih, a hmuilai dongah rhingtuknah a thap.
24Well ordered words are as a honeycomb: sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
24Ol then tah, hinglu ham khoitui khoitak bangla didip tih, rhuh hamla hoeihnah la om.
25There is a way that seemeth to a man right: and the ends thereof lead to death.
25Hlang mikhmuh ah longpuei te thuem dae a hmailong ah dueknah longpuei la om.
26The soul of him that laboureth, laboureth for himself, because his mouth hath obliged him to it.
26Thakthaekung kah a hinglu loh amah hamla thakthae tih a ka te a kamcah sak.
27The wicked man diggeth evil, and in his lips is a burning fire.
27Hlang muen loh boethae a vueh tih, a hmuilai dongah hmai bangla rhangto.
28A perverse man stirreth up quarrels: and one full of words separateth princes.
28Calaak hlang loh olpungkacan a haeh tih, hlang aka thet loh boeihlum a pamhma sak.
29An unjust man allureth his friend: and leadeth him into a way that is not good.
29Kuthlahnah hlang loh a hui a hloeh tih, longpuei a then pawt la a caeh puei.
30He that with fixed eyes deviseth wicked things, biting his lips, bringeth: evil to pass.
30Calaak te moeh hamla a mik aka him tih, a hmui saibaeh loh boethae a cung sak.
31Old age is a crown of dignity, when it is found in the ways of justice.
31Sampok he boeimang rhuisam la om tih, duengnah longpuei kah aka om loh a dang.
32The patient man is better than the valiant: and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh cities.
32Thintoek aka ueh tah hlangrhalh lakah, a mueihla aka taem khaw khopuei aka ta lakah then.
33Lots are cast into the lap, but they are disposed of by the Lord.
33A rhang dongah hmulung khoh cakhaw a laitloeknah boeih tah BOEIPA lamkah ni a om.
