1Then Job answered, and said:
1To naah Job mah,
2Now also my words are in bitterness, and the hand of my scourge is more grievous than my mourning.
2vaihni loe kana ka haam; ka nathaih nung parai pongah hang ai ah ka om thai ai.
3Who will grant me that I might know and find him, and come even to his throne?
3Anih hnukthaihaih ahmuen to ka panoek nahaeloe, anih anghnuthaih ahmuen ah ka caeh han!
4I would set judgment before him, and would fill my mouth with complaints.
4A hmaa ah kaimah kawng to ka thuih moe, pakha hoiah lok ka thuih han.
5That I might know the words that he would answer me, and understand what he would say to me.
5Anih mah kawbangmaw na pathim tih, tiah ka panoek, a thuih han ih lok doeh ka panoek.
6I would not that he should contend with me with much strength, nor overwhelm me with the weight of his greatness.
6A thacakhaih hoiah kai hae na hmang tih maw? Na hmang mak ai; anih mah kai ih lok hae tahngai lat tih.
7Let him propose equity against me, and let my judgment come to victory.
7To ahmuen ah katoeng kami hoi lokthuihaih om tih, kai loe lokcaek kami khae hoiah ka loih poe tih boeh.
8But if I go to the east, he appeareth not; if to the west, I shall not understand him.
8Khenah, kai loe hmabangah ka caeh, toe anih loe to ahmuen ah om ai; hnukbangah kang nawn cadoeh, anih to ka panoek thai ai;
9If to the left hand, what shall I do? I shall not take hold on him: if I turn myself to the right hand, I shall not see him.
9a toksakhaih banqoi bangah ka caeh, toe anih to ka hnu thai ai; bantang bangah kang qoi naah doeh, anih to ka hnu thai ai.
10But he knoweth my way, and has tried me as gold that passeth through the fire:
10Toe ka caehhaih loklam to ang panoek pae; anih mah kai ang tanoek pacoengah loe, sui baktiah ka om tih boeh.
11My foot hath followed his steps, I have kept his way, and have not declined from it.
11Ka khok mah a caehhaih khok tangkannawk to pazui, kam khraeng taak ai, anih ih loklam to ka pazui.
12I have not departed from the commandments of his lips, and the words of his mouth I have hid in my bosom.
12A pahni hoi paek ih lok to ka caeh taak ai; ni thokkruek kangaih caaknaek pongah doeh anih mah thuih ih loknawk to ni ka palung kue.
13For he is alone, and no man can turn away his thought: and whatsoever is soul hath desired, that hath he done.
13Toe poekhaih maeto ah kaom, Sithaw to mi mah maw pakhrai thai tih? Anih loe a koehhaih baktiah ni sak.
14And when he shall have fulfilled his will in me, many other like things are also at hand with him.
14Anih loe kai han suek ih hmuen to a sak; anih loe to baktih poekhaih paroeai tawnh.
15And therefore I am troubled at his presence, and when I consider him I am made pensive with fear.
15To pongah a hmaa ah loe zithaih hoiah ni ka oh; to baktih hmuen to ka poek naah, anih to ka zit.
16God hath softened my heart, and the Almighty hath troubled me.
16Sithaw mah palungthin ang naemsak moe, Thacak Angraeng mah zithaih to ang paek;
17For I have not perished because of the darkness that hangs over me, neither hath the mist covered my face.
17toe kai hae khoving hmaa ah va sut ai, ka hmaa ih khoving thung hoiah doeh paka ai.
