1Why have You rejected us forever, O God? Why does Your anger smolder against the sheep of Your pasture?
1Наука Асафова. Для чого відкинув єси нас, Боже, на віки, палає гнїв твій на стадо пасовиска твого?
2Remember Your congregation, which You purchased long ago and redeemed as the tribe of Your inheritance— Mount Zion where You dwell.
2Спогадай твою громаду, що зєднав її оддавна, — ізбавив, як твоє наслїддє, тую гору Сион, на котрій ти осївся!
3Turn Your steps to the everlasting ruins, to everything in the sanctuary the enemy has destroyed.
3Зверни стопи твої до недавньої руїни! Все у сьвятинї зруйнував ворог.
4Your foes have roared within Your meeting place; they have unfurled their banners as signs,
4Рикають вороги твої серед зборів твоїх; поставили знаки свої як знамена.
5like men wielding axes in a thicket of trees
5Вони, як той, що сокирою замахнув в гущавинї лїса,
6and smashing all the carvings with hatchets and picks.
6І тепер вони топором і молотами розбивають різьбу його.
7They have burned Your sanctuary to the ground; they have defiled the dwelling place of Your Name.
7З пожаром пустили сьвятиню твою, осквернили дім імені твого.
8They said in their hearts, “We will crush them completely.” They burned down every place where God met us in the land.
8Сказали в серцї своїм: Нуте, винищимо їх до ноги! — Пустили з димом всї Божі собори на землї.
9There are no signs for us to see. There is no longer any prophet. And none of us knows how long this will last.
9Знамен наших ми не бачимо: нема більш пророка, й нема між нами, хто б знав, доки так буде.
10How long, O God, will the enemy taunt You? Will the foe revile Your name forever?
10Доки, Боже, буде ругатись гнобитель? Чи вічно буде ворог зневажати імя твоє?
11Why do You withdraw Your strong right hand? Stretch it out to destroy them!
11Чому здержуєш руку твою і правицю твою? Із лона твого допусти конець!
12Yet God is my King from ancient times, working salvation on the earth.
12Бог царь мій з поконвіку, що дає спасеннє на землї.
13You divided the sea by Your strength; You smashed the heads of the dragons of the sea;
13Ти роздїлив море силою твоєю, розбив голови змиїв морських.
14You crushed the heads of Leviathan; You fed him to the creatures of the desert.
14Ти потрощив голову левіятана, дав його на поживу людям в пустинї.
15You broke open the fountain and the flood; You dried up the ever-flowing rivers.
15Ти вітворив жерела і потоки; ти висушив прудисті ріки.
16The day is Yours, and also the night; You established the moon and the sun.
16І день твій і ніч твоя; ти сотворив сьвітло і сонце.
17You set all the boundaries of the earth; You made the summer and winter.
17Ти утвердив всї гряницї землї; ти постановив лїто і зиму.
18Remember how the enemy has mocked You, O LORD, how a foolish people has spurned Your name.
18Спогадай се: ворог поругав Господа, а народ безумний зневажив імя твоє.
19Do not deliver the soul of Your dove to beasts; do not forget the lives of Your afflicted forever.
19Не попусти зьвірюцї душу горлицї твоєї, не забудь на віки громаду нужденних твоїх.
20Consider Your covenant, for haunts of violence fill the dark places of the land.
20Спогадай завіт! Бо темні закутки землї наповнились домівками насильства.
21Do not let the oppressed retreat in shame; may the poor and needy praise Your name.
21Нехай не вернеться з соромом пригноблений! Нужденний і бідний нехай возхвалять імя твоє.
22Rise up, O God; defend Your cause! Remember how the fool mocks You all day long.
22Встань, Боже, суди справу твою! Спогадай щоденне руганнє беззаконного!
23Do not disregard the clamor of Your adversaries, the uproar of Your enemies that ascends continually.
23Не забудь крику ворогів твоїх! Буяннє тих, що проти тебе встали, не має кінця.
