Psalms 71

World English Bible
Clementine Vulgate, 1598
1In you, LORD, I take refuge. Never let me be disappointed.
1Psalmus, in Salomonem.
2Deliver me in your righteousness, and rescue me. Turn your ear to me, and save me.
2[Deus, judicium tuum regi da, et justitiam tuam filio regis; judicare populum tuum in justitia, et pauperes tuos in judicio.
3Be to me a rock of refuge to which I may always go. Give the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress.
3Suscipiant montes pacem populo, et colles justitiam.
4Rescue me, my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.
4Judicabit pauperes populi, et salvos faciet filios pauperum, et humiliabit calumniatorem.
5For you are my hope, Lord GOD, my confidence from my youth.
5Et permanebit cum sole, et ante lunam, in generatione et generationem.
6I have relied on you from the womb. You are he who took me out of my mother’s womb. I will always praise you.
6Descendet sicut pluvia in vellus, et sicut stillicidia stillantia super terram.
7I am a marvel to many, but you are my strong refuge.
7Orietur in diebus ejus justitia, et abundantia pacis, donec auferatur luna.
8My mouth shall be filled with your praise, with your honor all day long.
8Et dominabitur a mari usque ad mare, et a flumine usque ad terminos orbis terrarum.
9Don’t reject me in my old age. Don’t forsake me when my strength fails.
9Coram illo procident Æthiopes, et inimici ejus terram lingent.
10For my enemies talk about me. Those who watch for my soul conspire together,
10Reges Tharsis et insulæ munera offerent; reges Arabum et Saba dona adducent:
11saying, “God has forsaken him. Pursue and take him, for no one will rescue him.”
11et adorabunt eum omnes reges terræ; omnes gentes servient ei.
12God, don’t be far from me. My God, hurry to help me.
12Quia liberabit pauperem a potente, et pauperem cui non erat adjutor.
13Let my accusers be disappointed and consumed. Let them be covered with disgrace and scorn who want to harm me.
13Parcet pauperi et inopi, et animas pauperum salvas faciet.
14But I will always hope, and will add to all of your praise.
14Ex usuris et iniquitate redimet animas eorum, et honorabile nomen eorum coram illo.
15My mouth will tell about your righteousness, and of your salvation all day, though I don’t know its full measure.
15Et vivet, et dabitur ei de auro Arabiæ; et adorabunt de ipso semper, tota die benedicent ei.
16I will come with the mighty acts of the Lord GOD. I will make mention of your righteousness, even of yours alone.
16Et erit firmamentum in terra in summis montium; superextolletur super Libanum fructus ejus, et florebunt de civitate sicut fœnum terræ.
17God, you have taught me from my youth. Until now, I have declared your wondrous works.
17Sit nomen ejus benedictum in sæcula; ante solem permanet nomen ejus. Et benedicentur in ipso omnes tribus terræ; omnes gentes magnificabunt eum.
18Yes, even when I am old and gray-haired, God, don’t forsake me, until I have declared your strength to the next generation, your might to everyone who is to come.
18Benedictus Dominus Deus Israël, qui facit mirabilia solus.
19God, your righteousness also reaches to the heavens. You have done great things. God, who is like you?
19Et benedictum nomen majestatis ejus in æternum, et replebitur majestate ejus omnis terra. Fiat, fiat.]
20You, who have shown us many and bitter troubles, you will let me live. You will bring us up again from the depths of the earth.
20Defecerunt laudes David, filii Jesse.
21Increase my honor and comfort me again.
