1ʻE ʻOtua, naʻa mau fanongo ʻaki homau telinga, pea kuo tala kiate kimautolu ʻe heʻemau ngaahi tamai, ʻae ngāue naʻa ke fai ʻi honau ngaahi ʻaho, ʻi he ngaahi kuonga ʻi muʻa.
1(44-1) For the Leader; a Psalm of the sons of Korah. Maschil. (44-2) O God, we have heard with our ears, our fathers have told us; a work Thou didst in their days, in the days of old.
2Naʻa ke kapusi kituʻa ʻae hiteni ʻaki ho nima, mo ke tō ʻakinautolu: naʻa ke tautea ʻae kakai, pea mafola atu ʻakinautolu.
2(44-3) Thou with Thy hand didst drive out the nations, and didst plant them in; Thou didst break the peoples, and didst spread them abroad.
3He naʻe ʻikai te nau maʻu ʻae fonua ʻi he heletā ʻanautolu, pea naʻe ʻikai fakamoʻui ʻakinautolu ʻe honau nima: ka ko ho ʻaofi nima, mo ho nima toʻomataʻu, mo e maama ʻo ho fofonga, koeʻuhi naʻa ke ʻofa kiate kinautolu.
3(44-4) For not by their own sword did they get the land in possession, neither did their own arm save them; but Thy right hand, and Thine arm, and the light of Thy countenance, because Thou wast favourable unto them.
4He ko koe ko hoku Tuʻi, ʻE ʻOtua ke ke fekau ʻae fakamoʻui kia Sēkope.
4(44-5) Thou art my King, O God; command the salvation of Jacob.
5Ko e meʻa ʻiate koe temau tulaki homau ngaahi fili: ko e meʻa ʻi ho huafa temau malamalaki ki lalo ʻakinautolu ʻoku tuʻu hake kiate kimautolu.
5(44-6) Through Thee do we push down our adversaries; through Thy name do we tread them under that rise up against us.
6Koeʻuhi ʻe ʻikai te u falala ki heʻeku kaufana, pea ʻe ʻikai fakamoʻui au ʻe heʻeku heletā.
6(44-7) For I trust not in my bow, neither can my sword save me.
7Ka ko koe kuo ke fakamoʻui ʻakimautolu mei homau ngaahi fili, pea kuo ke tuku ke mā ʻakinautolu naʻe fehiʻa kiate kimautolu.
7(44-8) But Thou hast saved us from our adversaries, and hast put them to shame that hate us.
8ʻOku mau vikiviki ʻi he ʻOtua ʻi he ʻaho kotoa, ʻo fakamālō ki ho huafa ʻo taʻengata. Sila.
8(44-9) In God have we gloried all the day, and we will give thanks unto Thy name for ever. Selah
9Ka kuo ke liʻaki, pea tuku ke mā ʻakimautolu; pea ʻikai te ke ʻalu atu mo ʻemau ngaahi kongakau.
9(44-10) Yet Thou hast cast off, and brought us to confusion; and goest not forth with our hosts.
10ʻOku ke pule ke mau foki mai mei he fili: pea ko kinautolu ʻoku fehiʻa kiate kimautolu ʻoku nau maumau maʻanautolu.
10(44-11) Thou makest us to turn back from the adversary; and they that hate us spoil at their will.
11Kuo ke foaki ʻakimautolu ʻo hangē ko e fanga sipi kuo fili ki he kai; pea kuo ke fakahēʻi ʻakimautolu ki he hiteni.
11(44-12) Thou hast given us like sheep to be eaten; and hast scattered us among the nations.
12ʻOku ke fakatau hoʻo kakai taʻehatotongi, pea ʻoku ʻikai te ke fakalahi hoʻo koloa ʻaki honau totongi.
12(44-13) Thou sellest Thy people for small gain, and hast not set their prices high.
13ʻOku ke ngaohi ʻakimautolu ko e manukiʻanga ʻo homau ngaahi kaungāʻapi, ko e meʻa manuki mo e taukaeʻanga ʻokinautolu ʻoku nofo takatakai ʻiate kimautolu.
13(44-14) Thou makest us a taunt to our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us.
14ʻOku ke ngaohi ʻakimautolu ko e lumaʻanga ʻoe hiteni, ko e kalokaloʻanga ʻoe ʻulu ʻi he ʻao ʻoe kakai.
14(44-15) Thou makest us a byword among the nations, a shaking of the head among the peoples.
15ʻOku ʻi hoku ʻao maʻuaipē ʻeku kovi, pea kuo ʻufiʻufi ʻaki au ʻae mā ʻo hoku mata,
15(44-16) All the day is my confusion before me, and the shame of my face hath covered me,
16Koeʻuhi ko e leʻo ʻo ia ʻoku ne taukae mo kape; ko e meʻa ʻi he fili mo e fakafāsifasi.
16(44-17) For the voice of him that taunteth and blasphemeth; by reason of the enemy and the revengeful.
17Kuo hoko ʻae meʻa ni kotoa pē kiate kimautolu; ka naʻe ʻikai te mau fakangalongaloʻi koe, pea naʻe ʻikai te mau fai kākā ʻi hoʻo fuakava.
17(44-18) All this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten Thee, neither have we been false to Thy covenant.
18ʻOku ʻikai foki kimui homau loto, pe afe mei ho hala homau ʻaluʻanga;
18(44-19) Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from Thy path;
19Kuo ke fesifesi ʻakimautolu ʻi he potu ʻoe fanga talākoni, mo ʻufiʻufi ʻaki ʻakimautolu ʻae ʻata ʻoe mate.
19(44-20) Though Thou hast crushed us into a place of jackals, and covered us with the shadow of death.
20Kapau kuo mau fakangaloʻi ʻae huafa ʻo homau ʻOtua, pe mafao atu homau nima ki ha ʻotua kehe;
20(44-21) If we had forgotten the name of our God, or spread forth our hands to a strange god;
21ʻIkai ʻe ʻeke ia ʻe he ʻOtua? He ʻoku ne ʻiloʻi ʻae ngaahi meʻa fufū ʻoe loto.
21(44-22) Would not God search this out? For He knoweth the secrets of the heart.
22ʻIo, koeʻuhi ko koe ʻoku tāmateʻi ʻakimautolu ʻi he ʻaho kotoa pē; ʻoku lau ʻakimautolu ʻo hangē ko e fanga sipi ke tāmateʻi.
22(44-23) Nay, but for Thy sake are we killed all the day; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
23Ke ke ʻā, ko e hā ʻoku ke mohe ai, ʻE Sihova? Tuʻu hake, ʻoua naʻa ke liʻaki ʻakimautolu ʻo taʻengata.
23(44-24) Awake, why sleepest Thou, O Lord? Arouse Thyself, cast not off for ever.
24Ko e hā ʻoku ke fufū ai ho fofonga, ʻo fakangaloʻi homau tautea mo homau taʻomia?
24(44-25) Wherefore hidest Thou Thy face, and forgettest our affliction and our oppression?
25He kuo lolohifo homau laumālie ki he efu: kuo hiki homau kete ki he kelekele.
25(44-26) For our soul is bowed down to the dust; our belly cleaveth unto the earth.
26Tuʻu hake ko homau tokoni, pea huhuʻi ʻakimautolu koeʻuhi ko hoʻo ʻaloʻofa.
26(44-27) Arise for our help, and redeem us for Thy mercy's sake.
