1‌ʻOku ou hanga hake hoku mata ki hoʻo ʻafio, ʻa koe ʻoku ke ʻafio ʻi he ngaahi langi.
1A Song of Ascents. Unto Thee I lift up mine eyes, O Thou that art enthroned in the heavens.
2Vakai, ʻoku hangē ko e sio ʻae mata ʻoe kau tamaioʻeiki ki he nima ʻo ʻenau ngaahi ʻeiki, pea hangē ko e mata ʻo ha kaunanga ki he nima ʻo ʻene ʻeiki fefine; ʻoku tatali pehē ʻa homau mata kia Sihova ko homau ʻOtua, kaeʻoua ke ne ʻaloʻofa mai kiate kimautolu.
2Behold, as the eyes of servants unto the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes look unto the LORD our God, until He be gracious unto us.
3‌ʻE Sihova, ke ke ʻaloʻofa mai kiate kimautolu, ke ke ʻaloʻofa mai kiate kimautolu: he kuo mau fonu ʻaupito ʻi he manukia.
3Be gracious unto us, O LORD, be gracious unto us; for we are full sated with contempt.
4‌ʻOku fonu ʻaupito homau laumālie ʻi he manuki ʻanautolu ʻoku anga fakafiemālie, pea mo e fehiʻa ʻae fielahi.
4Our soul is full sated with the scorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud oppressors.
